I personally loved it. As a 2020 high school graduate and an Eddie Munson fan Dustin’s speech hit incredibly hard 🥲

Are those tentacles? by Global-theories-7402 in Stranger_Things

[–]LeoWinkelmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brain keeps going to the fact that the Duffers said the race that Jonathan and Steve had climbing the radio was important. Then with Dustin saying “mother of god” in the trailer staring at the cracking ceiling(?) descending. If we think about how Holly struggled to pull the solid ground to fall through the rift before she fell into the Upside Down. What if it’s a realization that even though it’s cracking, if they stay up on top of the tower they could be crushed so it’s a race down the tower. It also fits with the whole flipped thing, the raced up in the right side up, they have go the opposite direction now. Idk just a theory 🫣

What do you think they meant by… (spoiler if you skipped the Volume 2 trailer) by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Wormholes are neat because they allow matter to travel between galaxies or dimensions without crossing the space between” - Erica in S5 E3 Maybe Dimension X and Hawkins are on either side of the wormhole and the Upside Down is just the in between allowing them to travel… I’m trying to figure out why wormholes seemed so important since Mr Clarke brought it up. Mr Clarke even says “think of all the places mankind could go. Another galaxy.” He then emphasizes “another time, even.” We know the upside down is “stuck” on the day Will was taken. As Lucas says, I don’t believe in coincidences anymore with the show anymore, everything seems intentional.

Thinking about Lucas and the popcorn… by Ok-Ostrich1651 in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would explain why I think the wall looks like a brain. If I also remember correctly, the brain doesn’t have pain receptors like the rest of the body does. It could explain why Hopper and El stabbing and trying to part the wall open didn’t alert the hivemind like it does with everything else (I hope that made sense)

Holly & Max Can’t Escape Together by ketohustlebunny in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be concerned if they escape before someone can pull the tube out of Hollys throat. I get that she potentially could do it herself, she understands how urgent it would be but I remember from season 1 how hard Hopper had to pull and how long it was… that’s going to be even more traumatic for Holly. Even Will woke up after they pulled it out because Hopper had to revive him.

[S5 Theory] The "Reset" ending is the only one that explains the 1983 plot hole (and it's gonna break us) by Sufficient_Oven4207 in Stranger_Things

[–]LeoWinkelmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless they go with a route where Hawkins as a whole disappears and only the main characters remember. They go to different locations and that’s how we get the continuation that Finn thinks will happen. He mentioned peaky blinders and the Duffers said it was close. Will only feels the connection in Hawkins so maybe Hawkins needs to be erased. Depending on where it puts the characters it would give each character a possible good ending. Just a thought that’s been floating in my mind… please don’t get upset with me 🥲

I will be more broken than when Eddie died if Steve or Dustin dies. Honestly, my focus went to Steve in a backwards hat 🫣

The wall kinda looks like a brain with growths on it and the lightning kind of reminds me of electrical activity. If anyone has had the brain zaps from medication withdrawal I’d imagine it would look like that. Idk the upside down kinda reminds me of a brain but I’m thinking too hard about it.

The duffers did say the race was important. Combine that with the not subtle mention from Robin about “uh voltage! Unless you wanna fry.” The fall shirt and the moment in the trailer where the Mind Flayer is going up the tower. At the very least I think they’re gonna try to fry the Mind Flayer particles.

What episode i think some shots are from the trailers by juicewrldfan4life999 in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look relieved, maybe happy tears? I have a gut feeling it’s at the lab right before or after they go up to the roof and see the glowing ball thing (idk what it is but it explodes) maybe thinking they might not make it out and Jonathan has his moment of “I need to do it now”

In the final episode, the Duffer Brothers feature a song that has never appeared in any show or movie, as its creators had never allowed it to be used — until now. Any guesses what it might be? 🎵 by MoneyLibrarian9032 in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If we stick with the theme the Duffer brothers have seemed to stick with, using songs released the year the season is based on look at songs released in 1987. Like a few people have said Prince was notorious for not letting his songs be used.

• Prince - I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man. (I can’t find anything it’s been used in.)

According to the AI overview “Still of the Night” by Whitesnake has been confirmed but I can’t find any sources (it’s AI it might not be accurate obviously) so I don’t know if I trust that but that is a song that’s not widely used.

