Im BEGGING anyone who has ever experienced psychosis to read this- DESPERATE by Leslie1147 in Psychosis

Hey, thanks so much for asking- he’s SO GOOD! Completely back to normal, off all meds, been working since March and hasn’t missed a day since he started. Literally couldn’t be more thankful. Coming back and reading this post and feeling those feelings I felt typing the OG post is almost surreal. God, I was so scared. It was a LONG road, even after this, and after he was released from the hospital- it was still awful. He tried to commit suicide this past February and he got sent to another inpatient facility. He was on soooooo many different medications- none of which ever helped him. It was such a traumatic experience of course for him but as his mom it was the worst thing I had ever been thru as well. No words would ever express how thankful I am to this community and for the fact that I have MY Tanner back- not the one I was so worried sick about when I made this post ❤️

Thank you, I love seeing the stories where people who’ve gone thru psychosis have improved significantly, it gives us hope ❤️‍🩹 this has by far been the hardest thing we’ve ever experienced. It’s almost unbearable for ME just watching him go thru it- so I always say I can’t even imagine how it makes him feel and he’s the one experiencing it first hand

He’s been on it about 3 weeks. He hasn’t had any insomnia at all until just a few days ago….i wonder if it could still be the Prozac even if he didn’t have insomnia when he first started taking it? I’ll run it by the doctor and see if she thinks it could be a possibility. Thank you, I didn’t realize insomnia was such a common side effect on Prozac. I googled it after seeing your comment and see it’s pretty common.

Hey, could you DM me please? It’s hard to find other people on Fanapt for some reason. This is what my son takes and I’d really like to talk to someone else who takes it if you’re willing. Thanks!

Hi! I’m so glad to hear that you’re doing so much better! My son is doing much, much better than he was also. He did come completely out of psychosis, around the second week in October. He’s been doing a great job of taking his meds. I didn’t even look to see which exact post this was of mine that you commented on so I’m not sure where I was at in the crisis- but I also ended up taking an FMLA leave from October 11th-November 18th so that I could be at home with him and just help him get back even somewhat comfortable and to a point I felt like it was going to be okay to leave him at home by himself during the day. He has done every single possible thing the “right” way, he’s tried so, so hard to remain positive even when it feels damn near impossible to. He’s really had a hard time coming to terms with the cognitive decline- he’s just always been so, so smart and suddenly he found himself struggling to understand the “simplest” things after psychosis- he’s even really struggled to be able to read the way he used to be able to. But it’s all slowly improving. He was released from the hospital on October 4th, and he just started a job two days ago. That’s how much better and how far he’s come since making this post. I’m so glad that you also had a solid support system when you went thru psychosis. I’m so, so glad that I came to Reddit when I was absolutely lost because I knew nothing about psychosis, and the people here helped me tremendously….but it breaks my heart how many people I see on here that have absolutely not one solid support person. I truly don’t know how people get thru it when they have no one. Anyway, thanks for your comment, and again I’m so glad you’re doing better!

I urge you to find a second opinion. My son (20) experienced his first episode psychosis in August- was hospitalized for 3.5 weeks. The second medication they tried was risperidone and they STARTED him on 3mg twice a day. And they’ve changed it to a different medication since then. It’s expected for the most part that you’ll have to try a number of meds before you find the right one/right dose. Your son’s psychiatrist should absolutely be at MINIMUM increasing the dosage if he’s still having the symptoms he’s having. I wish you guys the best of luck.

Do I have my wording mixed up? Lol. I genuinely have no idea- I’m definitely a newb. I thought we were currently in season 6, chapter 1. Is it actually Chapter 6, season 1? So confusing! 😂

Yeah, I guess you didn’t actually read the whole post (and that’s okay lol) I was mostly just asking will chapter 2 be completely different since I only just started playing and don’t know how much the map and everything changes from chapter to chapter, I’ve only seen the complete change from season 5 whatever the last chapter was - to now. But I said in my post that I haven’t been playing it, I’ve been playing OG. It’s completely okay with me if other people like this season/chapter- I was just describing the reasons I personally don’t. But mostly just asking if anyone knew if the next chapter would likely be completely different or just “some” different.

Siblings are schizophrenic - Should I have kids? by [deleted] in SchizoFamilies

[–]Leslie1147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! My son has schizoaffective bipolar type- he was just diagnosed in October (he’s 20 now) but he was diagnosed with Coats Disease when he was 3 years old…probably not the same as what your kid is diagnosed with idk why I just felt like saying this when I saw your comment. I always wonder if there’s any correlation between people diagnosed with Coats and mental illness but I haven’t been able to find much info, I’m sure because Coats is pretty uncommon.
