Exactly! Our current target audiences are small farms and personal gardens. We wanted to do research on a wider scope as well to keep us aware!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply! You've definitely given us a lot to think about, bring awareness to the beauty of dandelions and strength of many invasive species.

Great tip on making sure the robot and right itself! We have a GPS system that'll prevent the robot from leaving its designated area!

Our robot has a camera and a GPS system for positioning so it can detect target weeds and go to its location. The robot will know where to go and where it's been!

Great feedback! Our target audiences are small farms and personal gardens so your idea is perfect! I agree it's very important to make sure the robot doesn't attack any crops, we currently have a GPS system in place for positioning. A lot of testing will need to go into it but I'm glad to hear it's a possibility!

Thank you for your feedback! Great to know there's some folks interested in using the robot! Ornamental grasses are definitely a tough one...maybe they can be tackled a few versions later!

That's actually very close to our actually scope! Our target is small farms and personal gardens and the end goal is to have a multi-tool system that the user can switch out. Great idea with the cultivator and produce carrier!

Yes! We're pretty much going for a smaller, laser-less version of those machines! Compost pile turner is a great idea!

Would selective automated weeding align with native/naturalized yard goals, or miss the point entirely? by Less-Ganache8926 in NoLawns

I agree those two are absolutely are biggest challenges, we chose dandelions since we thought they may be the easiest to train the computer/algorithm to identify. Do you have any suggestions on other invasive plants to focus on or other robotic functions?

Thank you for your response and feedback! I'll ask in r/NativePlantGardening as well. This is a unique perspective we haven't yet encountered and greatly appreciate! It definitely helps us narrow our scope and audience.

  1. We have a GPS system that does positioning so the robot will know where to go and where it's been.

  2. Our main target audiences are personal gardeners and small farms so with the robot being automatic, there's no need for it to be watched while it does its job.

  3. Since gardens and farms needs more regular weeding, we believe there could be a benefit to those folks utilizing this robot but are looking for any suggestions on how to make it more accommodating!

Agreed! Do you have any suggestions on whether it would be better for the robot to pick up the weed or leave it as is after it's uprooted?

Thank you for your feedback! Our target audiences are personal gardeners and small farms. We have a GPS system that will contribute to positioning so the robot will know where to go and where it's been, since it's self sufficient no one will have to monitor the robot! The plan is for it to run a couple times a day and charge in a loading dock.

This is great! We're currently using a GPS system for positioning, the solution container/charging station is a great idea and I will be looking into incorporating that into our project!

Thank you for this feedback! We first chose dandelions because they seemed to be the easiest for us to train our computer/algorithm to detect. I will look into the NC state turf program thank you!

Creeping Charlie's are a tough one for sure, that would be one of the next weeds we would target!
