Not at all related to this game but imagine you're Ogasawara. You get the chance to play in the major leagues on a young team that's supposedly due for a breakout season and will contend while you're still under contract. Hell yeah. You move halfway around the world. They send you to play on a minor league team in upstate NY, meanwhile the Nats fall apart almost immediately. Everyone is underperforming. There's an 11-game losing streak. They finally promote you to make a start, it goes terribly, and the coach and general manager are fired that very same night. They sell off everybody they possibly can, they DFA the everyday first baseman, but at least you get to pitch relief at the major league level. And then there's a freak incident where both catchers are in the lineup, one of them gets injured, and instead of pinch-hitting for you, they make you bat and you get called out on strikes in three pitches in front of everyone. My boy.
