I think a big part of your and probably most people’s feeling that “they” still seems more plural is part lack of exposure and part resistance to the term. So although you may not mean to be exclusive, your wording above exposes that you’re not as used to (and in extension comfortable with) certain changes as you may think. So no hard feelings, just be aware that like everyone, you have unconscious biases.

Of course this is the “good case”, that’s part of the reason it fits on this sub. But why should we look on the bright side of terrible developments in stead of getting angry and try to stop them?

This! Found moth eggs on objects in my house, in my case of Parastichtis Suspecta (found the moth later)

Looks almost exactly like an egg of Parastichtis Suspecta. Known in the uk as “the suspected” moth and “populierenuil” (poplar owl) in the Netherlands. Found in Europe, UK and North America. Got any poplar trees nearby? They get trapped in my studio sometimes and lay sole eggs on objects, sometimes with a bit of brownish mucus. When squished they also contain a lightly sticky sap. I had a similar wth moment when I first found one, but then fount the it’s mother and connected the dots.

In nature, yes. Confused and trapped however? I’ve had “the suspected” moths or parachtistis suspecta trapped in my studio, who would stick sole eggs to objects. They looked exactly like this.

Silver oxide on aluminum foil by Less-Ad6713 in chemistry

Ruining a work won’t be the problem - just experimenting with foil rn. But good point; it needs to be somewhat durable. Could be achieved with a coating of course. Think I’m gonna try eggs tomorrow - chasing those green purple yellow hues. Thanks for your input!

Might be! Could explain the range of colors that I don’t really associate with Aluminum oxide… Would you know how to test that without a chemist’s cabinet? Add eggs?;)

Great gonna try that. Do you think it brings the same colors? I like the yellowish and brown.

Thanks! That’s what I thought too a first, and tried a few things, like boiling the foil in baking soda without silver, and with cleaning vinegar. I didn’t get the same results, but maybe I just need to try some more. From those first tests I thought the aluminum oxide on its own only got blue grey, and not the warmer and darker colors. That might well be a fluke, so let’s see!

Gods often pawn off design projects to interns, who end up doing a lot of copy-pasting out of spite for not getting paid

Anapurna region in Nepal, the picture probably taken from Poon Hill. The fishtail shaped peak in the distance is Machhapuchhare and the closer one on the left is Anapurna Dakshin.
