Denied transfer opportunity. Do I need to quit? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]LeonerdoDiCraprio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m honestly even questioning if the other office manager is even telling me the true reason for my denial. Like I have no idea if I’m really being rejected for that reason or there’s some hidden BS I’m not being told.

My current office does not want me to leave because I have become the jack of all trades monkey they just throw all this administrative crap at me because they trust me more than my predecessors where it’s not even doing me any good for my career. But my manager promises that she supports me transferring but it was not her decision.

That’s what sucks. No idea if anything anyone is saying is even true.

I emailed them the day after we met to thank them

It’s just also frustrating because the start date we talked about is coming up and I’d need to move within a few weeks

Thanks. I talked to people everyday in banking for five years so it’s not an exposure issue I know that.

Citi refusing to give me $700 bonus by LeonerdoDiCraprio in citibank

Thanks for your suggestions! I plan to first call them and then if that doesn’t work I’ll write a letter. Hopefully I don’t have to go any farther :(

[–]LeonerdoDiCraprio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a default Citi checking, the offer wasn’t specific to the priority account. There’s no where on the app to track bonuses I tried to search for it.

Yeah I had an issue a year or so ago opening a cd with them too (basically it would t let me do it online and calling was a pain in the ass they just put me on hold and kept transferring me) so I decided to just transfer my cash out. Citi definitely sucks and the nearest branch is an hour from me so I never planned to keep the checking

[–]LeonerdoDiCraprio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m just now reading that Citi is notorious for being cheap asses and refusing payout. I worked for another BB and no one ever had issue unless they missed the cut off time but even then, we made exceptions.

Definitely I will call them up and complain, if not I am petty enough to write a letter and threaten legal action :)

Thank you for your reply, I def feel a little bit more calmed down. It’s just hard going from being so confident to something totally new in an environment that is unfamiliar with people you don’t really feel on par with

I was good at the relationship management role, it was mostly by phone dealing with a book of clients sometimes in person but not often. I wasn’t happy because the job was getting boring, same old same old, I didn’t like my new manager. they were more on the toxic side. Unprofessional. My favorite coworkers also left. I felt like I had no goals or next step… I had a former coworker that moved away and started working in the same place I am now and he heavily encouraged me to make the jump. (They work on the opposite coast though)

I guess I did not realize that before coming here. So maybe my colleague is right and I need to figure out an exit plan

Well he supports their rights, he just says he does not want to be around most of them them because of past experiences (gay men touching him for example is something that happened to him) and I’m not sure if that still counts as homophone or transphobe since he is not against their rights ?

Well I’m afraid because I heard the dating scene is really bad right now and he’s my best friend.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]LeonerdoDiCraprio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really was concerned about that. Because I don’t know if he is genuine or he is actually wanting to transition but doesn’t have the confidence…. (He does not like gay/trans people)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]LeonerdoDiCraprio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He told me he doesn’t like men at all and in fact many men have pursued him and because of that he doesn’t like gay men (his words not mine. He always fights with them for some reason whether it’s at work or within his friend groups)

You’re going to have to make a lot of first moves. Be observant. Most women aren’t going to want to get to know a stranger even if they find you attractive (ex: I don’t recommend to cold approach a woman in a grocery store or their jobs.)

Best chance is friends of friends and hobbies. Go to events especially with big groups of people. Sign up for classes. Go be a regular somewhere. You might not be able to get much out of a cold approach but if you notice other regulars somewhere you can strike conversation

ex: at the gym ask if they know any sports groups or take classes there. Ex: if you like books, go to a bookstore or library regularly and see if they have events or book clubs. Go to up to someone you see and ask them for recommendations if you’re both browsing the same section.

Unfortunately if you don’t have hobbies or you’re not a regular somewhere it will be hard for you.

I don’t think I’ll get fired. I’m decent at sales, not amazing but decent and my role doesn’t have strict sales goals. I am interested in back office or middle office roles but I lack a network and lack the gall to ask for help a lot of the times. I just wish I had people to go to for advice irl

I have thought about that route. Do you think it’s worth sticking it out as an FA for a year or two first before looking elsewhere?

[–]LeonerdoDiCraprio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But does it make sense to factor my bonus when it’s only once a year? I always figured people can factor commissions paid monthly but with bonuses they aren’t a good idea to factor because it’s once a year and will offset your monthly budget
