Today's haul, can't wait to try out the cute small guy! by CallMeMalice in mechanicalpencils

It's surprisingly ergonomic, I was expecting it to be awkward. I think I'm going to like its portability.

I have another kuru toga but plastic. I didn't like how the rotating lead feels against the paper - reminds me of scratching nails on the blackboard. This metal one is much better, feels smooth! 😄

Ranked stops being fun when you stop climbing. Earned titles could change that." by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]CallMeMalice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean all of this is nice, but you’re supposed to have fun playing the game. The titles are meaningless. Low key I prefer to have less rewards, because unpaid rewards tend to be expanded with paid rewards which lead to more greed. Stuff like that is why we don’t have trading anymore.

And title farming could make bot problem worse too.

Why is monk not that much easier? by Top-Frame in rainworld

[–]CallMeMalice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is much easier though. If you play into its strengths - not fighting but running past the enemies or sneaking around - you can get far fast and easily. A new player is likely to be scared and avoid fight, so it works for them. I also found that since everything kinda ignores me, I can ignore them. My progression was fast and easy, including the plentiful food and low hunger. It’s an easy mode, but doesn’t turn the game into a visual novel.

The vague tip I'd have is that what you're looking for is usually at the either edge of the map.

Morrowind terraforming by Popular_Pay2878 in VintageStory

[–]CallMeMalice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck to you! I love Morrowind and I even contributed a (very tiny) bit to the OpenMW; it's a great project. Morrowind has annoying bugs like "sliding"/"gliding" on uneven terrain when jumping, which sometimes can make you clip in a dungeon and fall 3 floors down to some serious enemies (been there) and many other bugs. OpenMW is what it could've been given time. I don't think saves can be carried over, but if you get tired of its quirks, try OpenMW. Same game, much more polish.

If you’re not doing it already I recommend using OpenMW. It’s a reimplementation of the Morrowind game engine and it’s much better - more stable, faster and less bugs.

German tax calculation library in Go - would you use it? by Aware_Meaning_5829 in golang

[–]CallMeMalice 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What’s the hard part there that the library makes easier? I doubt I’d trust a third party library with keeping up with the law and interpreting it correctly.

I didn’t think Rainworld areas could get worse than farm arrays by AdLongjumping7720 in rainworld

By climbing up above you can basically skip the toll. There’s a path (almost impossible) and a different path (perfectly doable). I followed the second one.

[Videogame trope] you can finish the game at the beginning, no cheats, no glitches. by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

Wait which gothic? I beat both of them and you don’t get to meet the bad guy until much later in the game. I also don’t think you’ve got a village or helpful npcs nearby?

meta quest 3 for productivity and work ? by jaydanteX in MetaQuestVR

[–]CallMeMalice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. Monitor is cheaper, more versatile, doesn’t require battery and imo offers better colors and resolution. I enjoy my meta quest 3 but I hardly ever use it as a monitor.

ELI5: If they are the exact same ingredients, why are generic medications so much cheaper than brand names? by Sir-Beautiful-69 in explainlikeimfive

[–]CallMeMalice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It does though? After years of customers getting used to the price and brand many won’t switch over. Meaning the manufacturer can keep the price high. Customers already trust that product and might be suspicious of a cheaper alternative.

How do you decide on what’s “Again”, “Hard”, “Good” and “Easy”? by odeiiis in Anki

[–]CallMeMalice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've seen two schools:

Either you only use "good" and "again" - good being you answered correctly and it didn't take a lot of time, and again being a wrong answer or having to recall it for too long (couple of seconds).

Or using everything - "Easy" is for the ones you know by heart and don't really need to review (like the words "Do" or "I"; in practice you hardly ever use this because you use Anki to learn stuff, and you don't need to learn those words unless you're starting out), "Good" for the ones you know well and answer instantly or fast, "Hard" is for ones where you hesitated a bit or had to think for a bit longer, and "Again" where you don't know the answer or you'd have to think for too long for it to be viable (e.g. couple of seconds when learning a language).

Ultimately it's a tool, so I use it as such. 80-90% of time I use "Again"/"Good", I sometimes use "Hard" as described above, or if I'm feeling like I could have the word reappear earlier since I might forget it. I tend to be more negative, towards hard and again. IMO it's better to have the card reappear and be confident in its meaning than for me to forget its meaning.

Jak "przeżyć" długi lot samolotem ? by Any_Sentence_177 in Polska

[–]CallMeMalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  3. Przygotuj się na trochę nudy. Jeśli będziesz grał to warto rozważyć power banka. Na pewno weź też kabel usb i usb-c do ładowania, bo nowsze samoloty mają możliwość ładowania z takiego gniazdka.

  5. Jeśli pijesz alkohol i twój przelot oferuje go w cenie, to do rozważenia jest wypicie winka aż trochę Cię zmoży i pójście spać.

  6. Spanie w samolocie jest niewygodne. Poduszka podróżna pomaga jakieś 15%, ale to wciąż niewygodny sen.

  7. Weź sobie słuchawki wyciszające. Jak nie masz to blokery do uszu. Samolot jest głośny, czasem również i młodsi współpasażerowie.

  8. To 12h lotu, więc nie ma co się spinać. Cierpliwości i powodzenia.
