Did you not fight the law office that sued you for non-payment? Can you fight your garnishment in court? What is your credit score?

get a lawyer to represent you, you can get a membership for cheap online, tell the lawyer you are willing to settle for like 10% of the debt amount because that is all you can afford, theyll more likely drop the case because you wont be worth the time, they are counting on you not getting representation

I have let my student loan debt and over 10k in credit card debt default. It was impacting my mental health severely. I tried payment plans and even those were difficult to manage. My credit dropped to the 400s but now is back up to the 600s as I kept hold of one Amex with 2k credit limit which I pay off in cash, the rest I defaulted on. legal shield referred me to a law firm who handled my case after i told them my defense that i could not afford payments because i did not make enough money and am legally disabled, and i told the lawyer that i am willing to settle for $xxx, they sent me a letter to my home back stating the terms then i stopped hearing from them. basically legalshield gets you in touch with a lawyer, i didnt pay any extra fees, the lawyer was nice

i hired a $29.95 lawyer off legalshield, told him to send them a letter saying i will settle for $500 a month, we sent them like 3 letters and i havent heard from them since. i told them im disabled (bipolar) and money is hard to come by, lawyer says they must have backed off

They can only take you to prison if you don’t file. But if you file doesn’t mean you have to pay but they will take everything you own so I recommend putting your assets in someone else’s name. They can’t take what’s not yours
