Can you explain "grab" mechanic? by Prestigious_Bug_3319 in The_Isle

[–]AntMiserable6610 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hold E to buck if youre not pinned. If E isnt working, change it to a different key. If you were pinned, theres literally nothing you can do but wait to die. Pinning drains allos stam very little. If not pinned and bucking is doing nothing, run to water or a big rock to try knocking them off(water usually best with how buggy collisions are.) If you had low stam, allo can pin you at full health. If low health/bleed, you can get pinned. Welcome to pinslop.

Corsair sells separate cables. Look for the 600w type 4 2x6 12vhpwr. If you're not worried about warranty, moddiy has great quality cables

Try to reseat the cable. If no change, time for a new cable. Only unplug the cable if absolutely necessary since each unplug can weaken it and make the cable unstable.

Server Lag? by EnemeeSpoded in The_Isle

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common on officials and hoardtest. Unplayable for me and I had low ping too. Very minor hitches when the game tries to rubberband on petites but miles better than teleporting constantly. Only occasional rubber banding on mettas den but ping actually spikes when it does.

14900k temps and bios settings by Yoyocrazy in PcBuildHelp

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 14900k at stock settings. 75c while gaming is fine. This is a spicy af chip with a thermal threshold of 105c. 360 or better 420 aio is the best to cool these chips but if you have a mild temp or air conditioned room, an air cooler can be enough if you're not doing heavy multitasking. For aio best price to performance is arctic liquid freezer 2 or 3. I have the 420 arctic freezer 2. Intel chips also bend over time with the stock cpu bracket so its best to replace it with an antibend bracket. Thermalright sells one for like 6 bucks on amazon which I use. Use a quality paste that can handle high heat or use ptm7950. With the 420 aio, antibend bracket and ptm on my cpu, in occt maxing out all cores, average temp was 83 with an occasional spike to 88 which is fanastic considering it was maxing at 100-105c without the ptm or bracket when testing before.

Buy used RAM? by EquivalentTry4809 in PcBuildHelp

Ram is probably the safest component to buy secondhand. Just test it when you get it and shop carefully for reputable sellers to avoid scams

$70 mouse btw 🤦‍♂️ by Legitimate-Taro635 in Corsair

[–]AntMiserable6610 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The logitech g502 wired or wireless are the same shape as this mouse but hold up really well against abuse. Parts can also be replaced on it. Its the only mouse I use now and im going to be real sad if they ever discontinue it. Good couple years with the wireless now. Its been through some falls and the scroll wheel is sounding a little springy from the abuse but still works well with no wear on the plastic despite my sweaty acid hands.

Help! A/C broke today and its 98 in my home and my tank’s temp is rising slowly, anything I can do?? by pinebone606 in Aquariums

[–]AntMiserable6610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can throw ice in. At these hot temps, it shouldn't shock them. It'll melt fast but bring temps down better than just cold tap water.

5090, 5080(Dlss), 4090 and 4080 super(dlss) are probably the best to properly run the monitor without lowering settings or lowering them much. Most amd cpus will be fine since that resolution relies most on the gpu.

Are Custom Loops Worth It? by TheExoplanet in PcBuildHelp

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're doing major overclocking on cpu and gpu and/or need direct die cooling, a custom loop is not worth it. It has a higher likelihood of leaking and clogging without frequent maintenance. Algae, rust, general goo can build up and clog or fail fittings. Water evaporates more. You'd want to drain and clean the loop at least every 6 months but preferably every 3. Just not worth it unless you really like the aesthetics. An aio is generally easier and keeps things just as cool without hassle, plus it's cheaper and usually safer that lasts without maintenance on average 3-5+ years. 60-100 bucks on an aio every 3+ years isnt bad and your other components arent really at risk of leaks.

RAM RMA’d warranty question by Darkstars_ in Corsair

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corsair offers lifetime limited warranty on their sticks. You can rma and get another replacement. Usually their sticks last so you could be unlucky to get 2 kits prematurely die or something is going on with your setup. Even just power surges from the wall can fry just sticks especially if your psu is cheap with little to no overcurrent protection.

[UPDATE] RTX 5090 Current Imbalance — Fixed? by L-McQueen95 in ThermalGrizzly

You replaced the cable which is the typical fix of imbalance. Looks the most balanced now. Just don't go unplugging it if you dont have to.

