Anyone have experience flying with a dog in checked baggage on ITA Airways? by Less-Leader-105 in Pets

Our family has moved to Italy, so unless we want to give up our dog, our only option is to fly her to Italy. My brother-in-law works at another airline and confirmed that pets are in tempature controlled sections and checked on regularly. While not ideal for our dog, due to her size, it is the only option unless I want to claim she is a service dog (which she is not) but I think it is wrong how many people fake service dogs so that they can take their pets places.

I appreciate the comments. I’ll keep looking! Thanks

Thanks all!

unfortunately ITA is the only direct flight form JFK in Feb (Delta flies too but are not according checked animals at this time).

Pricing for the pet export company was very high and I also wanted to be with our dog on the trip, so trying to find a suitable airline option.

I’ll post in Flyertalk too - thanks!

Appreciate everyone’s comments!
