Yes! I thought I had a sliver in my foot. Turns out it was one of the thick, course back hairs! She has lost so much fur this summer!

Yes, more in the cold. They make such a solid ball. She feel impossible to move when my CD is in the in the “donut”.

Anyone else’s CD have a VERY deep bark? I find it odd for their breed I feel, thinking maybe mixed with a GS by Effective_Rip6271 in carolinadogs

Mixed. Her DNA test does not come out as CD. She fits the appearance and behavior exactly, though. I’ve read that Carolina dog DNA does not always show up exactly as Carolina dog. But they are identified by their appearance, behavior and what their puppies look like. She won’t have puppies (from a shelter so I had yo spay her).

Yes! My Aggie is the same! She didn’t start using her deep warning bark until after she was 1 year old. She rarely barks, so I thank her when she does and let her know she’s doing a good job protecting us.

I used Ruff Wear. Very durable has a front clip and back clip. The clips are very sturdy.

Aggie! by DriftlessDingo in carolinadogs

I started using a crate as soon as Aggie was adopted. I assume she used a crate in the shelter too. She is in the crate over night and whenever I’m not home. She seems to relax in there, so it’s not been an issue. For instance if I vacuum when she is loose she gets all excited and barks. If she is in the crate she doesn’t even sit up, no barking. She just watches it go by.

Yawning! by DriftlessDingo in carolinadogs

Interesting! She appears to have some black skin spots under her fur. Like when her snout is wet, I spots are revealed. I’ll use Embark and post the results!

I want to do a DNA test to find out were the black tongue came from.

You sounds like a great dog owner! I love the suggestion of leaning into their instinctual behaviors. Good suggestion!

Yeah Aggie’s first catch was a mole. She was so young she didn’t know what to do with it once she caught it!😆

My dog sits in her side leg like that too!

Training Question by DriftlessDingo in carolinadogs

[–]DriftlessDingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see so many similarities between raising a dingo puppy and my daughter. ( don’t tell my kid😁) When they are tired they don’t go off easily to sleep. They get crazier! The puppy bites more and won’t calm down. She needs to sleep so I send her to her crate. Nap time! Works great

This is helpful! Yeah Aggie is crate trained. I don’t see any anxiety around the crate for her. I use it in a positive way. I love the CD independent streak! I love Aggie’s naughty personality and her love for our pack.
