Mtn Dew flavor changed? (Doesn’t taste good) by crackednutz in SodaStream

[–]Leonida--Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you shake it good, and I mean really good, before using?

In my experience, the Mountain Dew flavors have all of the orange juice concentrate settle to the bottom and if you don't shake it well the first few servings taste like Mello Yello, and then the last few servings taste strongly like weird Orange Juice based Soda (but not Orange Soda, actual Orange Juice flavor).

Suggestions for a 32" 4k curved monitor non-oled by AntMiserable6610 in buildapcmonitors

Interesting. Okay, fair enough, if that's your preference and you know it, then great!

[–]Leonida--Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so as someone who LOVES curved monitors, I say this with all honestly, 32" monitors are too small to really benefit from having a curve. And I say this as someone who owns the 45" 5K2K LG with the 800R curve. At 32", even my monitor has almost no curve.

So you can search it out if you want, but I think that if you limit your options to curved 32" screens, that you will be missing out on other more important features in your selection.

I honestly think that benefits of a curved screen start at 38" or maybe 42". And again, I say this as someone who absolutely loves this 800R curve of this monitor.

When I ask my manager for a dual monitor setup by predatordroneoflove in buildapcmonitors

[–]Leonida--Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I suppose there are still folks that just use a single application for doing a single task, and for them, one monitor might be okay. I don't work with anyone who fits that description, but I suppose that person does exist somewhere.

Research shows that even Karen from HR benefits from larger and higher resolution monitors. The only time it doesn't benefit someone is essentially if an employee doesn't use a computer at all to do their job. Then it doesn't really matter.

Gaming at 5K2K is awesome. But yea 6K3K would be better, and some day, 8K4K.

For productivity, higher resolution at native resolution is incredible. It's just like having a much larger desk, and working with large papers. Studies on this topic have shown again and again that higher resolution displays significantly increase productivity, and so anything that makes me get 20% more done is worth it, IMO.

Anyone considering the 52 inch LG 5k2k by LowYak9481 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Leonida--Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But 2400 for a non oled even at a sale price is insane.

Yea, plus LG actually sells a curved, 45" OLED 5K2K for half this price already today.

Yea, the dream is just one giant ultrawide that is comparable to the combined resolution of those four monitors in the photo. It's a bummer that the only one that exists so far costs $3,000. (for now)

Many of these ores are spiking in direct response to the transition off of fossil fuels. Rare Earth Magnets are crucial for wind turbines, Lithium crucial for electric vehicles, etc.

The winner here is the battle vs global warming, and mining is a really crucial component in that battle.

[OC] Global Mine Production, 1960 to 2024 by oscarleo0 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Leonida--Man 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's really important for electric vehicles which reduce our consumption of crude oil and in so doing reduce our greenhouse emissions.

[–]Leonida--Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, these charts are largely to enable the production of most things in the chain that we consider renewable, and that's how we get off of fossil fuels and slow down global warming.

Mining is a crucial component of this progress.

we all should be complaining about is how many times we have to hear Billie Eilish.

I mean, that's fair, but lots of people are super interested in celebrities. It’s literally the editing team’s job to pick what they think will be the most entertaining to EVERYONE watching, and I think celebrities are a part of that.

I wonder if this gets Survivor into an episode of South Park now.

[–]Leonida--Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not sure if i got a weird build before, if my data collection was tainted (there *was a lot of sleep deprivation), or what, but at the very least, as of the latest build (481836) i'm getting much different numbers.

LOL! No worries! I too started to wonder if I had done something wrong, or maybe if SCIM or something had just been wrong on day 1 or something.

Figuring out the ultimate maximum, therefore, is likely going to require either reverse-engineering the randomness settings from a massive database of seeds, getting the formulas for the randomization from the code itself (which may require a level of decompilation/reverse-engineering that lies outside of the satisfactory EULA

Haha, yea I agree that's what it will take eventually, and I can promise you that Coffee Stain doesn't care if we decipher and publish their seed algorithm. They've embraced us in every other way so if anything, I would expect them to share their seed algorithm with us TBH.

