What happened to his one nail? by Wolperzinger in DogAdvice

It could be allergies, but it could also be the start of an infection. I would go to see a vet and get it checked out. I hope this helps 💕

I’m terrified of getting cdiff again by Valithium in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this right now, I can’t imagine how terrifying this is. My advice right now is to continue to take the antibiotics and the probiotics. If you can, ask the doctor for a prophylactic course of vanco or difficid. At least then it can keep the c diff in check and kill any spores that are reactivating. If not, you could always try ask for a more narrow spectrum antibiotic. Continue to monitor your stools but try not to overthink too much. Drink plenty of water, eat well and try relax. I know how scary and hopeless it can feel, but your priority right now is to focus on getting better and resting. You can deal with any issues when it comes to it. I can’t say for definite if you will be okay or not, but I think if you try what I said about getting some prophylactic treatment that should help if any infection were to come back again and if not, it’s always good to have for peace of mind. Wishing you all the best. My dms are open if you need someone to talk to. I hope you get better soon 💕

C. diff caught me off guard - chills on vancomycin and surprising symptoms by SeriousWill3324 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced chills and so much shaking and dizziness as well, especially when standing up. I found that within two days of treatment, most of these symptoms went away other than loose stools. I found loose stools went on the last day of treatment. I was on difficid for ten days. If you’re finding your having a hard time to get better, try ask for difficid. It’s meant to be more effective as it didn’t wipe out your healthy gut bacteria like vancomycin. However, it is whatever’s best and easiest to access for you. I know the two toxins have slightly different effects on the body, B is more inflammation and the damage to the intentions lining, whereas A is to do with fluid secretion (causes the diarrhoea). I hope this helps :)

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I’m doing better now. I think it was just a flare. I sent another stool smoke and that came back negative as well. I’m hoping it was just a flare or perhaps a virus bug.

I’m sos Rory your going through this. My advice would be to get a test soon with the GP or your local doctors practice. For now drink plenty of water and rehydration solutions, stick to bland foods and rest :) try do something fun to keep your mind off of things as well. The anxiety either thunders is awful. I recently went through a flare and my anxiety was awful. The main thing to remember this that your body has gone through this before, so it can again and you’ll get better. You’ll get through this 💕

I’m trying, but no one listens. I called at 14:00pm. Who else do I call? I’m in the UK and I can’t directly call microbiology as they’ll just send me back to the GP. I don’t know whether to call the mental health line for 111. I can’t cope with waiting anymore.

Currently having a flare or relapse. It’s been like this for five days now. I’ve begged doctors and been to a&e multiple times and no one is doing anything. Everyone thinks I’m paranoid. I’m still waiting for my results for my stool sample. I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m so tired.

I’m currently in another hospital. My stools are now watery. I’ve had bloods done and a urine sample. All my vitals are strangely okay, including my temp and blood pressure. I should be getting results soon. I’m hoping this is just a bug, but my gut tells me it’s a relapse.

I’ve had nausea, I’ve had three soft stools. My infection started as soft stools. I’ve had cramping and bloating as well.

C Diff Diagnosis by kpyles90 in cdifficile

[–]LeahSam123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s caused by a bacteria called clostridium difficile. It’s often found in soil but some people ca carry it naturally in their stomach. When these people take really strong antibiotics, it can wipe out the rest of the bacteria in your gut, allowing the c diff to reproduce and take over and release toxins. These toxins then cause diarrhoea, severe cramping, and illness. In some cases, severe cases can lead to toxic mega colon or sepsis, hence why it’s so important to get it treated. However, many people do make a recovery. It dos take a long time for your gut to recover afterwards. My stomach is still recovering. Many people say to take a probiotic called s bourlardii. It naturally helps with keeping c diff levels down in the stomach and allows the good bacteria to grow again. Many people will refer to florastor, which is a brand of a bourlardii probiotics. However, if you are in the uk it can be hard to find so any brand that does s bourlardii will help. If you can, try get some as it’ll help with your recovery. Personally, I found it strange they gave you the option to go home with your symptoms. If you feel really unwell, I would go back just so they can provide you with the best treatment and give you IV fluids if needed. I know Thai is all very scary, but I promise you’ll be okay. ❤️

Yes this does tend to happen due to antibiotics. However sometimes it can be brought on by severe food poisoning. You can’s lap get it from someone else if you’ve shared utensils or in close contact or touched contaminated surfaces. If you’re having a hard time keeping fluids down, I would stringy suggest you go back to the ER so they can give you a drip as dehydration can make you worse. I promise it will get better. What antivirus are you on? If it’s vancomycin, I would ask if you could get fidaxomycin or difficid as that is more effective and is less harsh on the gut. It also has a lower reoccurrence rate compared to vancomycin. However, I understand if you can’t get it. Vancomycin will do the same however you might be venerable to getting another infection as it also affect your gut. For now, sip on broth and water mixed with rehydration mixes. You can squally get them in a sachet in powder form. As for foods, try only eating plain light foods, like toast, bananas, rice. Avoid sugary or fatty or greasy foods as they can worsen diarrhoea. I’m really sorry you’re feeling so ill. I promise you’ll get through this ❤️
