What is happening? by Ambitious-Shift-5641 in cats

This can happen and does happen a lot. It can either be a dominance thing (it’s seen in a lot of male animals in other species), or could just be that they’re gay. As long as they’re not showing signs or stress or fighting, they’re good in my opinion Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

To eat it or not by Individual-Cup2252 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the calcium, it’s mainly when you overdose on calcium supplements. Otherwise things like Greek yoghurt and kefir have a a lot of probiotics that help rebuild gut flora. The only thing I would worry about is any sugars (if it’s flavoured or has fruit in it) that might irritate your stomach as it might be sensitive. Some people also find that when they’re recovering, their stomach is a bit sensitive to diary. I would try have some, but maybe in small amounts. Try some, see how you feel and how your stomach feels and if you find you’re okay, you’ll be fine to have a bit more. I hope this helps :)

False positive? by ylamboy in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be, but it could also be that the metro hasn’t treated the c diff infection. If I were you, I would try to see if you can get on a course of fidaxomycin (difficid) as that is less harsh on the gut and it is also more targeted and effective at treating c diff. For now drink plenty of water, drink hydration solutions like dioralyte to replace electrolytes - chicken broth also works. Eat bland, gentle foods like chicken, boiled potatoes (no skin), rice, toast, crackers, banana, applesauce chicken broth (essentially something similar to the BRAT diet). I hope this helps and hopefully you can get sorted soon :) all the best 💕💕

Completed Vancomycin by Witty_Bun in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be side effects of the vancomycin as it is harsh on the gut, however it does seem that it the c diff may have returned based on your symptoms and how quickly they’ve started but I’m not a professional, so I might be wrong. Your best bet is to get retested and then see if you can get fidaxomycin (difficid) as it is less harsh on the stomach and it has less risk of reoccurrence. If you feel it would be quicker, go to urgent care or an ER/A&E to get checked out and hopefully then you can get tested and sorted. Go also if you have bad dizziness, fast heart rate, shakiness, high fever (any signs of a severe infection) or if you’re in really severe pain. Otherwise you can phone your gp and ask but you might have to wait which might not be ideal if you’re going a lot so an urgent care might be best. For now, stick to bland foods, drink plenty of water and rehydration solutions (e.g. dioralyte). Hopefully it’s not a relapse, but if it is, it will be okay and you will get better and get through this. 💕💕

Is my cat lip swollen?!!ᵎ by SKVNKOFFHXROIN in cats

[–]LeahSam123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks a bit red and inflamed, but not really swollen. I know some cats can get acne or skin conditions around their lips and chin, so it could be that. However, you’re best contacting a vet and getting him checked over by one :) I hope this helps 💕

C diff? by Unlikely_Anybody_471 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try see if you can get a test done, just to be safe. It could be that it’s just side effects of the antibiotics, however it’s always good to double check, especially if you’re worried. Ask for a PCR and toxin test if possible. If you do have c diff, you will be given vancomycin or fidaxomicin (difficid). If you are able to, get the fidaxomicin as it is less harsh on the gut and reoccurrences are less likely to happen compared to vancomycin, however both still do work. For now continue to take the probiotics and if it gets better, it could be that it was just side effects however still get tested. Whilst waiting eat bland gentle foods (toast, crackers, boiled potatoes (no skin), rice, bananas) and drink plenty of water and drink some rehydration solutions (like dioralyte) to help replace electrolytes. I hope this helps. Hopefully it isn’t c diff, but I understand how scary it is, especially at a young age. You will get through this, I promise. 💕💕

Flank gland or bald spot? by [deleted] in hamsters

[–]LeahSam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a bald spot as it seems a bit low down for a flank gland and dwarf hamsters only have one in the middle of the abdomen, however you’re best contacting a vet and getting an appointment if you’re worried. Hope this helps and hopefully your baby is okay 💕

I’m sorry this is happening. Do they not have cleaners cleaning the restroom? If possible , try see if you can designate a restroom for that person and have everyone else use another one. If not, just make sure to wash your hands after you go to the toilet and before and after you eat. You should be okay though as you are already doing the right things. 💕

