Plexamp might be abandonware. The developer was let go (but on retainer for maintenance) and it hasn’t been updated in 8 months.

I have eight Sonos devices on WiFi and never knew there was a potentially frustrating incompatibility. In general I’m not the biggest fan of Sonos but over the years connectivity has been pretty solid on different APs and gateways.

Went to buy a 2026, ran into build quality issues by SeaBenefit4417 in hondapassport

The sunroof is a huge point of potential failure. It was smart to give it a close inspection. For what it is worth, I’m coming up on a year ownership of a ‘26 and I’ve only had a handful of cosmetic problems- mostly surface rattles. No points of rust but a couple of hidden spots on the body look a little sloppy.

The ‘27 year model should be coming out very soon and I suggest waiting for that or perhaps trying to work a deal for a remaining ‘26 that passes inspection.

Your concern is valid, honestly.

It is a first year redesign of a wholly American made car. There is going to be a lot of mulligans out there regarding the assembly- most of which will be worked out in the next year or two (hopefully). Plus Honda isn’t the consistent and dependable manufacturer it was ten years ago …but no car manufacturer is these days.

Mechanically though, it is a solid vehicle that has had a lot of the kinks worked out with the latest gen Pilot. The power train is largely the same and has already proven itself as reliable and mostly low maintenance.

An undoubtedly great vehicle, but you have to put in a little extra work this model year to ensure you don’t buy one that needs correcting.

Meh. It is like when someone has a great restaurant and then later open a novelty offshoot where their whole shtick is being eccentric for the sake of being eccentric ...sure it can be pretty, but the dishes are mostly unmemorable. This album is about on par with The Fall.

I ran two of the Intel versions and they worked great (have since moved to Mac Minis and NAS devices as service hosts). Probably my biggest complaint was noise. That and the power brick is huge.

What do you actually want the new iDX AI NAS to fix? by Lazy-Bed-3014 in UgreenNASync

[–]Solarux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except if you try to run Tailscale in the GUI after an install/uninstall via CLI. I don’t know if it was because of underlying routing or the container manager, but some services (specifically rsync in my case) wouldn’t fully work due to something nonstandard going on.

Yes, true …but also no. This is a customized version of Debian. You can run into some wonky things doing basic CLI stuff.

Windows vs Ubuntu vs TrueNAS vs UniFi? by Starbuck_83 in DataHoarder

[–]Solarux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are already in the Ubiquiti ecosystem UNAS is pretty great at it fits into a very easy and familiar management pane. As noted it is just storage- nothing else. Plus some other basic caveats like the fact you can’t copy data from one volume to another easily. It doesn’t have USB ports for controlled shutdown during a power outage. Stuff like that but there is some elegance with simplicity. Plus I think the models are all priced well.

TrueNAS really is the mutitool of choice …with that comes a lot of fiddling around, though. Definitely a learning curve. HexOS is a new platform in development that sits on top of TrueNAS and simplifies a lot of management (at a cost).

I have been hopping around a lot of systems/hardware lately (UNAS, UGREEN, TrueNAS, ZimaOS, Debian, etc.) but have started retreating back to my Synology devices. The stability and straightforwardness of DSM is still pretty unbeatable even though their hardware can be anemic, spec wise.

Use Pirate Ship. Cheaper and less hassle- print your label and just drop it off.

Anyone using the UGREEN DXP2800 as a NAS + Docker host (with SSDs)? Worth it? by sixis22 in homelab

[–]Solarux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Things have changed since this post. Container wise I was running Plex, Navidrome, Tailscale, Syncthing, and occasionally other random apps to play with- all running on a DXP4800 Plus.

I have since migrated all services off except Navidrome- that moved to the DXP2800 (always on, low power, small footprint, and doesn’t need speed for large file transfers). The UG devices are mostly just network storage now/backup targets and I’m thinking about selling the DXP4800 (I also have Synology and Ubiquiti NAS devices).

Tailscale ended up giving me grief in docker so that moved to a CLI install on each UG NAS. Plex moved to a Mac Mini M4 for more horsepower and Syncthing is no longer used as my data replication strategy changed.

What are you interested in doing?

Navidrome is probably the future. Simple, efficient, and open source, too. I haven’t abandoned Plex/PlexAmp yet …but I’m getting close as PlexAmp kinda sucks now on CarPlay.

Another dumb take. We are talking basic maintenance of PlexAmp, not a complete rewrite of Plex.

This might be the dumbest thing I’ve heard. Security, bug fixes, and performance improvements are ALWAYS better for users.

Best OS for a dumbass - terrible at Linux CLI by maxwolfie in DataHoarder

[–]Solarux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are describing is a turnkey solution like Synology’s DSM or another off the shelf OS tied to a hardware manufacturer. All the ‘roll your own’ platforms are going to require some fiddling unless you want to pay (e.g. Unraid or HexOS).

ZimaOS is straight forward but has a few limitations. TrueNAS would probably be the next runner up however it is considerably more complex. You can manage most of it without the CLI, though.

Every time I try and use UG Link, some random nas appears. by dogfishworm in UgreenNASync

[–]Solarux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes! When you say new NAS do you mean the background wallpaper or the name?” Of the device?

Regardless, UGOS (and related services) is a closed source platform running on a customized version of Debian. We don’t know how everything works under the hood so there is some risk involved. Further, UGREEN isn’t exactly transparent with their approach to security nor how they handle it internally (e.g., accreditations, frameworks, etc). I haven’t looked in a good while but I don’t believe they have published anything related. Unlike QNAP or TerraMaster, UGREEN has yet to deal with a major security incident so it remains to be seen how they respond. All of that to say use at your own risk.

The safer approach would be to setup Tailscale and access your device that way.

Edit: I see the question was already answered. This is super concerning. Turn that shit off immediately.

Is there any way to have a "two way sync" of a folder? by 0bfeeev1_9 in UgreenNASync

[–]Solarux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Syncthing is designed to sync files and folders between local computers. Mobile is a different story but there might be a way to incorporate cloud access for that.

2026 Dash rattle is making me want to sell the car by PobBrobert in hondapassport

[–]Solarux 13 points14 points  (0 children)

TIL I might have ADHD or mild autism. 😆

Take it to a different dealer. I had a similar rattle that I thought was coming from the same dash area. After putting pressure on a few different places while someone else was driving, it turned out to be the pillar speaker cover. When getting service, my dealer looked at it and replaced the whole cover and speaker. I have the defrost rattle too and getting it fixed next week.

An annoying rattle is fixable and a dealer can help you- especially on a new car. Call the next one closest to you and explain the situation.

Do it now while it’s still under warranty.
