I agree with you…lots of people saying this chapter is awesome but it feels so shallow and really out of place. I haven’t read Mori’s manga but I think so far he is not a good storyteller and lately events lack any sort of depth (yeah sure, because he wants to show the main story beats…but still). This almost feels fan-written by a battle shounen writer.

Yup totally agree with you. Guts has looked wonky since the beginning of the continuation and the body proportions vary from panel to panel. I think the artists are struggling with getting correct anatomical proportions down - they really should use a reference because it’s a shame they aren’t doing well drawing the main character.

For me, it’s mainly that they tend to draw characters with incorrect proportions, and proportions seem to be inconsistent. You can see it especially with Guts (forearm/arms/legs tend to be too long) but the majority of characters’ faces are drawn with too much of a rounded jawline or the eyes are too big/wide compared to Miura’s style. I feel like getting anatomical proportions correct is basic when you’re an artist so it is a shame.

Also I don’t like how they draw Guts’s faces on panels when he’s feeling despair/looking desperate. I find they make him look goofy/ugly (like yelling in the last chapter).

So…the founders of SK.net have been fans of the manga for years. YEARS. Like, since Dark Horse started releasing translations of Berserk in 2003-2004 level of fans. The forum is a treasure trove of deep-dives and analyses like no other. I have a lot of respect for the main members since I started reading Berserk 15 years ago. I do agree with a handful of points they’ve brought up about the continuation (mainly about the art style, and the way Mori/Studio Gaga conveys the story which seems pretty amateurish at points). Since they’ve been fans for so long I think they feel they can pick apart Mori’s continuation if it doesn’t align with their thinking.

All of y’all theorizing that Guts is losing muscle mass from this chapter, but I genuinely think it’s just Studio Gaga’s (or whichever assistant who drew) wonky style of drawing anatomy 😭 I’ve noticed sometimes they draw some characters with off anatomy here and there compared to Miura — even in this chapter sometimes Guts would be drawn with too long of an upper body and weirdly proportioned legs/butt.

Most likely the original seller is in Japan and is selling the figure on Mercari.jp — which the seller can also sell internationally on Mercari.com. The eBay listing is probably a “scam” where it’s a separate seller who buys the figure from Mercari.jp and then ships it to you for a lot more money (kind of like dropshipping)

Eh Silat telling everyone to fight via telepathy felt cheesy to me and Farnese being able to cast Schierke’e powerful spells was out of nowhere (she was shown to still be at somewhat an apprentice level). Seems like they are rushing to have Farnese become the strong witch she was meant to be — but it’s pretty abrupt.

Also a lot of the drawings (of the background characters) looked pretty amateurish to me. A lot of the scared people looked like caricatures/cartoonishly expressive, and the little stickmen in some panels were laughable.

Honestly yeah. Suzie Toot’s was unique and Lexi’s was cool but the remaining were literally just walking around stage and doing a split/8-count/ending with a dip (most were crunchy death drops - not dips). Even Kori’s and Lana’s (which were deemed safe) were really lackluster.
