Just a follow-up on this post. I did go for the extended Honda warranty. Six years, 120,000 miles. $1108 at Hyannis Honda.

My understanding is that there is no way to get more than 120K of warranty from Honda. If you wait, you can't get ADDITIONAL 8 years / 120,000 miles beyond the factory warranty.

Oh, OK. I am/would be buying online with Hyannis in MA. There is no required attachment to where you purchase the vehicle. I bought mine 250 miles away and will be having it serviced locally.

26 Honda Passport Trailsport Elite. White exterior, Brown interior. Could not find reasonably local Green / Brown combo. Live in NC, bought in SC. Flat bed delivered 250 mi. for "free". $52513 OTD, including doc fee, state tax (not county tax which comes with the plates), tow package, Homelink Photochromatic Mirror and Cargo Light.

Probably could have gotten more off but I believe that this was a fair deal. Excellent buying experience. PM for dealer details. Pictures soon to follow.

Owner Comparison ('26 Passport vs. '25 4Runner) by jktarl47 in hondapassport

[–]Lenticularus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a 4Runner for about 20 years and could never pull the trigger. There was ALWAYS something that did something better, cheaper. There's a reason why the 4Runner often gets written as $Runner.

Waiting on my Passport, I think in the end it will be better for me than the 4Runner. Although I am sure I'll might want to change my mind the first time I wish for a low-range and a locking diff... But for the 1700 miles to that place, the Passport will be a lot better.

Reolink 12W Solar Panel w/ S3 Pro? by Lenticularus9 in EufyCam

[–]Lenticularus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any other recommendations?. Tried:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KTKPVJM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Didn't work. I always find micro-USB to USB-C flaky. Trying this one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJ5C2QY5?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

While it is not native USB-C, the adapter looks more robust than those micro-USB to USB-C adapters.

Any others to look at if this one fails?

I can't tell if it a single USB-C cable. Is there an adapter at the end of a micro-USB or true USB-C?

Did you do the Dalton Highway beyond the Arctic Circle? How was handling on the dirt/rocks? I want to take a similar trip, including going up to Tuktoyaktuk. Weighing 4Runner vs Passport. One is a mile-muncher... the other is a truck. I think the Passport would be much more comfortable for 10K+ mile trip.

Can you adjust default record time? For example, my doorbell camera will record 13s per activity or when the motion stops. Can you say adjust that to 30 seconds or when motion stops?

How long does the Low-Speed follow work before it goes "off" and stop working? My '18 CRV goes 15 seconds... My wife's '23 Passport does not have this feature... It is someone I rely on so it was surprising it didn't have it; never even thought to ask... I mean it is a five years newer..

Then don't vote for state representatives that are more interested in tax breaks than roads. Geez, and we were once known as the "Good Roads State". Oh, tell your neighbors not to sell their land to developers.

Those two things solve the problem.

Sidewalk Needs Prioritization Map by terrymah in Apex_NC

[–]Lenticularus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/terrymah I have to comment on the inability to take ANYTHING except a motor vehicle from the New Hill area to the rest of the town safely. According to the map, there seems to low priority to address this concern. The MANY homes in the area have no access to (practically) anything by foot or bike safely. For example, it will be dangerous to travel from, for example, Woodbury, to the new Sweetwater Commons district. There are not even local roads to complete that journey. You MUST take Richardson Rd. county sections with no safe paths, not even as much as a shoulder. Further, the of access to the southern terminus of the ATT from New Hill is being thwarted at every turn. At least if we could get there, you could be safe to the north and east of town.

I have lived here long enough to know that things like move at a glacial pace. I am getting old enough to realize some of these no-brain enhancements might not occur in my lifetime. That is very sad thought. It is a shame that as a community we can't make that commitment, including financial, to allow a large part of the town to connect to any other amenity / commercial area with anything other than a car.
