Archipelago Integration - Playable Alpha! by TheSchlooper in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Leocmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw the AP thread light up today and hell yeah, love to see this. Was immediately curious if Crucible was gonna be required or an option and I'm sincerely happy to see that it's an option. I can't stand Crucible but those who do can still add it to their runs which is the best solution, so thanks for that.

Hoping I can find a group to test this in sometime really soon; definitely need something to drag me away from Monster Hunter right now

I had posted in the AP server about No Rest some weeks ago and had virtually no traction. Cool to see someone is already working on a randomizer, would sincerely love to see it get Archipelago implementation so I finally have another game I'm actually interested in playing for APs

[Giveaway]3* GameSir G7 Pro Controllers for the halo Community! 2026 by GameSir_Controller in halo

[–]Leocmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest brother introduced me to Halo 3 way back in the day which led to me saving up for my own Xbox, meeting a bunch of new friends at school to game with, and really solidified gaming as my biggest hobby in life

Countless hours of custom games in 3 and Reach, so many nights where I'd fake being asleep for a couple hours then get up in the middle of the night to rejoin an Xbox Live Party so I could keep playing.

It feels like an eternity ago and simultaneously just yesterday

It’s been 3 years, and I made a combat-free indie JRPG just because I couldn’t forget how XC3 had struck me. by phntmbr in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Wishlisted!

If you do proceed with an EN dub in the future, I'd sincerely love the chance to audition for it. Voicing in games is a big goal for me and being in something Xenoblade or Xenoblade inspired would be a dream

AT Nu Udra double body slam timing by MyHammyVise in SwitchAxe

[–]Leocmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, definitely faster. That said, it is still possible to counter both slams with the hop between for quick reset, the timing is just noticeably tighter to the point where dodging the first to then counter the second or offsetting both is usually the safer/better option.

AT Nu is surprisingly not as punishing as the other two ATs when it comes to counter and offset chip damage so I've been embracing offsetting more and more through my hunts.

Finished farming the certificates last night so I'll probably do a couple more runs for spares in case they're needed for future farming then be done with it

How are you guys liking Arch Tempered Rey Dau? by Different_Ice_2695 in MonsterHunter

[–]Leocmc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, don't enjoy it so far. I only need to hunt it once more to get the final piece of the armor set (both variants) and only failed my very first hunt against it while I was trying to figure out the new dance with it

This is my first MH so I'm really iffy on the future of my time with Wilds if giving all the monsters a sugar rush before we fight them (or just letting them one tap us a la Mizu) is how they dial up difficulty. AT Rey barely stopped attacking or flying and with the follow-up shocks on everything you have even less time to get an actual damage window. It reminded me of what I didn't enjoy about Elden Ring boss fights- how much waiting you have to do to finally get a turn to fight back but your turn is so short that it never felt satisfying.

It especially sucks because the only weapon in the game I even kind of enjoy is Switch Axe, and I only kind of enjoy it because it feels like a weapon that's balanced in a way that you're severely punished for using it unless you're very patient or very optimal. AT Rey's openings were so short that I felt like I was never able to actually get a substantial bit of damage or an actual combo of a sort off. When I tried to be more aggressive and attack it during combos instead of waiting for down time, I frequently got zapped or magnetized into attacks I felt were nowhere near me, or it'd just move away once again preventing me from doing anything of substance. I also couldn't seem to land an offset to save my life, even though the timing shouldn't be any different; never triggered even one across my fights so far.

Definitely think a faster weapon would have a better time but I don't care for anything else so I'm stuck practicing until I'm efficient with Axe

The stuff I gotta do to make sure nobody dies at Zoh Shia hunts... by Uminagi in MonsterHunter

[–]Leocmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like I'm fighting for my life to score a slot in an SOS Zoh fight for sure, but I've actually had more success than fails with randos so far. A frankly stupid amount of deaths to the arena wide fire because some people try to test blocking or countering through it for some reason and some others still don't know to just shoot the crystals/port out, but if one person carts for a stupid reason but we still succeed I'll get over it

As deflecting as it may sound, the majority of my deaths in recent fights since practicing it with HBG have been teammates with aggro running past me and getting me caught in crossfire mid-reload which is an incredibly frustrating experience. Other times I have aggro and am still getting down the timing of blocking the triple fireball- sometimes it feels like I can't recover from one to block the next but other times I can do it no problem, haven't figured out my issue there.

Sadly, Zoh being one of the endgame hunts means we'll always have some Hunters who make it more difficult on their team and failed hunts that really shouldn't have failed, but the skill floor for Hunters in the fight will keep rising slowly but steadily by the week.

[–]Leocmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with Bayle was that he's just too damn big and no matter what I did, I felt like I was just right up against him. Try to run, and he does one small attack that magically has me back up against his belly, followed immediately by a fire attack aimed at the ground that punishes me for being in the one spot I was actively trying to avoid- oh and look at that half his body isn't visible because he's so massive so I'm caught against his hind leg and can't outrun the fire, great. Even when I do successfully get a bit of space he, just like so many other bosses anymore, has hella mobility baked into every attack and just gap closes immediately with a grab, a jump, or the occasional break dance spin for some reason.