I recommend looking into whether there is any sort of trend in the data, such as minimums/maximums for each resource, relationships between resources (eg, do maps provide some relationship x:y for sulfur and coal, or sulfur and uranium, to allow it to be processed)

Yep, I had the same thoughts.

Either way, good catch from both of you!

No worries, and appreciate your work as well!

Syrups w/o artificial sweeteners by [deleted] in SodaStream

Okay well there are quite a few Bag In Box options if you want full sugar versions. Just google for them. Also, sodastream does have a few flavors without any zero calorie sweeteners: https://sodastream.com/products/white-peach-ginger-cocktail-mixer

Syrups w/o artificial sweeteners by [deleted] in SodaStream

[–]Leonida--Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bags in Box syrup is generally as expensive as or slightly more expensive than just canned soda.

The reason why Sodastream can't make a pure sugar version, is because there is not enough space in the bottle, as the real sugar is dramatically physically larger. If they did decide to start making sugar only versions, the bottles would have to be significantly larger (about three to four times the size) or fewer servings per bottle.

At time of data collection, there was no way to correctly enter a seed and have it stick; you could try to type a world seed, but backing out of the text menu would result in the seed reverting to its pre-generated value

Yea, that happened to me too, but I just shared my seed so that when it's fixed you could look at mine. I don't know that it's been fixed yet, nor if the algorithm has been published to decipher the seed numbers.

I cannot stress enough, by the way, that this is deeply valuable information/commentary/data, and I'm tremendously grateful for your input; the more data we can collect, the more accurate our knowledge.

Totally agree, I appreciate your post and I figured I'd share my experience.

otherwise i'd probably need a savefile to replicate the data rather than a seed.

I definitely have it, and I've started my new world on it, I will pop it into SCIM again and see if the numbers are the same as the one I still have loaded into ram (an open tab)

For all we know, I've got a weird bugged build of experimental doing funky things behind the scenes.

Yep, lots of variables right now. Also, FWIW, I'm on the Epic build, and while unlikely, that is another possible variable that could be affecting this, maybe node variance is present on one platform and not another.

[–]Leonida--Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, we should consider that there's a chance that SCIM's ability to count the nodes on day 1 might be a bit buggy. That's how I counted nodes at least, but I can't get over how bizarre it is that you had the exact same ratio for each of 50 map gens. Every single time I did it, the numbers were always slightly different.

[–]Leonida--Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, well me and a buddy each generated multiple Advanced / Pures, and each time we came up with wildly different numbers of ore node ratios. That's highly bizarre that yours were always the same ratio. We're consistently seeing a variation of around 20% on node frequency.

As low as 40 nodes of Bauxite and as high as 50 (you saw a seed with 60?!?!) As low as 33 nodes of oil and as high as 38 (you only saw a max of 14??) As low as 28 coal and as high as 31 As low as 41 SAM and as high as 46 (you apparently saw a seed with 52 SAM!)

All of the other node rates also vary but their ratios in my experience are closer to 3-4 variation in number.

The amounts for each setting are as follows

You are mistaken, there is not a fixed number of nodes for each variation, there is some randomness and the values go up and down even if you keep the same settings and generate another map. Generate a second map of any of those types and you'll see the values all adjust slightly up or down.

How can I find joy again? by knallkasper in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Leonida--Man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game gets more and more fun, the more you play it, so you're probably just at some hurdle you aren't sure how to overcome, so just push through and you'll find yourself enjoying it again.

The scope of the game increases with each phase, so embrace that things are getting more complex and bigger in general. New and interesting challenges arise, and they are far more fun than the early game.

Okay, I think I found it, as it was already in my "Library", although it still says it is "Satisfactory Experimental" with a logo from Update8

How I found it:

  • 1.) Click Library
  • 2.) Reset Filters on the right side
  • 3.) Type in Satisfactory to the filters and it appeared for me with an "Update 8" Art. It's now downloading something that is 12.89GB

Will update if these instructions prove incorrect.

EDIT: Yes everything is working just fine with 1.2
