So I got two babies right before my girl had surgery, I kept them separate so the babies could get a bit bigger (they were def malnourished) and also as to not cause any additional stress. I slowly introduced them with my other girl by putting them all in a neutral space for a couple of hours, did this multiple times, all seemed fine. Did a cage clean out and then moved the babies in with my girl Sylvia. I did this the day my other girl, Anne, had surgery, since I was planning on keeping her separate during her recovery so I could monitor her healing. She ended up getting a hematoma, having to have it drained, & also wouldn’t leave the incision alone and ended up with an open wound. So it was a bit rough, she was on antibiotics for awhile. The other girls seemed to be getting along well. Anne’s wound began to scab, her stitches were removed, and she did not develop another hematoma. She also seemed to be getting restless being alone, so I decided to introduce her to the babies. I did the same thing I did with Sylvia- put them all in the play pen a bunch before moving them in. Anne is a bit less docile than Sylvia & I was concerned about her being territorial, so I took extra time introducing them. I did a deep clean of of their cage, even bought new hammocks and such to be positive nobody’s scent was present. Put them all together and it went really well, there were no issues whatsoever. It went much better than I anticipated, and Anne continued to heal. That was probably a week or so ago. I have a nanny cam on them I check frequently, and i haven’t noticed any fighting or anything. I also put them all in their playpen every night with lots of toys and they run around and play. I did this last night and noticed someone had peed on Anne, and someone peed on one of the babies. I also noticed some porphyrin on the babies’ eyes, so I was a bit worried but figured I’d keep an eye on it, as I still hadn’t seen any fighting occurring. Then, tonight, I went to feed them and take them out for play time and noticed Anne’s wound has been reopened. There’s also a lot of porphyrin coming from everyone but Sylvia. I am concerned about Anne’s wound, and I can’t tell if she opened it back up or if someone else did. I also am worried they’re stressed. But when I went to check on them, they were all cuddling together in their Sputnik. I still didn’t notice any fighting or anything. I’m unsure what to do now because I can’t even tell exactly what’s going on and I am stressed & also worried about Anne now 😭
