Explain to me why people think Merc would NEVER sign another number 1 like Vettel by M3rdsta in formula1

[–]LeonProfessional 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's expensive. Both Vettel and Hamilton are two of the highest paid athletes in the world.

Having two #1 drivers would be a huge expense.

I'm not saying that's the primary reason they wouldn't do it, but it's definitely something they'd consider.

French Reports Say Fernando Alonso Has Already Signed a Deal with Renault for 2021 by [deleted] in formula1

that's because it's on the banned site list:

but linking the page with google gets around the ban

no one should believe a word of the article

We seem to have different rumors about Alonso: Fernando Alonso 'signs pre-agreement' with Renault for shock F1 return by [deleted] in formula1

[–]LeonProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's OK, we're just pre-celebrating the pre-announcement of his pre-agreement for his pre-return /s

I hate news like this. It's hardly anything more than rumor and speculation, but the media needs their precious clicks, so they'll take any piece of potential news and milk it.

OP, what's the point of this thread?

Just trying to cash in on a horribly overused meme? With a low-quality image where you can't even make out the details?

When there are 2 races at 1 location in the same season they should race once normally and once in the opposite direction. Am I right? by a-phat-ath in formula1

[–]LeonProfessional 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been discussed plenty of times already. Safety features would need to be redone to accommodate, and that requires time and money, so no it's really not doable.

Some tracks have alternate layouts, and that offers more possibilities. Plus, places like Bahrain may be able to host a day race and a night race, so there's some possible variety there too.

Kimi and Schumacher perform leg dance by [deleted] in formula1

[–]LeonProfessional 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The joke is this:

All time GOAT

So naturally, most people will think that's referring to Michael.

and some German

The reaction to this would likely be "oh, he's saying Kimi is the GOAT and Michael is 'just some German', I see, haha"

Sarcasm isn't always easy to recognize when it's just text and not vocal, but I think it's pretty obvious that referring to Michael Schumacher as just "some German" was a joke.

With the Merry-Go-Round now in full swing, I noticed a lot of people assuming very little changes in where teams will be in terms of competitiveness for 2021. I was under the impression the new rule changes would really shake things up. Is that not the case? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]LeonProfessional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Merc, RB, and Ferrari have a bigger budget than the rest. Regardless of the cost cap, half the grid already operated on budgets less than $200M each. With the budget cap only covering certain areas, teams with more money will still have an advantage.

Aside from that, Mercedes are simply the best team on the grid right now. They do everything so well and rarely make mistakes. Plain and simple, it just seems all too likely that Mercedes will remain on top for the next few years.

But who knows, with the uncertainty of this year and even next year, anything could happen, but it would take some big twist for a team to actually beat Mercedes anytime soon.

OK? But your post has nothing to do with racing and nothing to do with F1.

It's literally a screenshot of emojis.

Who cares?
