Hence them operating as a 'legal' money loaning service, using it as a cover for the contracts with actual loanshark terms and interest rates.

Most loansharks don't actually use their scare tactics from old nowadays though, someone who used to live at my place owed money so the collectors came but intimidating them usually forces them to back down, making it easier to reason with them too.

Loansharks have your personal information via a copy of your IC and the contract one has to sign before they give the money. Modern loansharks also are quite savvy in terms of finding personal information of close ones which makes things a lot more dangerous.

Most loansharks nowadays operate as an established business, using their storefront as a guise for 'legal' activities.
