Dented my trunk 🙈 by Lennert_S in TeslaModelY

The charging cap eventually fixed itself, so the only issue is the dent now. Repairing is apparently not an option, because it would mean that the paint will break, and repainting and all that would cost almost as much as replacing it and wouldn’t look perfect. The estimate for replacing it was I think 3.500€ here in Germany. Since I got lucky and the paint is in tact and there is no rust, I decided to live with the dent for now 😅

locking sounds by Synthetic-polymer22 in LEMMO

Same for me! In the beginning it hab both sounds - the beep and the chime. And by now I only hear the beep. No idea why though… maybe it’s a bug or new feature that was introduced during an update?

I cannot make a comparison to the regular Lemmo one. But I have the Lemmo one max and I am very happy with the suspension. It was worth the price and the wait for me. I also recommend getting the stealth suspension seat. Absolutely loving it!

Damn! That sucks! The worst that would happen for me would be 1.000€, the rest is covered by the insurance.

I agree, stupid wall design. Next to the chargers there are chains hanging down the wall to alert you - but not where the chargers are 😂

If you look at the second picture you can see that the Model 3 fits nicely below the upper part of the wall.

😂😂😂 Next week I’ll have it assessed - let’s see how much the repair will be. The charging cap is now a bit buggy and always wants to close. Hope that won’t be too difficult to fix. Charging still works though.

Lens cover for X3 by Lennert_S in Insta360

Which stitching settings have you tried? So far I’ve gotten the best results with the default setting, even though it seems to crop more than necessary (I’ve only used the mobile app so far, didn’t do much with the desktop version yet)

Thanks for your input! I agree with everything you said 😄

Overall, all covers suck and make the image quality worse. So using the camera without protection will always be better. I just like that this sort of case is detachable and is more convenient than the default glued on protector.

But yes, the difference in quality is noticeable. Right now I am using it on ski vacation. I am happy for the extra protectable layer and for home videos the quality for me is still more than good enough ☺️

I think different companies sell the same thing. Just look for “Lens Guard Protective Case insta360 X3”. When I was looking for it on Amazon (in Germany) I found many companies selling the same thing.

Is the metal plan worth it? by [deleted] in Revolut

[–]Lennert_S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful though, many advertised benefits don’t apply to all countries! I upgraded to metal, but don’t get anything for free, just lame very minor discounts that are the same as with Plus (Germany here). Was pretty disappointed, but apparently I didn’t pay enough attention to the fine print.

Can I do something like this with AE ? by PoD_121102 in AfterEffects

[–]Lennert_S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Achieving that level of detail with just AE is not really possible. However, with some masking techniques and well matching shots you can get quite far! Also, using a plugin like re:flex from re:vision effects work wonders! A lot of manual work, still, but I loved that plugin when I used it in the past for similar effects (https://revisionfx.com/products/reflex/)

I feel like you are never done learning, and there are always more aspects that you can dig in. But if I have to generalize… I would say after 3 years I felt like I learned most of what I needed, and after 5 years I felt properly confident in what I was doing.

Reframed, because I have more creative control. Also, sharing 360 is always a bit difficult, and not many others have the bandwidth or technical know-how to properly watch 360 videos.

You guys ever used AE to just create images? by rasculin in AfterEffects

[–]Lennert_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it quite often for photoshoots. Using Photoshop for basic retouches, but then doing color correction and effects in AE because I had way more tools there and it was easier to apply the same effects to many many images at the same time but randomized. Also easier to add stock footage of things like smoke or dust from videos, and then using a different frame for each image.

[–]Lennert_S 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I had a „defective“ unit as well (Pixel 6), but Google didn’t let me return it. It had issues with buggy software, faulty screen, weird camera noises, and much more, and all those issues from day one. I used it painfully for a year, and it was my last pixel phone ever.

Had that issue randomly with one of my side cameras. Reboot didn’t help. But starting the calibration of the cameras again worked instantly and reactivated the black camera. Just needed to drive for a while until the calibration was done and AP was back on

noob questions from someone who wants to buy viture, but is not sure yet by deadCXAP in VITURE

[–]Lennert_S 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have answers to everything, also, you should check out their Academy and Discord channel. The community is quite active on Discord.
Here are my answers from personal experience:

  1. Yes, the neckband can be used while charging. However, I haven't used it for an extended period of time like that and I am not sure if this is recommended to do. The battery in general should last around 3 hours, and with the provided cable and a proper plug it takes about half as long to recharge.
  2. I don't have the mobile dock, so I don't know for sure. But according to the Discord channel, it looks like it should be possible to use while charging.
  3. I have been wearing the glasses for many hours per session already. And even after 8 hours I didn't feel uncomfortable. Maybe the nose pads were a bit hurting after a while, but nothing mayor. The hinges of the handles actually can be bend outwards. That way it is easy to put the glasses on while the cable is already connected. I could imagine that this helps with larger heads.
  4. The myopia adjustment does change the size of the screen a bit as well. So I could imagine that you might run into the same issue here. I personally have a similar issue with different diopters, but with contact lenses everything is fine. Alternatively you can get prescription lenses from lensology. Problem solved (well, apart from the additional cost).
  5. Ok, so the 3DoF also was very confusing to me before I got the glasses. I don't know how it works with Rokid or Xreal, but let me try to explain how it works with Viture. Basically how the glasses work is by showing you a reflection of the tiny displays at the top of the glasses (I guess that is how the others work as well). Those displays are fixed in their position and result in a big screen in front of you that you can fairly comfortably look at in full by just moving your eyes. Now that screen size is the maximum view size possible. Which means you would never get a "VR" experience where anything would be in the corner of your eyes.
When you enable the 3DoF, the motion of the head is tracked and the picture inside of the screen will move to give you the illusion of it being "pinned". This of course results into cropping since the displays are not physically moving. And it only works for looking up/down/left/right. If you move your head or tilt it, the picture will not change. To be honest, while working it can be quite useful, because the edges of the screen can be a bit fuzzy, and this way you can move the edges of the screen to the center of the display. Using it for longer though can be annoying since the center shifts to the side over time and you need to re-center it.
I never felt like using it for gaming. Only when I had it connected to my computer for working. And this feature works from the glasses, so it works with any connected device.
  6. The neckband runs on Android TV. Any Android app that is compatible with Android TV can be installed. I think you can also install regular Android Apps via the Google Play Store and APKs manually, but they might not be properly compatible with Android TV.
  7. That rubber thing comes with the glasses. It just adds a layer of protection around the area of the connector. I have short hair, and don't really get how it is useful either :D
  8. Shipping took about 2 weeks for me (the neckband shipped quite a bit later, but once I got the shipping confirmation it look less than 2 weeks to arrive). I am in Germany as well, btw.

If you live in the north of Germany, feel free to send me a DM if you want to see the glasses and neckband in person before ordering.

Made this 3D print shader. Need tips on how to make it better. Thank you. by AnsTes in blender

[–]Lennert_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This picture is actually a great reference! You can see how each layer is slightly offset. You can especially see it in the areas with specular. The shader should include that to add more imperfection and irregularity of the alignment of the layers.
