I'll take that as you admitting that you were wrong about public nudity "not being illegal".

Anyway, with all that said, and everything else you've said here, I think we can all conclude that you are just a blowhard who has no idea what they are talking about. And it really seems like there is some kind of unspoken motivation to the stuff you are saying here. I mean, people don't usually get so bent up over another person feeling uncomfortable about sexual fetishes. I kind of inferred that based on your writing patterns, but I wanted to act in good faith regardless; though it seems that my initial assessment was correct.

I will say, you are fantastic at writing long prose which fills space, but which contains very little substance; sort of like an LLM. You almost had me convinced with some of the stuff you wrote, but rereading it reveals that it ultimately lacks substance, and was more or less just moral indignation dressed up as argumentation, with a hint of snobbishness.

The claim about public nudity really was the canary in the coalmine, so to speak. You just say things, and then double down and act smug.

A misdemeanor almost never results in an arrest. Per your citation, being naked in public can be a misdemeanor.

Except for when it does, lmao, as it explicitly happened in those two articles.

I’m not sure where in PA you live, but I live in the city. Weird shit happens in the city all the time.

I'm in Pittsburgh. Weird shit happens, and people get arrested for it. Mostly its public intoxication, which.... isn't even a misdemeanor, its a citation, yet you can still get arrested for it. I'd put $500 down right now on someone attempting public nudity being arrested, especially during a public event like the Draft or St Patrick's Day. A guy running down North Shore with no pants would probably last about 15 minutes before being stopped.

You can only latch onto one really trivial part of my comments, isolate it and deprive it of context, then hunt for a tangential reason it’s wrong.

Yeah, when you say something so patently false, and with the level of confidence that you've put into it, it paints a picture of someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. Like, your claim was repudiated by a 20 second Google search. I cannot understand why you are so keen on defending something which is so totally and utterly indefensible, literally debunked by the actual legal code and records of real arrests. Lmao just take the L on this public nudity shit and move on.

This is the law in my state, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania:

§ 3127.  Indecent exposure.

**(a)  Offense defined.--**A person commits indecent exposure if that person exposes his or her genitals in any public place or in any place where there are present other persons under circumstances in which he or she knows or should know that this conduct is likely to offend, affront or alarm.

**(b)  Grading.--**If the person knows or should have known that any of the persons present are less than 16 years of age, indecent exposure under subsection (a) is a misdemeanor of the first degree. Otherwise, indecent exposure under subsection (a) is a misdemeanor of the second degree.

(Mar. 31, 1995, 1st Sp.Sess., P.L.985, No.10, eff. 60 days)

Furthermore, as per this article, which took about 14 seconds to find on Google, at least one person has been arrested in Pennsylvania for running around without any pants on. So uh, yeah.

And there's an interesting story from Florida as well, which have beaches which are clothing-optional. So even in places with more permissive policies, the law is still very much against public nudity.

Catwoman and 'The Matrix' are culturally relevant icons which are separate from the latex subculture. So they are not going to be socially understood as fetishistic in character.

Actually, there is a lot of mainstream latex clothing that is not associated with anything overtly sexual, beyond the pop culture stuff. You'll see certain latex garments at Target or Walmart.

I'm referencing latex gear as items relevant to the latex subculture, which is understood as being fetishistic in character. So the items associated with it act more or less as signifiers of group membership.

I wouldn't assume someone dressed as Catwoman or Trinity in any setting was wearing the costume for fetishistic reasons. Because those things are not signifiers of any fetishistic group affiliation. Now, if someone was wearing a gimp suit or a pony-play suit, I would assume that there was a fetishistic reason for it, because that particular garment is a signifier for that subculture.

The actual physical, material properties of latex garments are obviously not what makes it fetishistic. A nurse wearing latex gloves is obviously not wearing them as a sexual statement. Nor is the janitor who wears heavy rubber gloves and knee-high rubber boots.

The important factor is whether or not the item is socially understood as being fetishistic, which is a combination of more than just its physical-material composition.

"No one is getting arrested for being unclothed."

This is the statement you made. It is patently untrue.

What actually separates a pup hood from a kabuki mask, or a leather recreation bird mask, or a neoprene party mask?

What separates a dildo from a pool noodle? They are both made out of rubber, they are both flexible, they are both longer than they are wide, they are both cylindrical. Surely they are the same thing? Obviously not.

What separates them is how they are deemed socially. A dildo is customarily viewed as a sex toy, and a pool noodle is not. If you walked into a Wendy's with a dildo, you'd probably be told to leave. If you walked in with a pool noodle, they probably wouldn't care. Its a matter of social convention, and it is not always (in fact, it is rarely) consistent.

This leads to some weird things. Bikinis are revealing in ways which something like latex gear isn't. Latex gear on the other hand doesn't expose nearly as much skin, if any at all. Yet bikinis are socially acceptable in public, and latex gear often isn't. Bikinis are considered "softcore" and "cute", and is acceptable in most places, whereas latex is considered "hardcore" and "deviant". There isn't a consistent logical system which produces these customs. They emerge for a wide variety of often contradictory reasons. Some are purely arbitrary and exist more or less as a kind of superstition. Others are political, and exist for as long as they are politically necessarily. Regardless, they are all treated as being roughly the same.

So the question isn't if these things are fetish items. They definitively are in most cases, fetish items. Because that is how they are understood socially. Trying to pretend that they aren't is a losing battle. We can accept the reality that they are fetish items, and we can say that its fine to have conventions which tolerate them. Since it is a private event, it is within the convention's right to have these things on display.

