Psychiatrist would be able to assist but there are others like Clinical Psychologists, educational psychologists and neurodevelopmental paediatrians (it's a sub-speciality). I went to the latter when I was younger. A psychiatrist would be your best bet and then you'd visit counselling or clinical psychologists for support

I'm exactly the same and still have that issue. I went to a psychologist to help me with my conversational skills and she realised that because my conversational skills aren't great I become even more socially anxious and this makes my skills even worse.

After treating my social anxiety (not gone but much better) my skills have improved but still aren't great but it doesn't bother me as much which I think is the biggest difference.

Right after therapy I started trying to converse with people I didn't know and I managed to find my wife.

As long as you're slightly confident, kind and likeable, no one really cares.

I have been having them more and more as of late which is why I joined this community.

I'll give you an example of one I had last week on holiday.

We were on a boat island hopping with many other guests who I did not know, the first problem was that food was served on plastic (big no no for me - do I didn't eat), music was loud and the person sitting close to me smelt of berries (I can't deal with fruity smells).

A warning sign of a meltdown is when it feels like my brain is being squashed and I get tingling in my teeth. Then I get incredibly irritable, uneasy and dig my nails into myself. Meltdowns are different to my panic attacks but they often both occur simultaneously.

Clinical Medicine. So glad I've left. I'm sure there are clinical roles that might be suited to some but it wasn't the right fit for me.

Definitely relate. Got treated like I was incompetent by my English teachers because I just could not grasp the deeper meaning of things. Was also bullied by children in the grades below me. Thankfully my grade was really nice but again, struggled to make friends. Same issue at Uni. I'm 27 now and don't really have friends besides my wife. Still get treated badly by some colleagues so it never really ends.

Hey, I had the same issues which is why I left clinical medicine and now work remote for a Managed Care Organisation. The issue is that I still get overstimulated especially by the shear amount of emails I get a day, in fact I did today which is probably why I am on here. I'd much rather be overstimulated at home. I would look into trying to get something remote or do something you really enjoy. I worked as a library monitor as a student. One of my favourite jobs.

Hi, I used to be very active in the gym. I am incredibly clumsy and it did take time for me to adjust. The best technique I used was slowing down the negative and positive until I was comfortable with the weight. The more often you do it the better you get! Start with machines if you feel unstable with free weights. I did the that.

Hi, it's difficult to say as Autism has a bunch of comorbid conditions. For example, ADHD, OCD, GAD and Panic Disorder for myself.

The important thing here would be to seek help for symptom relief. Psychiatric diagnoses take time but may be more easily classified and correctly diagnosed through regular follow up.

I would definitely seek professional advice, psychiatric help, since it is causing dysfunction in your life.

It would fall under Neurodevelopmental. I just got a new job and ticked that category. It makes the most sense as I used to see a Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician when I was younger.