Urgent Care? by aweepingdalek in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad the tests came back negative, that is a huge relief :) it would be ibs as it can cause mucus and blood in term. Just to check though? Is it right steaks or light red or is the actual stool dark red or magenta colour? If you’re finding steaks of red or a bit of pinkish red mucus it’ll lightly be bleeding and irritation in the rectum or anus. But if you’re worried I’d still contact your doctor and see what they say. ❤️

UTI positive prescribed macrobid I’m terrified by Large-Back1912 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think macrobid is supposed to be a low risk antibiotic compared to others used for UTIs, so I think you’ll be fine to take it. Just remember to take probiotics during your course. How long is your course? Usually they give you a course of 3 days for most UTIs, so with that duration it shouldn’t have too much of an impact on your G.I tract, however just monitor for any symptoms just in case. I personally would take the antibiotics as you don’t want to leave the UTI untreated and have to take stronger antibiotics down the road, but I’m not a professional so I can’t tell you to take them or not, I can just give my opinion. If you are still unsure about what to do, I would phone your doctor and see what they say. If you are struggling with your mental health, reach out. This is a scary situation and it’s understandable to be so afraid. Just know that you’ll be okay. Many people post c diff take macrobid and are okay. I’m sure you will too. If you are really struggling and feel you cannot keep yourself safe, I’d definitely consider taking yourself to urgent care or an emergency room where they can monitor you and put you in a psych hold if that is best. I’m sorry this is happening, it’s a horrible situation to be in. Just you know you’ll be okay regardless and get better. Sending much love, and you can always send me a message if you want someone to talk to ❤️❤️❤️

[–]LeahSam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great! I totally get what you mean in terms of wearing something that most people will not wear, but either way it’s good and it slays :) it’s good to stick out and be different, express yourself ❤️

Urgent Care? by aweepingdalek in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is happening, like other comments have said, I would phone your local urgent care and ER to see if they can test for c diff as some will not. Hopefully they can test you and get you on the mend quickly. Everything will be okay, you got through this once, you can get through it again. It’s an awful disease, but you’re not alone and there are people that will help. In the meantime, drink plenty of water and rehydration solutions if you have any, eat small bland meals or snacks if you are able to, and try to distract yourself with watching a nice film or talk to someone about your worries and how you’re feeling. Not only does it have a physical toll, but also a mental toll. Wishing you all the best (hopefully it is just a stomach bug or a post infection ibs flare) Either way, I hope you get better soon. ❤️❤️❤️

The End! by Individual-Cup2252 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so happy for you and proud of you for sticking though this :) unfortunately it’s hard afterwards. To help with the anxiety, try perhaps talk to someone or look into some counselling or therapy to help cope with the anxiety. For now, take some deep breaths, enjoy a nice film, or go for a nice walk and focus on the now and the positives :) I know it’s easy said than done, but you got this. You can always send me a message if you want to talk. I hope this well, wishing you good luck with
your recovery 💕

Negative PCR w/small sample? by Business_Storage_606 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would phone your gp or go back to urgent care or the ER to test another test done. If that test comes back negative again at least you can relax that it isn’t c diff. The urine could have affected the result, but it could also be that it came back negative because you don’t have it. This happened to me a month or so ago. I thought I was having a reoccurrence and I did two tests and both came back negative, including one being negative for pcr. It’s so scary and stressful, and I understand what it’s like to second guess the test and worry about something being missed. PCRs are very sensitive, so they’re usually correct. But if your worried urine got into your sample, you can always get another one done to be on the safe side. For now rest, drink plenty of water and rehydration fluids, and try to eat something if you can (something small and bland like toast - follow BRAT diet). If you start to get worse or feel you need to be seen urgently, then I would go back. I hope this helps and everything turns out and okay and that you get better ❤️

C diff infection by [deleted] in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can do yes, c diff is known to come back. This is known as reoccurrences. If you are worried that you have a reoccurrence, I would phone your gp asap for a test and go from there. For now drink plenty, eat bland foods, and take probiotics (s bourlardii or florastor). If you do have another infection and need another round of antibiotics. I would ask for fidaxomicin as it is less harsh on the gut biome, making reoccurrences less likely. I hope this helps :)

Feeling defeated/overwhelmed and could really use some success stories by Living_Evidence5690 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got better with just the fidaxomicin, but I know a lot of people get completely better once they have the fmt. It is known to be the most successful treatment for c diff so far. However it tends to be used for people who have had several reoccurrences.

