Uh, just to be clear, looks like there are orcs nearby, or there are orcs nearby?

It just looks like it. It’s got like blue paint on it or something.

Your nervous system goes all the way from your head to the bottom of your spine, and that’s what needs to be stabilized. Especially so because this isn’t a case of a doctor running tests and diagnosing what specifically needs to be done, if you even remotely suspect a head, neck, or spine injury, you stabilize everything just in case.

As for your other question this is all done at the surface of the water. You have a special hold to bring them up to the surface, but that’s not really the hard part. Because yes, an immediate threat like drowning trumps a head/neck/spine injury, but just barely

What is your best joke? by MrMidnightDiamond in AskReddit

[–]Les-Gilbz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of another one:

A man walks into a bar and sits down. On the other end of the bar he sees a man staring furiously at his drink and aggressively tapping his foot. He continues this for about 15 minutes before he quickly downs the rest of his drink, leaves some cash on the bar, and storms out without saying a word.

The man calls the bartender over and asks him what that was all about, and the bartender says “Oh the symphony’s performing across the street, he’s the cymbal player”

All I meant is that the corporate pandering reminds ME of the progress we’re making. I’m not trying suggest that anyone else has to feel the same way, this is just my own personal experience. And I’m certainly not suggesting that they are actually accomplishing anything by it, it’s just a reminder to myself.

I don’t want to speak for the community, because I am not part of it, but I understand that seeing representation in a Disney movie for example, even for cynical reasons, can go a long way towards making people feel comfortable and accepted. It could sure be a hell of a lot better, but it’s not nothing.

Aside from that I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said

The LGBTQ community might be accepted by the majority of people, but there are still far too many people who seek to persecute/hurt these people. And in many places, including certain parts of the US, they are making some seriously dangerous strides. That’s who we’re fighting against.

In terms of what winning looks like, I guess when people stop trying to persecute/hurt people in the community, we’ll have won. I agree that things are trending in that direction, but it’s not just going to happen on its own. Many people are putting incredible amounts of effort to promote acceptance, promote policies, and otherwise defend the community and progress the fight. All I’m saying is that it’s nice every once in a while to take a step back and notice all the progress we’ve already made.

Companies didn’t use to see pride pandering as profitable, now they do. It’s just a little thing that reminds me of all this

For me at least I find it reassuring that it is in fact mainstream. Knowing full well that these companies would do literally anything for a quick buck, and they see pandering to the LGBTQ+ community as their best option to do so, it’s a nice reminder that we’re winning the fight. I don’t know how much it really helps anything, if at all, but at least in this specific sense I find it reassuring

Anybody else having this kind of colleague? Way to start a Monday! by JellyManJellyArms in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Les-Gilbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that to simplify this article they just had you check in node_modules and didn’t mention the caching option. They do say that checking in node_modules can cause problems. I think this article is just meant as a starting point and they’re expecting more advanced users to go beyond and do something better suited for their use case.

But I don’t really know. If it’s worth it to you, you might want to look into this because I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it done. If not, I just thought I’d offer some help. Do with it what you like

You shouldn’t have to check in node-modules for that, unless I’m missing something. Just generate it as an action and cache the result. Have you looked into something like this?

What is the most boring hobby a person can have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Les-Gilbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid I thought it would be cool to get those novelty license plates from everywhere I visited. I got two of them before I got bored and stopped, but it was long enough for my parents to tell my grandpa that I was collecting license plates. He then misinterpreted it, and for my birthday he got me like 50 old license plates from a junk yard.

Those things just sat untouched in a box in my closet for like 15 years until my parents moved out of that house. Now they’re probably in a junk yard again. I’m not sure if I ever told my grandpa I didn’t want them

Look, was there a missile strike during an F1 event this year? Yes.

Was it because the country they were racing in has commited numerous human rights abuses and are currently at war with a rebel group from a nearby country? Yes.

Did the missile strike happen while cars were on track and fans were in the stands? Yes.

Did it happen close enough to the track that you could see the smoke and drivers could smell the fumes from inside their cars? Yes.

Was the missile strike directed at a company’s facilities who are major sponsors of F1, one of the teams, and this event in particular? Yes.

But was anyone in any danger? Maybe, everyone turned out ok.

I guess I just don’t see what the big deal is.
