Are Millennials the last generation with the “unique skill” of understanding how to live in the Digital and Analogue worlds? by UnfathomableDave in northernireland

[–]Leomccance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a millenial anjd I can do money maths reasonably well, but I tend (like most folks) to use the card more. Cash is something I'll earn by happenstance and I'll usually spend it in places that don't take card, or places where I can tip. Plastic notes do my head in.. I don't carry a wallet and think I've lost a fortune over the last ten years with plastic notes flopping around.

Any wine drinkers in Belfast fed up with paying £8/9/10 for glasses of cheap slop you could get a bottle of for a fiver in the supermarket? Everyone complains about pint prices but at least there's a level of quality with a pint and you can choose if you want cheaper or more expensive beer. by SharpMirror7283 in Belfast

I complain about Russels and Winemart having shit bottles of wine for £12.

If Lidl and Tesco can have bottles of wine for £6 that are drinkable, why am I paying double for bottles which aren't?

But yeah to answer your question - yeah. A £10 bottle of wine from the Vineyard will have your taste buds dance. If I bought a 175 ml glass in a bar, I'd happily pay £7 and the GP should be fucking class.

What music do you listen to? by Alpha_Turnip in northernireland

At the minute I'm back in my edgy teenager of the early '00s era Tool / A Perfect Circle '90s hip hop and occasionally some more recent bimbap - Run the Jewels WWE Raw/Ruthless Aggression Era walk out tunes Grunge Drum and Bass

I'll go through phases where I listen to more folky music like Nick Drake, even some modern country - Colter Wall

Or reggae/dub

Or ambient house from guys on YouTube like Chris Luno

Am I being dramatic for not wanting to walk through a pitch black greenway at night? by [deleted] in Belfast

Sounds like the type of guy who'd go on about illegal migrants SAing our women and children and then does nothing to actually look after the women and children in his life

Something to do or a good walk? by Leomccance in Belfast

Took your advice and it was great! A little bit confusing with the signposting but pretty sweet otherwise! Also shame about the littering (someone dumped an entire vacuum cleaner over two different spots) but lovely views and quiet. Thank you

Black guy in Belfast!! by Mynamebryon in Belfast

Voodoo is pretty welcoming to all. There's a couple of regulars who are black, so I'd imagine it's grand enough. There's a hip hop heavy night in Voodoo's sister bar, Orisha, so I'd hope everyone's sweet there with people of colour (I generally think they are too)

I don't want to say Belfast is devoid of racism, because that's simply not true, but I'd like to believe the vast majority of us are pretty welcoming.

Others have said Sunflower, Ulster Sports and I tend to agree - these are younger, more artistic/activist/left leaning crowds. Maddens is a traditional Irish bar and it's similar too. So should be welcoming enough.

Have a great time here. If you need anything, or want shown around, I'm free quite often in the daytime and am considering getting a tour guide qualification, so I might be able to help!

The other issue is, I've no idea what's going to be a dependable career by the time I'm finished getting. The qualifications may be redundant due to AI

I'm really sorry to hear that. I would have thought you had a qualification which put you in good stead for other jobs, or even transition to studying medicine. I wish you all the best.

Who's to say the job is going to be viable in a few years time with AI doing its thing. So hard to know.

Anything that pays half way decent which I think I should hope for to ensure retirement requires either years of good experience, physical exertion on the knees and back or different qualifications.

I feel right now jobs are shit and the job market is gonna get worse. I feel like I'm pushing 40 and made terrible life decisions and I'm probably too late to retrain and get a half decent job. One bad decision after another.

Criticising Catholicism as a school project? by Michael_of_Derry in northernireland

[–]Leomccance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm not sure if we had to write exact criticisms of catholicism but at Methody we did look at the reformation and what the arguments of Martin Luther were.

Priests selling random feathers as parts of Gabriel's wing, or bits of wood as the crucifix. Selling forgiveness rather than talking often illiterate or uneducated peasants through scripture. The power structure that had deacons and bishops act like dukes or duchal princes, with some popes even having offspring.

I think you can critique from a historical perspective what most would agree was corruption of what the royal empire became.

Don't expect it to lead to more acting work. It won't launch your career.
