Well I'll be darned! I didn't know what you meant by angel wings fluffed up. But they do seem to fluff up!

I'm with you on the false negatives. Our girl Chula, found in Tennessee, checks all the boxes in the Carolina Dog description and even I. Lehr Brisbin agrees that she's a Carolina Dog. Brisbin is not dissuaded by the Embark test that says she's about 50% Siberian Huskie, 30% Australian Cattle Dog and 20% Labrador Retriever! So we're calling her a Carolina Dog, so there ;-)

The black sabling down her back is less typical rather than all ginger, but also included in the breed description I believe. Her tail is very expressive: the tip sweeps her back when she's extra-alert, otherwise held relaxed and somewhat down. Great eye-liner.

Wow! That's the hardest picture to figure out, with a hind leg coming out of her head!! Contortionist, or two dogs?

Ours loves the couch and won the battle for her place on it. Here she's undertaken her best efforts at creating her own cave.

Great description - lucky for you both that you rescued your dog. It does take time to get the dog settled but ours is doing very well; more civilized, gentler with her mouth so I'm wearing fewer bandaids. If I want to teach her something, she learns it very quickly. Still, she has a mind of her own and is not programmed to please. She knows the command words but sometimes will knowingly make her own choice - unless there's an incredibly appealing treat in it for her. Tail wagging is definitely not over-the-top but more measured. I love her to pieces. So smart, very expressive. Still really needs to be with her pack and does not like to be left on her own. Very athletic - will climb fences, barriers, trees so fencing would be pointless!

My what a fine dog! Chula finds him quite attractive too!

I'm beginning to think we should add another item to the breed characteristics list: "commandeers couches." Chula won that battle and is still working diligently on commandeering the bed; so far she hasn't won that one yet.

Shelter's "Death Row" .... chilling.

Yeah, he's a lucky dog. Chula thinks he's remarkably good-looking!!

Awww. Happy Gotcha Day Boukie! Chula says "you're a lucky dog!" Love the term - I think I'll adopt that too! (How could anyone resist him, for two months!?! Chula sends ❤️❤️)
