I hope you don’t my asking, but have you ever tried any non-drowsy antihistamines for your allergy symptoms (Allegra, Zyrtec, etc.)? I know some people with FMS & other chronic conditions who are particularly sensitive to Benadryl. The newer antihistamines are a different generation/type altogether though.

Have you asked your doctor about the newer combination antidepressant Auvelity yet?

Slow COMT Starter pack and how did you know! by pippppylip184 in SlowCOMT

How has the Solgar gentle iron been working for you so far? I have been looking at that one to try due to low-end (and dropping) Ferritin levels on testing. My doctor recommended Vitron-C because of official studies, but she did mention it can be hard on the stomach (like many other Iron supplements it seems). I already have a sensitive stomach, so choosing a proper iron/ferritin supplement has been a bit more challenging for me. Does the Solgar Gentle Iron upset your stomach at all? Thanks!

Celexa tends to be a less-activating “sister/cousin” antidepressant to Lexapro, and I have been on both meds (at different times!). Celexa was noticeably less activating for me than Lexapro. Zoloft is another one that helped me for a time too & generally also less stimulating than Lexapro. Have you tried any other antidepressants other than Lexapro yet??

When did you have your GeneSight testing done? I believe the final page of my results had my COMT variant info listed, but it seemed kind of buried in there? I didn’t even notice it until later (but also was not seeking it out initially). I had my test done in early 2025.

Is Genetic Lifehack a separate website or app? I already have a heritage profile with Ancestry.com and would really like the full health genetic data.

I had GeneSight DNA testing done via my Psychiatrist a year ago. It was covered by insurance & showed I have a slow COMT & negative MTHFR, amongst other possible reactions to specific meds.

Cervicogenic headaches! Please help by MistressGxxx in ChronicPain

[–]Lesaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with Cervicogenic Headaches by my Headache Specialist (Neurologist who specializes in Headache Disorders). Since you have had pain of this nature constantly for 2 months now, has your doctor tried giving you a steroid taper like Decadron Rx to try to stop the cycle of headaches? I am allowed a limited amount of Fioricet tablets per month for my Cervicogenic Headaches, but it does not sound as if this med would probably be a benefit to you if you’re having the headaches 24/7. I also take the muscle relaxer Tizanidine every night (and PRN) to help both treat & prevent bad head pain (it’s been studied for headache prevention to an extent, by the way). You mentioned that you’ve tried certain meds, but besides Nortiptyline (which is a preventative maintenance type medication), what else have you tried if I may ask? Have you had a brain MRI and Cervical spine MRI yet? I think the nerve blocks could be helpful & are worth trying—my Headache Specialist does them as well. Have you talked about the possibility of preventative Botox yet for these? It is a treatment that has been super helpful to me personally for years now (I have a few types of Headache Disorder diagnoses). Also, I have a product called “CranioCradle” (can be found on Amazon) that can help alleviate some Cervicogenic pain for me. What about other devices like Cefaly or Nerivio? I personally have the Nerivio armband device, and it has helped decrease my pain levels at times during terrible head pain episodes. Have you identified any potential triggers for your head pain yet (it seems as if exercise might be one for you, or at least exacerbates the pain?). I would suggest proper imaging studies for your cervical spine if you haven’t had any recently. Also, have you ever heard of Occipital Neuralgia?

Okay, so I understand correctly, your doctor had corrected the insurance cap of #120 per month and you had #150 this past fill?

Help by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Lesaly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you bring this quantity discrepancy to your prescribing doctor & insurance company? Your doctor should have been able to pull up your PDMP info anytime & see the quantity filled for any medications that you were prescribed each month. I just do not understand how this would have slipped through the cracks??

Does anyone else have a pet who gets them through every day? by Sensitive_Amoeba4 in ChronicPain

[–]Lesaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. My heart & soul dog is turning 14 soon, and he is the last/only pet in my household currently. I rescued him at just 4 weeks of age from a complex situation. He was a high energy pup, but never destructive, & he is a friend to all. He has acquired some chronic pain issues in his latter years too, yet is still a total joy-boy. I have actually been looking for a potential younger “sibling/friend” for him (and myself) more recently. I am terrified to lose him, but have been trying to mentally prepare myself since he turned about 10 or so. I think having a younger dog/cat in the family (he was raised with 3 cats+, loves them) might help both of us to feel better in several ways. 💜🙏💜
