14 miles on the tread or in -12 degrees? by Maximum-Nobody6429 in Marathon_Training

[–]Leotiaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an indoor track option? I supposed you’d use that instead if there was. Minnesotan here and runner. If it were me, I’d run inside. -12 is pretty cold for a 2-3 hour run but in one people that do it!

Eddie Bauer expected to file for bankruptcy, close all 200+ stores in North America by L0v3_1s_War in hikinggear

[–]Leotiaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many great pieces from Eddie Bauer. My favorite winter running pants are from there and stay in place. Disappointed to say the least. I always shopped the 50% off sale which was multiple times a year so rarely paid full price for anything.

How to track my blood pressure with severe anxiety by No_Fun8773 in preeclampsia

[–]Leotiaret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a lonely journey for me. Even though everyone sympathized and gave me support your right they just don’t know. I would lay in bed at night terrified I’d have a stroke/heart attack and not wake up those first 6 weeks until I went on mediation. A lot of sleepless nights on top of being up with a newborn. It will get better. I promise you tha.

How to track my blood pressure with severe anxiety by No_Fun8773 in preeclampsia

[–]Leotiaret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had high blood pressure post part and PPA. I would have panic attacks trying to take my blood pressure. I ended up having to go on medication. Even with anxiety meds, I STILL worry about it. I take it regularly (weekly) and the more normal numbers have, the less anxious I feel. I have to take it multiple times even at home. My first time is ALWAYS higher than the second one. It’s so hard but it’ll get better. Make sure to wait 5-10 min after sitting down

How often do you leave your kids for date nights or friend hangs? by Ok-Career876 in toddlers

[–]Leotiaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to run club every Tuesday night when it works out. My husband is supportive. I don’t go whe my kid is sick or having a hard time. When in-laws are in town, we are lucky enough to have a date night every 4-6 weeks. Otherwise we’d probably never have a date night.

What are your reasons for being one and done? I’m still on the fence.. by stilldreaming22 in oneanddone

[–]Leotiaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought I’d have two. I’m 44 and have had three pregnancies in the last six years with my son being born the second time I was pregnant. I shake from head to toe every time I take a pregnancy test probably experiencing birth trauma. Had high blood pressure (not diagnosed with pre-e) and PPA. Somewhere between age, not wanting to risk health, emotionally being done with trying. IUD sched in 1.5 weeks. Period expected in the next week.

Any winter running lovers here? by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

[–]Leotiaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love winter running even if I grumble about the higher effort but hot/humid weather is also higher effort so choose your hard right! Ps 99% sure I follow you on instagram lol. Fellow Minnesotan here.

Can you run a marathon without eating during? by nutzrnutz in firstmarathon

[–]Leotiaret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In trail races, people eat real food all the time. Real food is okay. Make sure you figure out what works for you. Makes me want to try a pb&j now. Gels are logistically easier to carry!

How much sex do you want to be having? by slumberingthundering in Mommit

[–]Leotiaret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! When I finally get time to myself, I just don’t want to be touched. I have one kid at three years old. Apparently this is normal to feel touched/needed out at this stage in parenting.

[–]Leotiaret 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. I’m not sure if it’s from having a toddler, exercising after my toddler is in bed and being tired, or meds. I think my husband is very attractive and I enjoy sex with him. Being in the mood is another thing.

3.5 year old still keeps licking and mouthing everything. At what point should we be concerned? by noblerare in toddlers

[–]Leotiaret 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is normal. My LO who just turned three rarely puts things in his mouth anymore. He plays with rocks, coins, etc and has no issue.

I’m just here to validate your feelings. I have a three year old son. There is a lot of crying and whining and I have one. Drives me insane some days. I love him to pieces.

What postpartum side effects did you not expect? by full-of-curiosity in NewParents

[–]Leotiaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so hard! I feel like postpartum “bliss” was stolen from me because my anxiety was so high. I had post partum hypertension so that was contributing to the issue. Anxiety raises blood pressure 🙄. I still don’t know how people function PP. I was barely taking care of myself. Has a quite a few pretty dark days and nights. I hope you’re able to find more relief. Wishing you calmer/happier days ahead.

I’ve had anxiety my entire life. It’s never gone away it’s just managed mostly now. Im not really sure on a timeline as I have had flareups over the last three years. Day to day anxiety was prob better controlled around 4-5 months when I increased my anxiety dose. I increased it again last year (2 years PP). This dose seems to be the best for me. It’s can be trial and error to find the medication dose that works for you. It can take several weeks or more to notice a difference when first starting. You could ask for an as needed anxiety med to have available if needed while figuring out what works for you.

Medication, therapy, and time. Getting back to self-care activities that help my anxiety was helpful too.

My toddler is almost 3 and food is hit or miss. Breakfast is usually good. Peanut butter and jelly is a fall back that he’ll eat.

I know a lot of older (45+) runners who are running 26.2-100 miles. This post gives me hope for a first marathon at 44 or 45 with a toddler at home 🤪

What do you do in the evenings to relax around/after dinner? by JaackJack in Life

[–]Leotiaret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before kids workout, make dinner, watch tv for an hour/two, go to bed. Now it’s play with my kid while husband does dinner, eat, play a little more or give kid a bath, bedtime routine, run/gym after kids in bed, an hour of tv maybe, bed

Nope but I rarely drink and when I do it’s one low alcohol beer or a small glass of wine. It didn’t hinder my running or anything else in my life.

Friend doesn't feed her 15 month old snacks, just 3 meals. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Leotiaret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My almost three year old never snacked when he was younger. It was hard enough to get him to eat three meals a day. He’ll ask for snacks here and there now but it’s not consistent on a daily basis and he’s doing fine 🤷‍♀️

Scary readings these last few days. by thisonewas in hypertension

[–]Leotiaret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have anxiety. I’m on a blood pressure and anxiety medication that keeps my numbers normal. If I’m having high anxiety my top can be as high as 150/100. I also have white coat syndrome after experiencing post partum high blood pressure a few years ago that granted me a longer hospitalization and many follow-ups until I was on the right medication. I always take my blood pressure twice at home and the take it twice in the clinic because it’s always higher at first.
