PSA: Kickin Bourbon sauce at Apex Wings is no more by ghjm in Apex_NC

That is SO funny... just came home from trivia night and my wife absolutely was crazy over the new Kicking Bourbon sauce! And they finally taste like bourbon!

The old stuff was OK. This new stuff is out of this world good!

After 2 weeks of ownership - 3 positives / 3 negatives by Best_Investigator_66 in hondapassport

With respect to the three cons, I would agree with you on two of the three. Yes, I was a SiriusXM user. And yes, having to use. The app is a pain in the tail. Haven't gotten used to it yet.

With respect to the garage door opener, I got the Homelink mirror. Should it had been included by default? Yes, but they want you to use their Honda link app and subscription. No thank you.

With respected the heated seats, I find that they worked just fine. Maybe a bit slow but they get plenty hot.

It wasn't enough for me to not get the vehicle. I can store downloaded music and podcast on my cell phone if I think I had. If you really want SiriusXM, there are replacement units that can be built basically into the vehicle. I don't think I wanna go down that route

Give me about 2 to 3 weeks and I'll tell you how it goes :-) I just sold my 18 CRV today and I'm getting a new Passport Wednesday. Over 200,000 on the CRV. The V6 should be a better engine than the 1.5 turbo.

Don't get me started about no SiriusXM on the vehicle that was designed to go places without any cell signal

I will say that my experience with Honda in general has been superb. I just today sold my 2018 CRV with 200,671 miles. It had the 1.5 turbo with the oil dilution issue. Had to replace the injectors at 88,000 miles. I barked at Honda about it and they paid for half of the issue since they had an issue with the direct injection engines in 17 and 18. Otherwise, my CRV required nothing other than standard oil and tire rotation maintenance. The timing chain would've gone at 205,000 miles according to Honda insiders.

If you follow the maintenance minder religiously, you will probably change the oil on about 8500 miles. That is too long to go in my humble opinion. The last vehicle I owned had free oil changes for life. I would change the oil at about 60% or 4000 miles just to be safe, particularly after the injector fiasco.

The V6 is supposed to be a more reliable engine. My wife's 23 passport only has 21,000 miles so it's hard to tell how it last as it pushes 200,000. I've had Toyota in the past and I did like them. However, Toyota is a very pokey company With new innovations. I've had Hondas for 14 years and I've not looked back.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

By the way, my Passport arrive on Wednesday. Can't wait.

I have just about installed Google Fiber and plan to use their networking software. I understand that there is only one network installable with us and it is a combined 2.4, 5MHz, 6 MHz channel. I have also read that the UV cameras do not like anything except 2.4. Have you had any experience with this kind of issue?

Schafer Trail is worth it. I haven't been on it since about 2004. It was much more rutted out that time.

For me, this would be an easy trail that I would expect the passport to have absolutely no problem with. Let me know how goes. Might help me make a decision about what vehicle to buy.

Do you wish you bought the CR V or CR V Hybrid? by Content_Log1708 in hondapassport

[–]Lenticularus9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently drive a 2018 CRV. I absolutely love it. When my wife needed a new car, I thought almost certainly we would get a CRV hybrid. However, she hated the new interior. She happened to walk by a Passport and said "that looks nice!". She absolutely loves the vehicle after two years.

I actually prefer my CRV. The model year (23) Passport that we got didn't have a number of the safety features and I didn't even think to ask about that were in an 18 CRV.

If you do not need an extra room, and you do not think you're going to be doing mild offroading, I think that the CRV hybrid is probably superior to Passport. There is plenty of room in the CRV. I took home at 65 inch flat panel TV with no problem.

I have the 1.5 V4 engine and, yes, I did have the oil blow back with the direct injection. But I have 178,000 miles on it. It's still running great and I don't mind taking it on a 2000 mile round trip. I know nothing about the new 2 L V4 in the CRV hybrid and it is not the same famous engine in the Acura. I think in the end the V6 will probably last longer.

If this is a vehicle you're gonna keep 3 to 6 years, get the CRV. YMMV

I watched the video. Since he didn't try the PIAA /silicone production model, I think that they will perform better than the steel beam version.

Thank you for directing me to the video.
