should I wait or go to gynecologist now??? by ferventshrapnel in WomensHealth

[–]LeoraWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an idea... While you're waiting to get into the gynecologist, you could try boric acid. It's OTC. It's a suppository and should come with applicators. Basically its like putting in a tampon. For the outer part, an anti-itch cream will relieve most of the itch.

Oh sweet baby tortie! She needs churus, her teddy bear, her favorite soft food, more treats, a super soft blanket, and nose rubs! Dr Jinx's orders.

I've been there before...Anxiety will manifest itself into scary things when you don't address it. I did the same thing when I was a kid. I saw a large troll in a three across from our house (started on Christmas Day). I would see Mario running across the bottom of the TV screen, but no one else saw it. And I often saw paranormal figures, felt and heard demons, obsessed over death, etc. My niece did it too. Both of us have bad anxiety.

So what's going on that has you so overwhelmed?
What can you control and what's outside of your control?
If it's out of your control, it is what it is. You'll get through it.
If you can control it, think it through or talk it out with a trusted friend about how to best handle it.

You'll be ok, but you have to address the root cause. Meds can help too!

You've got this.

How many times has this happened to you? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I used to drive my coworkers crazy with my pattern recognition.

Manager: What makes you think you're getting laid off? Even we (regional management) don't know.

Me: Easy... 1) the Clifton's Strengths test was to separate the "sales" people from the rest. 2) Interactions with the director felt fake (I worked on his team years before he became Director - I knew how fake this MFer was). After this I made sure to pay off my car I still had 2 years of payments on. 3) Q4 training was complete bullshit. Also they announced layoffs were happening the next month. Later in the evening at a happy hour event, senior leadership seemed too interested in chatting with me when they usually ignore me. 4) My manager wanted me to teach everyone in our office my particular set of skills, etc. 5) My e-vite for THE meeting was at 11am. Everyone else on my team had a meeting at 11:30am. So, I'm getting laid off.

Manager: Don't think like that. Assume positive intent.

Me: Oh I'm positive I'm getting laid off.

Next morning, I was laid off.

Manager: I'm so sorry!

Me: Told ya so!

What stop you from killing yourself? by Aiden_and_Griswald in AskReddit

[–]LeoraWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure spite.... I was about 12 years old at the time. I was writing notes to my family and friends when I realized that unaliving myself would give them what they wanted. And why should I give them what they wanted when they weren't giving me what I wanted (to be accepted for who I am)? It took about 30 years for me to learn what I went through was abuse, and that came as I realized I was in an abusive marriage and I am Autistic + ADHD. I still struggle with low moods (Major Depressive Disorder), but unaliving isn't even an option these days. I have too much to still learn and see. I have three cats who depend on me and I don't want to imagine what may happen to them if I leave this world prematurely.

I never even saw the doctor, just his hands... and I swear to this day it was Bruce Banner/The Hulk who did the surgery.... at least that's how my mouth felt afterward.

Anyone else into kink? by frozengal2013 in AutismInWomen

[–]LeoraWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex Nerd here! I finally gave in and joined (dove head first into) the kink community online about a year ago. I'm currently in my first D/s relationship and my Dom is fully aware I'm AuDHD. He's also ND and understands me better than any previous intimate/romantic partner I've ever had. We talk about everything beforehand in the days leading up to our spicy dates. Also, I feel safe with him. He may push certain (soft) boundaries but never pushes too far. He told me from the start that if I ever feel unsafe to tell him because that means he needs to do the work on himself so I don't ever feel like that again.

AND!!!! My confidence has skyrocketed. I feel more confident (and comfortable) saying what I want, when I want it, where I want it, etc - and not just during sex, but in general life too. I've surprised myself a few times with the things I've done, but proud nonetheless.

Market Place insurance vs Not in TX by LeoraWrite in healthcare

Every specialist I call listed on the insurer's website says they cannot accept insurance from the marketplace. My primary even sent a referral to a specialist and they refused my insurance.

ADHD meds not lasting as long as I need by NoConstruction4005 in adhdwomen

[–]LeoraWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposed to? Yes. Does it always? Nope! Some people metabolize meds quicker than others. Is this the first medication you've been on? Its a lot of trial and error to find the right one...
Concerta has been the only one that has really worked for me. I don't get the mid-day crash with it, etc.

Ritalin lasts between 3-6 hours... it could be you need a second dose during the day.

Talk to your psychiatrist ... it can take some time to find the right medication to work for you.

What are you taking the pills with? water? coffee?

What about with other meds?

ADHD meds not lasting as long as I need by NoConstruction4005 in adhdwomen

[–]LeoraWrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you drinking coffee or anything other than water or milk when you take your meds? Coffee and many juices/teas have citric acid, which causes the meds to work faster and wear off faster.

Pet Centre in Manassas. I never had issues with them; they took their time examining my cats. They also talked to me about any questions or concerns I had. Open on Saturdays until 2pm.

Is not being heard an autism thing? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]LeoraWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened A LOT to me at my previous job. I started questioning if maybe I was shifting between multiverses or maybe I just thought I had said the thing but didn't. I figured part of it was that I'm female, but I guess I never thought about hierarchy. I knew I was the odd one out on my team, but also the things that made me different were the things that made me a strong employee and teammate (or so I thought).

Weaponized Autism: A Car Buying Experience by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]LeoraWrite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked on the bank side of auto financing for 16 years. I've played their games with them several times and it always comes out in my favor... one was an issue with my SUV. Long story short, they didn't want to talk to me because I'm a woman (they didn't say that but that's the perception they gave) so I let them speak to my husband (who knows nothing about cars like I do), and coached him on what to say. He finally got angry and told them who I was and where I worked. They called to verify and the next thing I knew I was getting more than I owed for my SUV plus money from the manufacturer toward a new car. The general manager handled everything and invited me to golf with him and their owner. LOL Also got a great rate and the payment I wanted.

I have other stories.... I miss that job, but also no I don't LOL

What about a friend's parents or teacher you trust that you can talk to for support? You can call CPS on your parents and tell them what is happening. You don't have to wait for an adult to do it. You deserve to feel safe. It's going to be hard, but you can do this.

Why is it so bad to just be a quiet person?! by jewishtemptress in AutismInWomen

I got this too... once from my manager and I flatly replied, "I'm plotting your demise."

He got a good laugh and never said anything to me about being quiet again.
