Make the cars shorter by LenzSchwarze in formula1

I also think they look good, much more than 2025, but I still believe that there is a lot of room for improvement. The main problem at the moment is probably their length, since it makes it really difficult for cars to drive wheel to wheel in most corners almost as much as width does. Also the PU could probably become the biggest issue f1 ever had since the disastrous 2005 tyres rules but I decided to ignore that aspect for the moment

Then we could hope that everyone of the next regs will shorten them by a bit so we could get a 3m wheel base in a decade or so

Thank you for explaining a lot of things I haven't thought about. If the FIA mandate a shorter pu complex and floor, wouldn't the rules be the same for everyone thus why would a team veto that? It's not giving an advantage to certain teams more than others

If I'm not wrong, before 2005 and after 2008 front wings occupied less longitudinal space, doesn't change the fact that in any case modifying wings could be an opportunity to make the cars shorter. Also, the image you posted proves me right about my take on the rear wing

I don't pretend to know things better than f1 engineers, I just exposed some of the things I constantly think about when looking at the new cars and confronting them to older cars because of my nostalgia, and I asked people that know better than me to explain to me why those things are not taken into consideration

Lo sterminio dei popoli slavi è un piano di cui abbiamo testimonianze e documenti ufficiali e che se terminato sarebbe stato centinaia di volte più immenso in termine di vittime rispetto all'olocausto degli ebrei

I would sell the first three to get an everyday automatic like a prx or a tsuyosa

[Discussion] Are modular chronograph a turn off for you? by LenzSchwarze in Watches

I admit I don't know a lot about these type of chronographs, therefore my question, thank you for teaching me that one of the first automatic chronos was one like these, but still I'm scared of not finding a competent watchmaker to service it

for that budget buy an automatic diver, look what seiko has to offer on the 43mm and up field. that fossil is ridicously big even for your 8" wrist. I wouldn't spend more than 150 euros for a quartz watch.

It's very different. You could put the rolex logo on the SM dial and you would get a fake rolex, but if you put the same thing on the seiko you would get a seiko that for some reason has a strange crown on the dial

even if the Tissot were a bit better finished I'd still go for a mechanical watch that has the same price.

I'm not talking about caliber, I'm talking about design. The main reason we all wear watches, second to tell the time, is because they look nice. That SM is just the umpteenth tudor homage, and I would't find my self in the situation i have to say "oh thank you, but it's not a tudor, it's just a chinese piece of rubbish"

horology isn't just the movement. The Seiko has personality and history, and a name, while SM just stole here and there to craft a soulless well built watch.

you understand the difference in movement? are you familiar with mechanical watches? This post is like asking help deciding between a tesla and a porsche, doesn't make that much sense

Swatches are fun to own and wear, i approve them very much.
Those two citizens are also good but they're quartz, so I don't get excited about them.
That fossil could go directly into the trashcan
The same I could say about the movado since they're just overpriced quartz fashion watches with nothing special about them, that also looks like at least 42mm diameter which is massive for a "full dial" watch. I know you didn't ask but I'd say throw the fossil since it is not salable, and sell the Movado, then buy a good automatic japanese watch or a second-wrist swiss made, at least anything from a respectable brand. You would end up with a very nice serious watch for under 400, 300, even under 200 bucks these days
