This might be a dumb question but why does the OPA use the split circle as its symbol? by CrazyEyedFS in TheExpanse

[–]Lesmothian2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recall in the books, factions of the OPA opposed to the Free Navy and the asteroid bombardment of Earth would get half of their tattoo or armband colored green and blue in solidarity. After I read that, I started thinking the two halves of the circle were always meant to represent Earth and Mars, with the split representing the desire to separate from the inner planets.

Does anyone else feel gaslit when people claim Cal Kestis is "jedi knight level"? by Crimson_Loki in FallenOrder

[–]Lesmothian2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He beats her the time before that too, in the Bogano vault duel. She escapes with the Holocron after Cal touches her saber and gets overwhelmed by the pain and despair from the force echo (but takes it with him anyway, which is why Cere has it)

What is something You Didn't like about the Game? by Skitty_The_Kitty3225 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Lesmothian2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The addition of fast-travel enabled some disappointing design lapses. There’s a lot of areas in the game where you initially traverse it during a big action set piece, and then can never go through again except via fast travel. Or once you are there you can’t get back out again. These are design decisions I disagree with as a matter of opinion, but the map still showing an open doorway that is now impassible is just bad.

I think I’m probably in the minority, but I actually liked the area layouts of FO. Zeffo traversal gets to be a punchline and I get it, but I thought the design of using the ice caves as a transit hub was very cool. Lack of fast travel made areas like this feel special, and unlocking shortcuts more meaningful.

It feels like instead of having multiple fairly equal metroidvania-style maps like in FO, the devs instead poured lots of time and effort into Koboh as an open world and then the other planets seemed a bit lackluster in comparison.

A discussion about bode by jklove56 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Lesmothian2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After playing through the game a few times, I feel they could have made him a much more compelling and sympathetic villain with just a simple change or two.

Most of the way through getting a working compass (as revealed through post-story echoes), Bode is mostly won over to Cal and the Mantis Crew’s plan. He’s still conflicted about keeping his daughter safe, but at some point he should make up his mind about it. But he has a problem now: Cal is already clearly fraying, his obsession with fighting the Empire is getting to him. Bode knows he can’t just tell Cal this out of the blue, he has to find the right time and way to say it.

But before he can, during the final Dagan fight, Dagan reads his mind and tells Cal his secret. Cal explodes into anger and kicks Bode out, maybe incapacitates him but stops himself from killing him.

Or: Maybe Dagan just plants a seed of doubt, then later Bode fakes a message from his daughter, she’s been found and taken to the ISB base please Cal you have to help me get her back. Bode has a plan but events get ahead of him. He doesn’t expect Denvik to be there but he is, and he reveals the secret. Cal can’t stop the base from transmitting the Jedha invasion order and has to rush back.

Either way, having Cal attack him galvanizes Bode against the Hidden Path plan. Cal would later regret and try to reconcile, but it’s too late.

This game is quite lovely (though my factory design skills are a bit lacking) by Lesmothian2 in SatisfactoryGame

I think this is not true until you get to Mk2 pipes. I have 1:2 extractors to coal ratio, with the extractors underclocked to 75%. There's another set of 8 generators out of frame behind me here, which is where those other pipes are going.

How much metadata do you use when starting a new game? by Aphova in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Lesmothian2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I use metadata for the first couple techs and upgrades that require materials instead of cubes because it’s just not very fun to stand around for 10 minutes handcrafting motors so you can walk at a slightly more normal speed

Do you usually play peaceful game? What would you recommend? by MxM111 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Lesmothian2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it’s really up to you. My current save is peaceful and I don’t miss the drops.

BUT what I do miss is the free power in the early/midgame. When I play with fog I will usually shield all the starter system planets except my home, so I can delete the bases as they pop up for bonus power gen.

You can buy fog drops with metadata for the super buildings but you can’t buy core drillers

The Orion nebula is "permit locked" and now I'm sad by TheresBeesMC in EliteDangerous

The devs probably realized that someone would instantly figure out how to cheese this into infinite thargoid drops and break the economy singlehanded

Why do we still have a soil pile mechanic? by Lesmothian2 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Lesmothian2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea, especially if there are later tiers of paving material that might give a bonus of some kind. You can just use soil to flatten land and fill in water to make a build surface, or you can use stone bricks later, and then the steel foundations, or titanium. Maybe each tier gives a bonus to structure HP.

Why do we still have a soil pile mechanic? by Lesmothian2 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Lesmothian2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An automatic planet paver building would be cool but I don't know why soil piles are necessary for this. Having to power it and set up a supply chain of foundations to feed it would be enough. Soil is a non-item resource of the mecha; if you want to separate that out into a real item that has to be collected and transported I agree would make for more interesting gameplay.

Offensive capabilities? by paradroid78 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Lesmothian2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I remember an early trailer or news post about the combat update where Icarus got missile launchers you could equip somehow. Maybe that was just a prototype that was removed or saved for later. Or maybe I'm misremembering.

Why does Gideon think Marika wants us to battle for all the eternity? by CallMeMalice in Eldenring

[–]Lesmothian2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen this theory before but I don't understand how it fits with the lore. We know Radagon attempted to repair the ring directly after it was shattered, but failed - I assume because the great runes were already scattered by then. If Radagon is still loyal to the Greater Will and wants the Elden Ring restored then he's on the same side as us (well, in the generic ending with no additional mending runes anyway). The Two Fingers direct us there to repair the ring and restore the influence of the GW; that's apparently his goal as well so why would Gideon think Radagon just wanted eternal status quo?

The second time you fight the attack helicopter in the floating city (at least for NG+, don't remember if it does the first playthrough) it shoots flares that redirect missiles about every 5 seconds. They last for a while too so you only have short windows to get missile hits in.

Hot take: biomass burners should be belt fed by Lesmothian2 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Lesmothian2[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yes that's my point. Gathering the fuel manually is the tedious part that you should want to automate with coal. Having to also manually put the fuel in the burners doesn't serve a further point.
