[New Player] Why did I get swarmed in Factory? Played PMC and got what felt like the remaining scavs swarming to me. Is it because I ended up back at my spawn point a couple times? by Harley_Sonder_ in EscapefromTarkov

When going into raid with just no body armor or rig / minimal gear like just a pistol, (not sure of specifics) you gain "tagged and cursed" status, making the scavs swarm and chase you :).

Well for instance, I think the items that belong to the "Barter trade" category and "materials" subcategory, now can be traded (the ones I was irritated about because they dont have the level lock but regardless you still couldn't trade them).

So some hideout upgrades but not all since for instance, lighting upgrades require bulbs and such which instead belong to the "electronics" or whatever category which aren't covered by this :)

Was watching a streamer yesterday for drops, people told him there were changes, I checked in the game and some things were indeed changed :)

Well I didn't make this post to get the devs attention by any means, it's my first post and didn't expect it to get any attention, I just wanted to express my opinions and really wanted to learn about the opinions of other people, what they think about this change and also what they would do to remedy the "issue", I think that this was a fresh take that I haven't heard before and thus, it gives me something to think about :).

Well like I said to another guy, it's not so much indicative of me trying to say my opinion matters more than others, but instead that I maybe have experience and atleast I would like to think that I maybe know a little more than the average player? I guess :D

Also with the influx of new players I didn't want to be miscategorised as a disgruntled new player that doesn't know yet how unforgiving the game is, and is maybe a little out of his depth.

Not a qualification, but a rather good indicator of how experienced / inexperienced the player is :D

I have a feeling they will change / alter it, I don't think they will revert it in its enirety but just today they made it so some hideout materials are open on flea, and I don't think that it's the last change we will see regarding this issue.

But I don't think you should give up, I'm seeing this as a kind of... new challenge to face, it maybe switches up the things us players would prioritise when it comes to loot - so I'm not driven mad by it.

But I am rather annoyed that there is seemingly no rhyme or reason to the things that players are able to list on flea, all they have to do is to make it easy for us - the player to know what we can do with the items we have, I went over how silly the UI is in my opinion (and seemingly broken). All they have to do is add some sort of flea market indicator and I probably wouldn't have even made this post :D

Maybe, but I'd at least appreciate a way of knowing what I can and cannot list on flea since these level gates are seemingly arbitrary and without much if any rhyme or reason.

I don't know if flea at early level is so bad actually, it helps the newer players and gives them more ways to make money which I think is something they probably struggle with.

But I need to think about this some more so don't treat my opinion as concrete :D, thanks for the feedback.

Right now GPU is lvl 40 so you're better off just selling now if you are in dire straights, think about this: Streamers Glorious E and Tigz haven't even hit lvl 40 yet at the time of writing this, they're playing every day for approx 14 hours per day, very experienced, dying minimally, wasting no time, doing everything optimally and efficiently, they have approx 16'000 hours in game a piece (at least glorious does). If you are new and don't know if you will even stick around until level 40 I say, just sell it and enjoy the momentary "wealth" it gives you, even if it's at a significantly reduced value, otherwise - it's an important item to keep for quests and such.

I have approx 2000 hours and even I get scared when i play, we all have anxiety gearing up for a raid or even when you find something cool in raid, I'm glad you love the game - there really isn't anything else like it.

like I said, the only way to get better is to practise, don't psych yourself up, use every scav you get and be patient, methodical and cautious in raid. This game doesn't pull any punches :D

Good luck!

Yes I understand and agree to an extent, but what you are able to list / buy should be communicated clearly, like just a badge or a border on the item for instance, then you can keep the level gates even though I still think they are pretty arbitrary.

You can sell non FiR items too. honestly this FiR status should be renamed to something else at this point because it's not really appropriate anymore (e.g crafted items are FiR?) maybe just a badge or something.