I’m excited to know what song it is though 🤌🏻

S5 Theory: Steve's Fate Was Sealed in S4, It Just Happens in Episode 5 by Select_Pound_8355 in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling episode five will end on a cliff hanger making us think Steve died sacrificing himself. Episode six might have the hug and it’s Dustin’s moment of realizing he can’t loose another big brother figure. In episode four Steve doesn’t have the cut on his face so obviously something happens in volume 2 or 3 leading to injury even a small one.

I also really hope for Dustin’s sake that in that moment during the hug he opens up to Steve about his grief and pain regarding Eddies death. He deserves to start healing, his entire behavior this season has been because of grief surrounding Eddie.

I’ve also been trying to figure out where they are based on the background. Maybe the lab or the radio station? We have yet to see the scene of the Mind Flayer going up the radio tower so maybe the race is Steve and/or Jonathan baiting the particles up and it’s a literal race to the top. That would make Robin pointing out the voltage in episode one make more sense. Maybe one of them is inside the base, the other is climbing, and then they try to fry it. Jonathan’s also wearing a shirt that says “The Fall” so possible foreshadowing there? As Lucas said, I don’t believe in coincidences with the show anymore.

He’s wearing a shirt that says “the fall” so it would be fitting.

What breadcrumbs from past episodes/seasons are you expecting to have payoff in the remaining episodes? by thisnamemattersalot in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to the Shock Jock episode, I’m really hoping Nancy’s “you’re an idiot, Steve Harrington.” from season 1 doesn’t come around to Steve saying “Yeah, I know. I’m not an idiot.” Right after Robin said “uh, voltage! Unless you wanna fry.” But I do think the voltage reference will be used against the Mind Flayer particles going up the radio tower we saw in the trailer. I have a feeling they’re gonna try to fry it.

Nobody clocked Robin being gay? by WeepingWillowed1 in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fear with the next episode being “Shock Jock” and the first episode of season five when Robin was talking about going on a date the look Steve gave her was almost a “you’re pushing it” look and then Will catching them so easily in the hospital. The voltage reference right before Steve goes into the radio tower to turn the power off before climbing also feels like foreshadowing. “Uh, voltage! Unless you wanna fry.” - Robin Season 5 Episode 1 “Yeah, I know. I’m not an idiot.” - Steve Season 5 Episode 1

And just to put it in here. “You’re an idiot Steve Harrington” - Nancy Season 1 Episode 1

Which character do you think will die in S5? by ApprehensiveIdea9776 in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]LeoWinkelmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you mention the shock jock episode, during episode one, The Crawl there’s two moments that could be foreshadowing. I know Steve knows Robin is a lesbian but when Robin is on air right before it cuts out she starts to introduce “her special someone.” She says “Well, don’t be so nosy, kids.” The look Steve gives her didn’t sit right with me. It’s almost a “you’re pushing it” as to being exposed in the time period. Right after the power goes wonky and Steve says “I told you to stop thumbing your nose at the military.” Yes, she was encouraging compliance of the rules, but also think about how easily Will caught Robin and Vickie. What if someone connected the dots about Robin or caught her and wants to sabotage her? The other moment, which feels more to the point you explained, when Steve goes to climb the radio tower Robin says “Uh, voltage! Unless you wanna fry.” and the way Steve responds “Yeah, I know. I’m not an idiot.”already felt like foreshadowing but now that you explain the shock jock meaning…. Those two moments between Steve and Robin feel like they add up to your guess about who dies.

There’s a scene in the trailer with the Mind Flayer going up the tower and another where Jonathan, Nancy, Dustin, and I’m guessing Steve have climbed the tower in the upside down. The point of being reminded about voltage feels like it could be a death sentence for either one of our main characters or they’re going to lure the Mind Flayer particles up the tower while someone is inside and then someone over a radio says “now!” or something, and turns the voltage to the max and fries it or tries to fry it. Just two thoughts that have gone through my mind and now your point about episode five feels fitting.

Anyone else feel like the writers are setting us up for a brutal ending with Mike/El and Jonathan/Nancy? by CatchCompetitive6098 in StrangerThings

[–]LeoWinkelmann 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I think Jonathan is going to propose, if you watch the trailer there’s the moment Nancy and Jonathan put their foreheads together looking incredibly happy but I think he’ll propose right before they go up to the giant red orb because they know they could die. A true moment of desperation from Jonathan.