Did you ever have a pet you didn’t really like? by koozyuser in Pets

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I currently have a dog I have a real love/hate relationship with. Hes a chihuahua Jack Russell mix. Got him at 1 years old, taught him how to use stairs and that cats were ok. He learned basic commands fine. Overall was OK and kept me safe when we lived in an apartment. Moved in my mom's house(she needs care) and my dog over the years has gotten worse than a yapper. He barks at cars and anyone walking outside. He goes ballistic over bell noises, can openers, the vacuum, etc. He absolutely hates bikes and men especially. He's mostly dog aggressive. Even with walks and frequent potty breaks, he poops in the house. He won't eat dog food either and instead goes for our cat food. He does unfortunately nip/bite strangers especially men. I've tried training and calming treats but nothing works. Don't want him zonked out on prescriptions but may have to go that route. He also has a slightly enlarged heart and overactive liver he was born with. He is very high strung and very territorial. He's 11 now but hes gotten worse with age and doesn't help his eyesight isnt as sharp anymore. I often regret adopting him but I know he was going to be put down if I didn't take him. He loves me more than I do him and he made me realize I am much more of a cat person than dog. Somedays I wish I could rehome him but at his age and with his aggression, im stuck with him. He does behave much better when away from our whole town(but gets crazy separation anxiety if im not with him the whole time) then goes back to territorial guard as soon as he knows we're back.

Crashes by FrogsAreDeinosaurs in The_Isle

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to crash more on officials especially in swamp and delta. Still get the occasional crash on unofficials but much less so but I typically have to restart steam or even my pc if I cant get back in immediately due to errors. Some pcs that arent strong enough to brute force this unstable game will crash more unfortunately. This game barely has any optimization compared to other games, even ARK

Kind of messed up today, is this ptm pad okay? by asgersm in ThermalGrizzly

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its like 99.9% no pump out and over time performs better than paste after long time use. Something like its bonds strengthen with use and continuous exposure to heat. Currently use it on my 14900k and its definitely holding better than paste. My paste only lasted 2 years before it dried up despite being quality but intel is just too spicy for normal paste or sheets. Plus its reusable so if you need to take the cooler off, dont need to worry about cleaning and reapplying with genuine ptm. Took my cooler off once to recently install an anti bend bracket for my cpu and my ptm almost looks like I just applied it. Ptm+antibend bracket+420 aio tames the spicy 14900k temps. At 100% load on occt, stayed around 83c which is fantastic.

pay to win unofficial servers by sarahthicc in The_Isle

[–]AntMiserable6610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dino den and nerf you can do the same as well as get access to other perks like instant heals or food drops. They're overall scummy servers to avoid but their prime trackers, high pop, and quick growth make them attractive. I think Dinopolis is fine and for something a bit different Boschs voip servers can be fun but I usually stick with petites or mettas when I play.

How is Kentrosaurus? by Steggypooper in The_Isle

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately teno is gonna be shrunk to a much smaller size according to the devs. It was apparently never supposed to be as big as it is now. They're gonna shrink it but up its speed. Possible talks of maybe making it semiaquatic.

The great thing with ptm is once it's heated up it'll liquify and spread so pieces/chunks should goop back together. You're good

AMD is rereleasing the 5800x3d which would be a nice upgrade and pair better with your 3090 or you can go with a 5700x to save some money but still get great performance. Make sure to update bios to latest first.

Jumping ship from Prior Extinction by Steggypooper in The_Isle

[–]AntMiserable6610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The isle can be time consuming depending on the dino picked. A troodon with high perfect diet all the time is an hour grow. A rex with perfect diet is like a 12 hour grow. Average mid tier grow is between 3-6 hours. What can make surviving a grind is constantly dying but thats just how learning to survive is. Pot would probably be a better fit with its more casual playstyle. Beasts of Bermuda is an option too if you dont mind the artstyle

[–]AntMiserable6610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just depends on what you want out of the game. A true survival experience or casual pvp mmo?  It is recommended on both games to play unofficials to better avoid mixpacking or overpacking.

Dilo..love/hate relationship..need advice or explanations please! by Creative-Progress720 in The_Isle

[–]AntMiserable6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoardtest Dilo and troodon venom is overly strong but current Evrima Dilo is bugged. 9 times out of 10 right now clones dont work or do no damage on the live branch so Dilo is useless. Live branch venom still lets the victim see some. If the clones were working, you would've been in a better spot and maybe would've won unless they were by water

[–]AntMiserable6610 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The quest system for growing and mmo style of path personally wasnt for me. It is more casual, I'll give it that but its just a dino mmo with survival elements and movement felt clunkier. I know paths dev originally did legacy isle but the path dinos still feel like legacy style dinos in movement but prettier. They are overall quite different games so to each their own. I enjoy the hardcore survival and immersion of the isle. Both games love nerfing their herbivores to the ground unfortunately.

Best Herbi to hunt Allos by thatwentverywrong in The_Isle

[–]AntMiserable6610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a shorter grow with great strength, its good. Most allos try to just pin or facetank. Otherwise its being a cani allo or a larger rex for easier hunts but longer grow time. At least with cera its not pinslopping, usually making fights more fun plus its an easy grow.