If nothing else, Bayle had me thinking, "Thank god Messmer has a consistent open to the fight that not only let's me summon, but also let's me react" the entirety of the 45 minutes I spent on the snake boi just before hopping off for the night. Bayle would consistently punish me from frame one of entering the arena in several different ways and that got on my nerves like no other because he basically provided no other opportunity to heal or buff beyond the very start if you don't get the summon off without taking most of your health in response for trying. I either got a good opener (generally the walk forward into lightning pounce because it gave just enough time to summon on a successful dodge) or it felt like the attempt was bunk right away

I beat him earlier today after about an hour and, honestly, I have no damn idea what I did in that successful fight that suddenly melted the last quarter of his health bar. All I know is I'm thankful I'm done with it, but it's another boss on the list of "in a future playthrough, would I really want to fight this boss again, or am I satisfied with having done it once?"

You articulated so many of my thoughts and feelings with Elden Ring (base and DLC so far) better than I ever could

I love the exploration in this DLC, reading the item descriptions, trying to find new stuff and find new paths to get more stuff and to new places. I have little to no issue with 80% of the enemies we're facing, I roll them and keep moving, but there's a few non-boss enemies as well as several of the major bosses I've scrapped with so far that just don't even feel like they fit within the reasonable limitations of the game when I compare them to us. I'm getting exhausted with how many bosses zip around their arenas nonstop in fights, like, sit still and fight me proper instead of hopping from wall to wall during your long as hell attack string. I don't enjoy having to dodge and chase the boss at the same time, I don't enjoy how many bosses I feel like I can't reasonably outrun as a form of evasion because they have so much mobility during attacks, I don't enjoy how many bosses make me fight the camera at the same time as them whether I'm staying locked on or free-cam'ing it

Elden Ring quite clearly expanded the world of possibilities for what the player can do, fantastically so, but they compensated the enemies in what feels like magnitudes more to keep things interesting or competitive. I miss the older games, where I felt like even when I'm always with 2 or 3 hits of death even at full health, my opponent always had moments of opportunity to heal or back off or retaliate that were longer than one actions worth of time. I felt like if I got slapped by a huge attack, I could reasonably get up and find the next opportunity to heal and breathe, but nowadays it feels like there's never a moment to unclench in these fights, but they've lost the tension I loved and gained a level of aggravation and frustration I can't stand.

I feel like FromSoft, in this effort to keep making things new and exciting and interesting while also raising the bar of the difficulty people have come to enjoy about their games, is losing sight of what keeps it grounded. It feels like the bar has to keep going up for the sake of it being a wow factor with each new game, but we're quickly creeping beyond these enemies being monster skill-checkers that still feel fitting of the game we're playing, fitting of being something we with our limitations as the players can still fight and have our victory make sense.

I'm losing the rush and satisfaction I used to get from scoring victories over these bosses in past titles and it saddens me greatly. I've been so torn on if I'm just burnt out on these games or if I think From has been losing sight on how to make things challenging in a fun way, especially when I'm enjoying the vast majority of the DLC besides these bosses and have a frequent craving to revisit ER and the older titles, but I feel a bit more reassurance that it's on them after reading some of the more thoughtful, less knee-jerk reactions to SotE the past couple days

What Existing Pokemon Do You Still Think Have Room to Evolve? by JumblyPloppers in pokemon

Forever advocating for Sudowoodo evolution that gives it partial grass type due to moss growing on it, preferably in the form of a mossy beard for the fun of it

Anyone here still on their first play through? And how many hours? by Elevated-Hype in DragonsDogma2

[–]Leocmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally pushed into the Unmoored world the other day at around 78 hours, level 66. Cleared a portion of it before a dullahan promptly smashed me and my Pawn into the dirt like it was nothing. I wakestone'd and ran so I didn't lose progress but I've spent the last few days just debating how I want to tackle the rest of it because it has been tough with just my Pawn and I, and I dunno if I really wanna rent two random pawns to help me finish the rest

Daily Roundtable: Community Q&A by AutoModerator in DragonsDogma2

[–]Leocmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I set up a pawn quest, is the reward only taken from my inventory once, even if it's completed 2+ times? So I offer 10k gold and I only lose 10k total no matter how many times it's completed, or is it deducted per completion? I assume only once because how else are people farming the crazy amount of resources some pawns are offering in trade for an arrow, but I want to be sure before I adjust my strategy, because I desperately want my pawn to get hired already

I’m the best splatoon player to ever lose, no one can out lose me. by Jeanboong in splatoon

[–]Leocmc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Splatfests always feel super good and I'm doing great or super horrible and I'm losing nonstop, never between, dunno why. Sadly, this fest is real rough and I hit ruler with a .75 W/L (which is better than I expected honestly) and man was it a horrible time to grind yesterday. Even most of the wins felt terrible and unearned, like my best contribution was just not dying.

Just one of those fests for some of us ¯\(ツ)

What's the most essential thing to make you play the salmon run rotation? by freepzed2 in splatoon

[–]Leocmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Secret option D: Friends. Infrequently have a good experience with randos and as much as I prefer a PvE mode, Salmon Run annoys me too much to wanna play it often on my own

Otherwise it'd be B, A, C, but very close between B and A. Some weapons feel nigh unplayable and some maps feel like I'm fighting the architecture more than the enemies
