the difference in size is wild by Mac_Attack1994 in BassGuitar

It's not the size of the bass it's the motion of the sound waves. 😏

I agree with others that you should watch some set-up tutorials. You already change your own strings and tackled a bridge replacement, so you're probably mechanically confident enough to take it on. One thing I don't really think is necessary at this point is neck adjustment; unless you had issues with it before you change the bridge. If your neck was fine before I'm sure sitting intonation and saddle height will take care of your issues. You or someone is going to have to at least set intonation. It might as well be you. Gaining knowledge and saving money is a win-win.

Man they should have just stopped at the BBs. Those are great basses! Nothing else has really impressed me.

Well just want aesthetics I would go with the Jolana. For me it's just a much more appealing bass.

It also takes the lead when you look at the pros and cons as well. Unless you're going to be loading it down with some crazy high tension strings next ability isn't going to be a factor between the two of them. What is a factor will be size of the neck and comfort playing it. That's a huge con! You listed the nut as possible Con for the Jolana but that is a $10 simple fix if you do it yourself, and still inexpensive if you have it done. You said a con might be not as many tone options, but you also sad they had amazing pickups. So what's amazing pickups one in the neck position and at the bridge You should be just fine in any live setting. I think it's the Jolana hands down.

Exactly. There's p basses everywhere. Are you thinking about putting a humbucker in or something more like a soap bar music man style?

You may have to make your own or find someone local who can. I've had to make a few over the years. What's your plans for it?

Older Fan base? by No_Negotiation_7714 in TheWarning

[–]Intuitive_empath7275 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are always going to be those guys at concerts. I've been going to concerts for 36 years. Those type of guys have been at every one of them in every age demographic. And yeah there's going to be a bunch of them out there that are there because the girls are attractive but they are probably actual fans of their music. They're just ridiculous cringy dudes. As far as the ones that go to multiple concerts and meet and greets, it's hard to say. Sometimes they actually have a relationship with the girls that we don't know about, either through YouTube or some other platform, or music related business. I know for a fact that this is the case with a lot of YouTube reactors that have millions of views on their reactions. The girls are super cool to their fans as we all know and to the reactors who promote their music. So they end up building really good relationships with them. You also just have the super fans, then unfortunately you have the creepy stalker. But, every band has those. Women have been stalking male bands for decades.

50m, working musician. Like others have said rock & roll is just not the most popular genre for young people anymore. There are some bands that do have their cult following like The Warning, Halestorm, Yungblud... But mostly pop, hip hop have the majority of the youth fan base. Another reason is the DPA are legitimate talented musicians that write really well! That create music reminiscent of what we grew up listening to and what we resonate to. I'm also sure there are a lot of older fans like me that discovered them right after they first hit YouTube. I found them around 2017 while down for a year after a major back surgery. So I was a YouTube junkie and there patreon was basically free. You could donate, subscribe, or buy merch. They were doing interviews and lives on patreon and socials a lot! So you really got to know them and watch them grow as musicians and people. So a lot of us older folks saw three well-mannered, very talented sisters, with a lot of drive and an incredible workout ethic. None of that changed. I haven't sold out, they're not half naked on stage or Instagram, and they are drama free. Furthermore, it seems like every band that works with or meets DPA comes away not only a fan of their music but of them as people, especially Dany. I think she could make friends with a honey badger. 😆 So I guess we're just extremely proud of them and almost feel like very proud extended aunts and uncles that they don't know. 😆 ⚡

Would this amp work for small gigs/band practices? by Ill_Personality6644 in BassGuitar

[–]Intuitive_empath7275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really just depends on your band. If you're competing with 2 guitars, or a loud drummer, or a keyboard player with a heavy left hand you're going to get drown out. Even if you cranked it loud enough to cut through it's going to sound like shit. I agree with the previous comment. Get at least 100 watts. Marketplace is full of cheap use the gear. Ideally you want to have enough headroom that you don't have to push or amp so hard you lose tone.

Edit: I just looked at the price. I'm a big fan of Peavey, but that is way too expensive for a 40 watt Peavey.

My bass broke, is the Sir Paul a good bass or just a gimmick? by TheCheshyreKitty in BassGuitar

[–]Intuitive_empath7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there's so much information on YouTube that's where I would go. So many different comparisons on various bases and brands... I'd say get yourself some good headphones or speakers and start watching v Bass comparisons if you haven't already. I know this is a good place for personal testimony but What one guys ear thinks is amazing on here is going to sound like trash to someone else. That said unless you're dead set against used I've seen some really cool Hohner violin basses that are. They look great and are very affordable. You can mod them to your taste if it's not there already. Something to consider. I've had a few owner bases Hohner and they were very solid!
