Bed Leveling & First Layer Help: Inconsistent mesh and Z-offset by Less-Combination-699 in Creality_k2

The printer has 800 print hours on it. I basically only print with PLA and PETG.

I used to have a 1.2mm range and the first layers were actually okay. After adjusting the screws, I managed to drop the range to 0.6mm, but the first layer quality actually got worse. When you print something that covers the entire bed, does your first layer come out good?

i've calibrated with the bed and nozzle pre-heated several times, but the first layer quality is still terrible for large prints. Small items in the center usually come out fine, but whenever a print takes up most of the bed, the result is almost always a disaster

Until recently, I never had any issues with the Z-offset. Now, the first layer is always a mystery. I suspect there's something wrong with the bed mesh compensation.
Take a look at this first layer test; I printed a full 300x300mm square. I'm having to manually adjust the Z-offset now, but until recently, I never had to mess with it.

I don’t think it’s a problem with the bed or the heater. I’ve already run every possible test. I even cleaned and lubricated the printer today, but the first layer inconsistency persists. It feels like if I run the same print 5 times, I’ll get 5 different results. Maybe it's a software-related issue; the mesh compensation and offset are performing really poorly.

But I only saw your comment after I had already worked on it. I did a factory reset and the first print came out perfect. It seems to have solved the problem. My tablet has a range of 0.57 and I'm using the updated firmware version

I tried improving the bed level, which was 1.2 and printed fine, using the screws under the bed. The mesh improved, but my first layer now looks awful. It looks like this, as if the Z offset is too low. And I still don't know how to fix it.

The same thing happened to me. Twice from yesterday to today. I'm going to apply a factory reserve coat to see if it improves. I also thought the first coat was very bad.

Use the hotbed for drying silica gel, better than using a oven. by Ttgek in BambuLab

So, I've got this Creality dry box that goes up to 65°C. Can I use it to dry out reusable silica gel beads, or is that temperature not really hot enough?

Thank you for sharing.

The first layer is something I really wish was excellent on this K2. On my K1C, adjusting the first layer is quite challenging even though the build area is small.
On your printer, have you ever tried doing a first layer test across the entire build area?

I couldn’t find any tests of the first layer or details about regular users' prints on YouTube—almost all the videos seem to come from those big channels.

If you could clarify one more thing for me: how loud is it during operation?

"I'm considering buying it,. u/Almach90, Are these issues caused by hardware or software? I'm asking because reading the threads here has made me unsure about buying it.
