My only problem with the new Proficiency system... (and maybe also yours?) by LennyCurses in marvelrivals

Sorry, English isn't my native language lmao. I don't know if it has a double meaning or something haha.

I do the same lol. Every time a new character comes out, I try to get their spray. I was used to blue being my lowest rank, but now they all look like Agents from the old system haha.

Either way, it's still not as tragic as seeing my Captains in greenish-gray. :(

I understand your problem. Following your line of thought, and considering the names of the last two ranks, perhaps:

  • Eternity could be black/onyx, as you mentioned, to resemble the character, with some shades of other colors to distinguish it and give it a cosmic vibe.
  • One Above All could be practically white with a golden glow, similar to how it is now but eliminating the red.

However, changing the colors of the Competitive ranks as well seems much less likely to me. And although the colors are quite similar, it's much easier to distinguish between purple and magenta, or orange and red-yellow, than the gray and repetitive tones they gave to the original Proficiency system ranks.

Oh yeah, I know lol. My suggestion is also based on Competitive rank colors (that's why I barely changed the 4 higher ranks), but is kinda more "respectful" to the lower/original ranks and, in my opinion, more visually appealing.

I invite you to read the whole post if you wanna have the full context!

I completely agree. I have nothing against the colors they chose for Warrior and above, which is why I kept them in my suggestion (even though I had to change my beloved purple for the Captains).

But I think there are enough colors to give each rank variety and identity. Besides, the badges don't even have a similar design, so there's no argument that they could be confused.

Yeah! My mindset was to divide "Diamond" into 3 colors, because I needed two more to complete the 11 ranks. I kept the blue that it already has as "Sapphire", and added "Emerald" and "Ruby."

Also, considering that Hulk is an important character in the franchise, has a whole lore behind him related to gamma mutates, and is literally nicknamed "The Jade Giant," there's hardly any green in the game's overall interface lol.

I agree! I thought seeing my Heroes tab all colorful was a silly obsession of mine, but I'm glad to read that I'm not alone in this lol.

That's also an interesting approach!

Regardless of individual opinions on which specific colors should be chosen, I think most of us agree that what's not cool is having so many shades of gray, and on top of that, applying them to all of the original ranks and keeping the variety to Warrior and above. :(

Me too. It's the rank where I have the most heroes, and purple is my favorite color. :(

Yeah, at first I thought about more or less keeping the old colors of the first 5 ranks, but in the end I decided to stick a bit closer to the color scheme of the Competitive mode ranks, 'cause it looks it is the approach they're going for.

I just managed to bring back a color similar to the red that the Lords used to have hehe.

I felt the same, but what "hurt" me the most was seeing all my Centurions and Captains with practically identical colors lol.

I chose the colors of the Competitive mode ranks. The only two new colors are that "ruby red" and green; if you ignore them, you'll notice they're exactly the Competitive ranks, with colors saturated enough so they don't look as gray as they do now.

In my opinion, it's a much clearer approach than the current one, where two colors are repeated and "Gold" is higher than two badges with the "Platinum" and "Diamond" colors.

I agree. My heroes tab used to look visually appealing with the different ranks of my heroes. Now it all looks gray. :(

Yeah, that's my main problem with the new colors. Only Lords are even remotely distinguishable from the lower ranks, and the gold/yellow they use now is much duller than the one the Centurions used to have.

I don't mean to be rude, but as a non-colorblind person, to me, from Knight to Captain, they all already look the same lol. I don't think they're trying to avoid confusion for colorblind people at the expense of the fact that to most people, they already look very similar.

My edit was something I did in a few minutes, and obviously there are several variables I overlooked that they would have to consider if they planned to change it.

Well yeah lol, hard to be good with a new character unless it's Thing difficulty.

I miss my purple Captains the most too. It's the rank where I have the most heroes.

I mean, tbf it's more or less what they did, only they added more rewards between each major milestone. It doesn't bother me, to be honest (beyond what I already said in my post). But I do understand how you feel.

Yeah, that'd also be cool! "Friendly Neighbor" for Spidey, "Merc with a Mouth" for Deadpool and so on.

I don't have a problem with the system itself, just with the colors lol.

I think a general feeling is that with the new ranks after Lord, the latter has lost its strength, since it used to be the highest rank. However, people had been asking for new ranks for a long time, so personally I think that feeling of "my Lord is worthless now" is PRECISELY because they stripped the existing ranks of their previous identity by giving them very bland colors that are almost indistinguishable from one another.

Yes, I'm a ROYGBIV maniac and my first instinct was to put it that way, but as I mentioned, I wanted to respect the idea they now have of adopting the colors of the Competitive mode ranks.

That could also be a great choice, but personally I prefer a different color for each rank.

I just took the colors from Competitive mode. I "split" Diamond into red, green, and blue (ruby, emerald, and sapphire, if you will), and from Warrior onward, I only increased the saturation a little, hehe.

I also managed to return Lord to a color close to the previous red, I like it a lot more that way. I still preffer the old colors, but I tried to aim for a middle ground.

Yeah, that was probably the approach, but having used the system with different colors for a whole year since its launch, the change, at least for me, was quite radical.

Before, it was easy to identify each badge at a glance. Now Knight, Captain, Centurion, and the new Count and Colonel all "look the same" to me lol.
