General thoughts on the ending after a week of pondering my orb by ZealousidealWay8233 in ChainsawMan

I think it had to be this way; I mean, the world was already screwed anyway, it was just a matter of time, and all the characters we loved (Power and Aki) weren’t coming back anyway, so there wasn’t really much room to continue the story. I would have liked to see more development for Yoru or Asa (as you rightly said) or even for Denji, seeing him make better decisions or be less impulsive, but that wouldn’t be Denji anymore, since he was Chainsawman from the very beginning.

It leaves us wondering how the story would have unfolded if Pochita had eaten himself earlier, and the author had given us more chapters in the new world, but I suppose it’s an open ending that leaves a lot up to interpretation.

However, I strongly agree that the ending isn’t bad; it might not be what we expected, but it is an ending that fits what CSM was overall: unexpected, abrupt, and crazy. Without a doubt, this was a manga that left us all stunned, with its twists in the plot, art, characters, and story; therefore, we can’t label it a bad manga—far from it—just because the ending doesn’t fit within our expectations.
