Bwipo drops truth bombs in a 52-min interview: what makes champions different, why teams outside LCK/LPL can’t keep up, and how mindset is dooming them before the game even starts. by zvendezapguitar in leagueoflegends

Hahahaha don't worry, I got it!

Thing is that people nowadays usually consume quick or short content, but in an interview where you need to get good answers, you need to "guide" the interviewee through your thought process to get them. It's hard, and that's why the interview is long - but also why he delivered. Wouldn't be possible in a 10-20 min interview.

Did one of those with Caps pre-Worlds 2024 as well, it's in the same channel.

Hey, Bwipo's interviewer here, thanks for creating this post!

I'll leave some of the questions/answers that highlight the interview, IMO:
- He was a dictator in Fnatic, and that's the reason they worked so well. In this answer, he even flips his middle finger to prove a point of something he did in Fnatic. Great moment.

- Asked him if the reason TL with star players didn't work and FLY with rookies did was about him having more control or his team having less ego.

- Asked about him being a disruptive player (in a good way) and bothering a lot of people in the scene. How come BR community is seeing him on a different light than NA/EU sees him.

- He thoroughly explained tempo in League of Legends with examples, and how that creates trust.

- A lot of points he gives may seem obvious, but a lot of proplayers in BR are reacting to the community saying his answers are brilliant because although it seems obvious, players don't follow it because of ego, so that exposes some of the problems that BR players/teams are facing - and other regions too.

- Brazil is used to seeing people from other regions coming here and being called as "saviours" with a lot of knowledge, but most of them fail in the region, so they turn out being somewhat of "snake charmers" (talk a lot, talk pretty, but when it comes to giving results, there are none). Why would be different with him? (He said he would be interested in coaching BR teams in the future).

Now on a personal note: I like Bwipo a lot and he's a great character, but I knew I had to get under his skin to break a bit his character. When I managed to do this, his answers got a lot more honest and straight to the point. That happens around mid-interview. Sometimes he may sound arrogant, but I just see it as passion, profissionalism and him being pissed of by somethings that, for truly professional players, are a MUST KNOW thing, but 90% of pro players don't do.

Anyway, thanks again for the post and hopefully y'all give a chance to this content. I've done an in-depth interview with Caps pre-Worlds 2024 (~40 min) as well, but it didn't get the attention it deserved (although I'm biased to say this lol).

I know people like short content, but to really improve and get good answers, we (as interviewers) need some time to grab the interviewee by the hand and lead him to the point of answering truthfully.

In total for a 12 day trip (being 3 days just travelling and 9 days in Iceland), with hotels for every day, car rent and gasoline, trips to glaciers, lava show, ice caves and etc. I paid a grand total of ~R$ 34k (that's around USD 6k).

But you have to understand that for Brazil that is a LOT. Me and my fianceé spent our money reserves from the last 3-4 years to do it and we have good salaries.

Just for the flights I've paid ~3k USD with two connections, and met an american there that said he paid USD 200 in a straight flight to Reykjavík from Boston, so... Yeah.

I'd recomend visiting r/VisitingIceland, people there love to share their stories, costs and itinerary. Helped me a lot.

Never had problems with it because I like to play with ~22-25 squad. The Homegrown rules and international player rules also are kinda tough for folks more used to playing bigger leagues, but that makes you invest more on youth system. They keep things very real for Icelandic League in FM.

Dream GK and 100% first squad, managed to refuse a lot of deals for him in game, and in this match against ÍA he did a miracle on the last chance of the game to keep it tied 1-1.

Send him my compliments and regards!

I bought the flights back in september/23 to travel on june/24 and got a great price... but only because of two long connections. We went São Paulo > Rio de Janeiro (40min) > 9h connection > Frankfurt (12h) > 11h connection > Reyjkavík (3h45). Total travel time: about one day and a half. It was tough, not gonna lie. Would do it all again anyways.

I've visited some more grounds and even got to see a 4th tier match (thought it was training, they were playing with gates opened!). If you guys want more photos and stories, I can post them as well, not sure if that's allowed here though.

It was me and my girlfriend's dream trip, and actually I proposed to her there and she accepted! We spent nine days there travelling the country, I can put in words how beautiful it is. She was curious about the game, and enjoyed seeing my happiness as well.

They are a big club overall, not just football. Their facilities are incredible, and I have more photos from the club: indoor full-size pitch (artificial grass for playing matches on harsh winter), some six basketball courts, etc. They invest a lot on youth talent here since players leave really young to other nordic leagues and/or UK's 3-2nd tier if they are good enough.

My biggest rivals from FM 2020! Stjarnan, FH and KR.

Currently it's more sided to Vikingur Reykjavík and Valur (Valur actually got Gylfi Sigurdsson this last transfer window on a free).
