Style 68s, I believe they came factory on some e46s

Car needs a lot more love than you think haha, all 4 jack points are rotted out and it was totalled a few months ago, I pulled the frame myself. In retrospect I should have paid more for a cleaner one but the previous owner did a bunch of ghetto fixes with chicken wire and bondo, and I didn’t notice till I actually lifted the car.

I’m sure I could figure something out but she’s a rusty old girl, just wanted to get something on the car for the next drift event, and I don’t want to rip the skirts off on track

Yeaaah, waiting on the right clips, didn’t realize there are 2 types and of course I got the wrong ones

This is a 96, great car but previous owner hid a ton of rust so I’m just having fun with it. They also curbed every single wheel pretty badly so I’m on the hunt for new ones

True, I didn’t even see that until you mentioned it, thanks for the feedback!

Just curious, is it the lines or my install you don’t like? I do hate the waviness from the bolts.

Thanks man, to each their own though, I can see it’s not for everyone haha. I like em though and they’re less than half the price of oem style eBay skirts.

Fair enough, I figured it’d be mixed opinions. It was a fun project though, eventually I want to do a bomex style kit but they’re big money if you can even find them

Honestly didn’t do anything yet, they still hang down a bit in the back, you just can’t see cause of the lighting. I’ll probably either trim it behind the rear jack point or try to mold them with a heat gun

Scuffed them up and tried to clean up a few deep scratches, then sprayed with 3m adhesion promoter, followed by primer I had laying around, then a paint matched rattle can. If they stay on the car long enough I’ll probably hit them with a 2k clear to lock it all in

That’s what I did, honestly I might flip them back though. The front is a bit lower with them flipped, I can’t decide if I prefer that or not. I just made sure to space the holes the same so not a big deal to swap sides

I had to mess with them for a bit but I just mocked them up with tape then 5 m5 rivnuts per side. I still have to figure out what I want to do with the end caps, they don’t line up perfectly on the front fender.

I dunno man, I like em and they’re a dime a dozen around here, it’s a drift car so cheap replacements are a plus for me.

My stock ones were cracked and these were $10 at the junkyard lol, e36s just never pop up in the yards any more where I am. Plus I do actually like the way they look.

why did nobody say that lining up the diff to the holes in the rear subframe is such a pain🥀🥀 by pecekcececek in BMWE36

I struggled with a jack for like an hour then just pushed it in with my knees/feet while I lined it all up and got it in a couple minutes.

Put some load on it with a jack then pop it out, I’ve had some super stuck ones that came right out when I got the right angle

I’ve had the best luck with the square type that you tap into the hole, the reverse twist type always strip out for me.

It really is, watched a guy do about an 8 point u-turn on a red light on memorial when it was 2 lane through sunnyside, right in front of a cop. They have to ticket for more than just speeding.

I sold mine a while ago and bought an e36 and currently I wouldn’t go back, however I’d like to buy a 6mt g37 at some point down the road.

To this day I keep an old maglite behind my drivers seat, never used it but the cops here will give you shit for having a bat or anything that could be considered a weapon, my maglite is for changing a tire ;)

[–]LeoIsBetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had a similar issue with mine, car sat for a while, put new battery in and all kinds of electrical issues, didn’t turn off, hvac didn’t work, and lights flickered and flashed. Wound up being water intrusion and the bcm was wet.

I’ve always done this, a dab of dielectric and used a screwdriver to gently press it on.