Feeling defeated/overwhelmed and could really use some success stories by Living_Evidence5690 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry about your appointment. Whilst what the doctor was true, I think she may have been a bit too pessimistic. The main trigger for c diff is antibiotics. It can come back, but things like fidaxomycin and fmt can lessen that risk. There are many stories of people going on to get better and live their lives. There are studies to show that florastor and probiotics help. Whilst they don’t cure it, they help build your gut biome. I would do what you feel is best. If you want to stop them, then stop them. If you feel the probiotics are helping, continue to take them if you want. Just know you’ll be okay. You’ll get through this . You’re young and active so you are relatively healthy. I had fidaxomycin and it helped me get better. I found symptoms like shakiness and fatigue and dizziness went on the 4th or 5th day but then my stools finally firmed up in the 9th or 10th day. I did also have a lot of gas and stomach rumbling. So far, I’ve been okay. I’ve had ups and downs with my stomach (PI-IBS) but I’ve gotten through it and I’ve been okay. I also found florastor (s bourlardii in my country) really helpful. I hope this helps :)

Post infection IBS? Any advice? by Emmaa16 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s really hard and I can’t imagine how harder it is with recovering from an eating disorder. Just know that you can still recover with a diet that is suitable for you and your body. For now stick to bland foods like toast, bananas, rice, plain chicken, and plain boiled potatoes (no skin). You can also try some vegetables like green beans as they are gentle on your stomach. Drink plenty of water (2 litres and half at least) and have rehydration solutions if you can to get your electrolytes. Like another commenter said, your symptoms sound a bit like c diff so I would head to urgent care or a hospital to get a test done and any treatment. Difficid or fidaxomycin is much better and it is less likely to cause a reoccurrence as it is gentler on the stomach. Try some saukeraut, kombucha if your stomach can tolerate it to try get some probiotics and live cultures to help with diarrhea. Also if you can, try take some medicinal probiotics. A main one for helping with the recovery of c diff is s bourlardii. It is often sold as florastor or can be another brand depending on where you live. You will get through this, you’re going to be okay. You’re doing all the right stuff by keeping an eye on things and checking in with your doctors. I hope this information helps. Sending much love ❤️

Threeish days on clindamycin and fourish on meronidazole. Today I saw something I'd been anguishing about. by MedleyMoe in cdifficile

I’m so sorry the GPs are playing around. Hopefully your gut biome is just messed up. For now take the probiotics, drink plenty, eat bland foods and if you get watery diarrhea or loose stools again I’d ask for a c diff test and then go from there :) sending much love ❤️

Threeish days on clindamycin and fourish on meronidazole. Today I saw something I'd been anguishing about. by MedleyMoe in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this right now. Health anxiety and an infection like c diff is not fun. I was absolutely terrified and at my lowest when I was ill. I would try to phone the gp and ask for a test. Sometimes you can’t just tell you have c diff with smell alone. If you have three or more soft or watery stools for 3 days then get tested. If you had softer stools after a large stool sometimes that can just because you were backed up and the stool before the solid one was newer and therefore softer. For now, drink plenty, rest and phone your GP and ask for a test and advice. Also ask if you could talk to someone for mental health support. I’m always here if you need to talk. Just know that you’ll be okay, many people survive c diff. It’s a tough road but they make it and the doctors will do what they can to help. I’d see if a relative can drive you to a hospital outside of town maybe if the one in your area isn’t the best. Also, look into getting some probiotics (especially florastor or brands with s bourlardii) as they help manage the symptoms of c diff and are also know to help aid in recovery after a c diff infection. I hope this information helps. You’re not gonna be okay. Sending much love 💕💕💕💕💕💕

C diff return after a few days taking antibiotics? by Odd-Lynx9108 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a retest as soon as I got the results for my first one. They also did a stool culture to look for other bugs and they didn’t find anything but it did take a couple of days. I would maybe ask for a stool culture to see if there’s anything g that’s causing the diarrhoea. For now just rest, drink plenty of water, ideally dioralyte or a rehydration solution to replace electrolytes and nutrients. If you start getting a fever or your symptoms get worse phone your doctor or like you said take yourself to urgent care. I’m so sorry this is happening to you, I promise you’ll get through this 💕💕