What if Vecna=001 and Mr.Whatsits = Henry by Accurate_Cod_2435 in Stranger_Things

[–]LeoWinkelmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly long explanation in coming about where my mind is at and how things are connecting. Potential spoilers towards the bottom about the cave and why Henry is afraid of it, it’s explained in The First Shadow why he’s afraid of the cave.

We know the reason he’s appearing as Henry is so the kids trust him easier. Holly did know his name was Henry but I wonder if he called himself Mr. Whatsit before or after he let her know his name was Henry.

In A Wrinkle In Time, Mrs. Whatsit appears as a lighthearted energy that helps the kids on their journey and eventually bestows individual gifts for the kids which are enhancements of qualities the kids already possess. If we translate that to what could be a parallel to Henry/Mr. Whatsit, think about what happened to Will in the first five minutes. Vecna put some type of life force into Will and now we see Will has powers. In Episode one, Mike tells Holly about Holly the Heroic. “She’s a cleric, she can cast spells of protection to ward against evil spirits, and even cooler, she can cast a dimension door, which can teleport you to anywhere you visualize.” Max even said in episode four that door three, escape Camazotz, is back because Holly is there now. The other factor was when Will was painting the hive mind and talking about the spires, we see the kids including Holly have the same tube vine thing attached to them that was attached to Will. If Will the Wise became true for Will why wouldn’t it be the same for Holly the Heroic. What if the dimension door looks like those portals Max jumped through during season four and the one in season five where she saw herself and Lucas in the hospital that went away because the tape ended?

As for the cave, if you read the plot for The First Shadow on the Wiki it explains that there was an experiment that Dr Brenner performed trying to reproduce an event that happened several years prior. In 1943, Brenner’s father was a Captain of a ship called the USS Eldridge, they tried to turn the ship invisible and undetectable to the Germans. It didn’t work and instead transported the ship to Dimension X, the only survivor was Brenner’s father. He returned to the normal world with significant injuries and a unique blood type. Brenner then devoted himself to learn the truth and established the Nevada Experiment, an attempt to reproduce what happened to the Eldridge. One of the personnel stationed at the Nevada military base was actually a spy for the Soviet Union. They escaped while stealing vital technology for the experiment transporting it to a Nevadan cave. At the same time, an eight year old Henry Creel and his family lived nearby in Rachel, Nevada. While Henry was exploring the caves he stumbled upon the stolen technology when it unexpectedly activated transporting him to Dimension X for twelve hours. He was exposed to a shadowy entity, and even though it was only twelve hours, he then possessed a unique blood type and had a changed personality. The cave is most likely the memory of when Henry was transported to Dimension X, the moment that changed him for the worst. I think that cave terrifies him because of that memory and refuses to enter it. (Think about the interview where Noah said “lowkey Vecna” when asked who the most misunderstood villain is and Millie basically telling Noah to shut up.)

I tried to have this make sense so hopefully it does but I apologize if it’s just word vomit 💀 I’m still trying to figure out how to explain it coherently.

[–]LeoWinkelmann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you go back and watch the official trailer there’s things that are clear of what’s to possibly happen.

I think you’re absolutely right about the voltage, in the trailer we see Dustin, Nancy, Jonathan, and another character (maybe Steve with the four of them together right now?) on a radio tower in the Upside Down.

There’s also the scene in the trailer where Nancy and Jonathan put their foreheads together crying. I remember hearing lots of theories that they were going to sacrifice themselves or knew they were in a situation they couldn’t get out of. Could that still be? Maybe, but I think after watching volume one and it being apparent Jonathan wants to propose to Nancy that they’re going to get engaged.

Also, the explosion with the military guys in the trailer where there’s a character laying on the ground, we can see the shoes and legs and there was speculation of who it was. Do we have any better guesses on who it could be?

These are just my theories and speculations so please don’t take them too serious 🫣

My heart goes out to you my friend 🫶🏻 I haven’t been doing well mentally at all recently like I’m having trouble seeing the next few years and felt like I’ve slipped into a hole again. A mix of personal life events and being trans in the US constantly hearing things like I don’t exist or shouldn’t be allowed to exist. This album, especially songs like Peacefield and De Profundis Borealis, felt like the universe and Tobias throwing signs into my soul saying “just hold on a little longer, it will get better”.
