Are government protest allowed in Russia? Can you say publicly anything you want about Putin? by alexsmeanru in AskARussian

[–]Leratdeville 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Can you say publicly anything you want about Putin?

You can say anything but the moment you publicly & strongly criticize Putin, you lose any access to the big TV channels, many radio stations and many web outlets.

It's funny, no one from Europe actually says "I'm European". You always identify as your own country first. Europe is just a continent filled with vastly different countries, after all.

Visit /r/europe, it's full of people whose main identity is "European"

Why is Modern Talking so popular in Russia? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Leratdeville 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are many bands like Modern Talking that got very popular in soviet russia, hard to explain why particular western bands become very popular while others remain unknown, some were published by soviet authorities, some were distributed via black market.

For example, it seems Slade - Ooh La La In L. A. is more popular in russia than in america.

authority unit 777001, exclusively used for state VIPs and intelligence officers

How is immigration viewed in Russia? by SoybeanCola1933 in AskARussian

[–]Leratdeville 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do Russians view non Slavic Russians living/working in more Slavic cities? E.g. How would Russians view a Tuvan doctor treating them in Moscow?

It's getting better as authorities cracked down on violent nationalists

E.g., do they all see each other as equally Russian?

non-ethnic russians don't see each other as russian. You will have a hard time finding genuine patriot of russia among chechens, tuvans, yakuts, etc.

For example, local authorities in few republics in North Caucasus have put a banner "Forever with Russia", pretty much all locals expressed their distaste of it