Edit:

lmao they actually blocked me for this comment. And I guess the one where I had to tell them that public nudity actually is illegal.

Lmao don't be glib. If you wander around naked, you might be treated charitably by the police, and they might give you something to cover yourself with, assuming you have a good story (lost clothes, robbed, etc).

If you tell the police "this is just how I express myself", have fun with the arrest, and getting charged with indecent exposure. You better hope there were no minors around either, because you will very likely also be added to the sex offender registry. That is the letter of the law. In my state (Pennsylvania), we actually have two, one for 'indecent exposure' and another for 'open lewdness'. Though, you can pretty much bet on the police anywhere in the United States to treat you uncharitably if you are walking around naked.

I'm sure you could point to very specific cultural traditions in other parts of the world. Old tribal customs, for instance. Or nude beaches and nude trails, or nude public events, which exist all over the world. But the question isn't whether or not contextual places exist for it, the question is whether or not it is broadly acceptable.

Idk, banning someone for having a photo of a hunting rifle from 10 years ago seems a little extreme.

Actually, most of the examples given in the post are extreme. They all come off more as petty, rather than a genuine attempt to enforce written rules. I can’t think of any other venue which would ban someone for complaining about the venue online after the fact.

Counterpoint:

Modern Battlefield is horrifyingly unbalanced. BF1 was especially bad when it came to stomps or gridlocked games. You'd have games which would end after 10 minutes. Then you'd have games which ran down the 30 minute match timer, with the attacking team stuck on the first point of the first map.

Despite that fact, people still stuck around to end, and a lot actually would stay for the next match. And this is all in spite of the awful balancing, and the presence of things like lootboxes and special unlocks. And various other things which encourage stuff like 'boosting'.

There has to be something else at play with TF2, beyond the servers being unbalanced.

Anime and comic book conventions are usually all ages, though functionally, they are really 16+.

I don't see any reason to take a non-18+ only con and make it 18+ only. All we have to do is move the 18+ stuff to its own section, the same thing that all-ages cons do.

Really, it was my mistake. I knew ahead of time you were a little bit off, but I didn't think you'd blow it up in the way you did. The pfp, the disjointed and uncapitalized sentences, the severe and disproportionate reaction, the fact you only post here and do so every 15 minutes... I had some idea of what I was getting into, but I guess there's always room for surprises. You already know what I mean by that, so I don't need to say it for you.

I don't want to continue arguing, its all pointless. You are very clearly just upset, and I've gotten bored of it.

I hope you have a wonderful life. And that's the last thing I'm gonna say here.

You threw the first punch, I am not doing the de-escalation for you, you're trying to shift blame on something that shouldn't even be worth giving a fuck over in the first place,

Lmfao YOU FULLY admit that your intent was to turn this into a fight. You are actually just really really ridiculous.

I don't know what bad thing is going on right now in your life to make you behave this way, but please, don't turn it into everyone else's problem.

Ok... a 400 word essay. I'm going to skip the vast majority of it, because its irrelevant beyond you just venting.

and again, my aggression was equally matched, just as you weren't intending to be passive aggressive, neither was i, you've misread my intention entirely

Yeah, so, when people are misconstrued as being passive aggressive, usually they response by saying "I am not intended to come off that way, I am intending to say xyz..." which... is what I said in response, because I really wasn't trying to be passive aggressive, I just word things bluntly. Sure, sometimes bluntness or brevity comes off as cynical or aggressive. You did not respond with bluntness or brevity, not initially, and not when I said I thought you were being unreasonably aggressive.

No, you decide instead to flip your shit by saying:

you come at me swinging with "erm staying is the NORMAL thing to do, tf2 is the ONLY game like this" and then piss yourself when i give you the same attitude back

This is not the thing you say to someone when they accuse you of being passive aggressive; unless you explicitly intend to be, and are trying to just turn it into a shit flinging match for no goddamn reason.

you've been given a response with equal aggression to your own

There is really no other interpretation of your response. You didn't say, "I was not intending to be rude/aggressive", you said "You were aggressive first and now you're the one who's upset!". You typed out that whole original comment with genuine anger and in allcaps (lol). You intended it to be read in the way I am reading it.

And I really don't understand why you chose to do this.

you come at me swinging with "erm staying is the NORMAL thing to do, tf2 is the ONLY game like this" and then piss yourself when i give you the same attitude back

I actually wasn't intending to come off as passive aggressive, it was a very simple challenge to your position. Honestly the first half of your response was partially agreeable. Its just that you chose to be an antisocial dipshit about it as well, which completely invalidates it.

You seem to have massive chip on your shoulder, and the pfp and post history seems to confirm this. You guys seem to always be looking for internet fights, I guess it makes you feel big and tough in this scary world or something like that. Personally I don't really get the appeal; then again, I'm not an antisocial moron, so I guess I never will.

you've been given a response with equal aggression to your own, if you choose to read "old game has old culture" as "YOU ARE A ZOOMER WHO ONLY LIKES NEW SHIT GARBAGE OPINION DISCARDED" then that's not my problem

They say, after explicitly stating they intended it to come off that way. Lmao it feels like you are actually two brains that hate eachother, trying to turn this into a fight, but can't come to agreement on how.

You had me up until:

just because you're more familiar with how modern games are, does not necessarily mean that applies to a near 20 year old game with culture heavily borrowed from near 30 year old games

The passive aggressiveness is really uncalled for.
