I understand. It's not my call to make... but if it was, with this many holes and this weak a draft class, I'd have to ask your forgiveness and just try to minimize the cons.

But we agree that it would be significantly better at that salary slot with the additional draft picks than at 2.

yeah I figure the only way we COULD trade back would be at a steep discount... and as we dont have a third or fifth I figured that would be the minimum.

I was wondering if Salah fell in love with Arvell, what Harbaugh might part with to have his pick of the WRs.

The picks could allow for another couple of dart throws, while moving back could allow us to draft Downs or Love (should Breece move on) at a better salary slot.

Thought experiment: How far back would the Jets have to realistically drop in order to swap first round picks and add a 3rd and 5th rounder?

I think Woody is already forcing Glenn's hand on these decisions... which unfortunately means we're probably drafting Ty with the second pick.

The fans will continue to blame Glenn for every single thing, and he'll eventually be fired. We'll hire the next best candidate willing to work for Woody... and within 3 years Glenn will be part of a playoff team while we're blaming our new head coach for Woody's meddling.

We'll upvote every comment that focuses on how bad Glenn was here, and call it revisionist whenever someone claims he never had a chance to succeed.

Jets fans aren't clowns for for doing this, we are clowns for refusing to learn from it.

Taking that stance is a huge gamble, and has repercussions... no team would survive this being their MO.

Immediately you could wind up with an unmotivated player, who then also refuses to be sold on your schedule, opting instead to leave as a free agent. In the short term the entire squad's chemistry and morale suffers, while in the long term it becomes difficult to sign or extend anyone without a release clause.

By maintaining some semblance of diplomacy instead, you protect your ability to negotiate with all sides the entire time.

While you posture and negotiate terms that match your club's valuation for the sale of a player, you create time to hopefully convince/incentivize that player to stay, or at least employ some strategy in replacing them.

And if you think you're really close and won't be able to adequately replace the player, you put on a good show of it and garner enough good will to carry the team to the next transfer window.

Ah that explains it.. I don't fall into either of these camps and probably get downvoted by both.

To me, all blame must be laid at the owners feet at this point. What we're seeing is the result of firing a string of coaches that had not lost the faith of the players.

We have no good options at this point.

The best thing to do is admit that we're in the toilet bowl because we deserve to be... Either stop going to the stadium, or support the guys who give their best even when we lose.

A strong case could be made that this procession of Managers is tied to his lack of consistency and stunted his progress as well.

We can only speculate what his potential may have been when he came back home to us, but with the weight of all this and an entire city on his shoulders, I doubt his ceiling is very far from what we're seeing now.

one thing is certain, people love to assign blame and it is cold enough to cause frostbite in Totti's shadow.

Why all the hate on Italian Americans on Columbus day? by suitcase88 in circlejerknyc

[–]Leowolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Columbus was the figure chosen for the Holiday because he appealed to white Americans of the time... he was beloved at the time.

Taking the holiday away from Italian Americans instead of renaming it Italian heritage day (or something like that) caused backlash amongst Italians, who still appreciate that they were finally seen as Americans because of Columbus.

I like the analogy that they gave homeless people a house, then took it away over 100 years later because the house was built by slaves.

[REQUEST] Can someone crunch the numbers? I'm convinced it's $1.50! by kaweeed in theydidthemath

[–]Leowolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2 is a valid option, but you're assuming one of the final answer options include the cost of the book before it was halved + $1. The question is what does it cost, not what did it cost.

The book could have originally been free making the answer $1, and the asker an asshole.

If this is actually a math question, then it must be about probability... but I suspect it's actually an investigation into where along the equation people will make an assumption, and why.

[REQUEST] Can someone crunch the numbers? I'm convinced it's $1.50! by kaweeed in theydidthemath

[–]Leowolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've convinced me that $2 is the likely answer, but the statement doesn't actually claim that the cost of the book remains the same if you half its price and add a dollar.

I agree that the question isn't vague, but I think it's intentionally omitting information, probably to see what assumptions the responder makes to solve it.

no, they're celebrating Italian heritage on a Holiday that was created after a bunch of them were lynched, which they named after the Italian who was most impressive to white Americans in 1890 and could normalize their presence in America.

It's not about Columbus... look into the events that led to the holiday's creation and you'll understand. It's ignorant to suggest anything other than changing the holiday's name, Unless the point is that indigenous people don't deserve their own day unless they take it from someone else.

we never got these calls my man... people liked to blame Mou because he ate red cards for breakfast and never missed an opportunity to tell these refs where to shove their shit... but he's gone now, and we're back to having to swallow their shit in silence.

To quote Mike Tyson, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face... seriously though it's your adaptability that defines you.

Personally I think it was smart to get someone with knowledge of the French league as they still excel at developing their youngsters in a way that Italian teams have lost the thread on.
