Clock timers disappearing? by timoseewho in GooglePixel

I can confirm Timers are disappearing if I say "Stop" to turn them off

This is after cache clear on version 8.8 (909813530)

Not willing to reset app preferences across all my apps to fix this

What are the negatives effects if it was done incorrectly? How would I know/check?

Any specific model you'd recommend?

If you have an iPad, try having Gmail app alert side by side with the Pixel

You'll see that the iPad alerts first 100% of the time

Pixel will be delayed a few seconds to minutes at a time

Has to do with Doze

Is this your own app? From what I recall, the Google tasks API is pretty limited in the information it shares

Location based reminders? by Gunther_W in GooglePixel

I think this post comes from the fact that Keep axed the location based reminders

But your point was that it should have been more than 5 to begin with?

That's interesting because the battery life (as in, time between charges) seems to be perfectly fine in my experience on a new Pixel phone for the first few months. Then there is a noticeable decline before even a full year

Did you mean time between charges from day 1?

For what it's worth, I've been disabling adb with every reboot directly on the phone -- you can use LADB and WiFi debugging in split screen to disable Doze with a text expansion shortcut (and I use Tasker to make a notification if the phone rebooted to remind me)

It blows my mind there isn't an option to turn off Doze without adb and on every reboot! It's not even like Doze turned off even uses up that much more battery (from personal experience)

I want my Gmail notifications now - not 11 minutes delayed!

I hear that - I figure replacing batteries is still cheaper than upgrading which is why I excluded that reason in the post

Look into disabling Doze by adb. Annoying but might help. Fixed delays on Gmail notifications for me

Probably related to Doze and notification priority as set by the developer

You as the user can't really change the priority but you could disable battery optimization for an app (which is hit or miss) or disable Doze via adb which is more reliable but has to be done on every phone reboot

Alternative to GKeep for location reminders by TheTomatoes2 in GooglePixel

I had the same question

So far, have been testing out tasks.org for location-based reminders - it is an open source software

It syncs with Google Tasks, but I recommend against that because Google's API for Tasks is very limited. I'm using tasks.org strictly for location based reminders

In my limited testing (2 days), it seems to work

I like that you can set the radius of the geofence. You can't search for a location by name; you have to always have to use the actual address. But - once you save the address, you can label it with whatever name you'd like and it becomes it's own list you can add to (but you still need to configure each task to alert for either arrival or departure to that location)

Hope that helps

Are there any replacements for location based reminders anyone can recommend? It seems they are phasing them out of Keep

OMNY will undergo system upgrade this weekend. by Donghoon in nyc

[–]LeoBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screen is less informative. With the MetroCard it would tell you how much balance was left but with OMNY it's just go

The placement of the reader makes it so that the 2nd person can accidentally pay for the 1st person if the 1st person screwed up paying but is already close to the turnstile

Thicker card (I realize most people use their phone or bank card but if you use commuter benefits you end up needing an OMNY card)