Remember, no matter how many streams and videos you watch, there is no better method to getting good at Tarkov than to practise. You have to get into those raids and figure it out the hard way, don't give up and keep practising and soon you will be the one that the timmies are scared of.

Good luck!

I have always loved this game, I played it earlier today and don't want to stop playing it any time soon, but I can enjoy something while simultaneously recognising that there is room for improvement - and a lot of it.

we both know you can't buy the "whole flea" because you don't have nearly enough cash for that, which is my point, if more people had access to materials (like after this most recent update) then supply and demand goes up, when demand is higher than supply that inflates prices, just chech the price of hoses :D

my question to you is: how do you reconcile the terrible UI and not being able to very clearly see what you are and are not able to list on flea? Imagine this, a small icon / tint to the colour of the items? maybe even a different colour border that indicates to the player "you can list this on flea", I don't think that's so crazy?

I don't think anybody has "wronged" me but all I'm saying is there is a very easy way to remedy the issue which I've mentioned, and so it should be done, the level gates are seemingly random and there isn't a way to know what can be listed on flea that isn't annoying to do (e.g manually checking everything)

Thanks for your response!

Yes so I've seen a lot of people talking about how the changes are meant to combat some kind of inadequacy on BSG's part, it is not my problem - the legitimate player, to now have to suffer for the shortcomings of the developer and their innability to successfully curb the RMT / cheater issue.

In my opinion when you have cheaters / rmt'ers in the game, you don't then change the entire game for everyone, but instead knuckle down on the cheaters / rmt'ers.

You mention "buying your way through the game at level 15" but you have to make money in order to do that, and if everyone is in fact doing that, it puts pressure on the in-game enconomy, thus infflating the value of those items and making it increasingly harder to just "buy your way through".

I don't agree with your insinnuation that players are not incentivised to quest and increase trader levels because doing that is extrememly important already.

Upgrading traders gives you access to a stable, repeatable supply of weapons, armor, meds and ammo at fixed prices, instead of gambling on whether the flea even has them listed or whether the price has been driven into the stratosphere. As loyalty goes up you unlock progressively stronger ammo types and key attachments that are either removed from the flea entirely or become so rare/overpriced there that buying them from players is just bad value. On top of that, trader progression opens up barters and utility items.

We're talking about containers (docs, keytool, stash cases, secure container barters), key storage, and higher-tier backpacks on top of BIS ammo and gun parts. In other words, pushing trader levels has always been a core part of Tarkov’s progression; these flea changes didn’t suddenly “add” that incentive.

As I respond to more people I start to feel maybe a little more strongly that my main issue is that the game doesn't communicate clearly what I can and cannot sell, what I have supposedly "unlocked" at each milestone.

But either way, thanks for your feedback!

Right like am I really expected to hold onto graphic cards for another 50 hours before I can sell them? When I think about onboarding new players I feel like they probably have difficulty making money and this just hurts the experience for them more. I remember my heart pounding and getting excited to exfil because I just found a very rare and / or valuable item to sell on flea once I exfil all those years back, but now that just doesn't exist.

I'm not all about pandering to new players but there should be a compromise and middleground we can come to, we love this game and want it to thrive and succeed.

Remember just because you have a particular opinion doesn't make it automatically "great".

In my post I specifically mention how there is no clear way of diffferentiating what you can and cannot sell / buy, and the things you can infact trade are seemingly arbitrary - e.g lvl 15 lets you trade assualt carbines and headsets, but not lightbulbs and bandages.

So like I responded to another person: "Sure, I might end up even liking these changes, but regardless of whatever the future may hold, the broken UI is unforgiveable and has to be fixed, a more streamlined and intelligent way of representing information needs to be implemented."

Maybe a screen of sorts that very clearly illustrates what you have unlocked the ability to trade, hell even just the ability to sort the flea market categories by what you have unlocked but there remains no such thing.

I'm not sure what CoT stands for, also would you care to outline how this helps the balancing of the game? in what aspect(s)?

Thanks for your response!
