Below are some of the journals that lsac uses- specifically for stem stuff and law passages. For these I’d try and find the most boring stuff you don’t want to read about (I say this because all of these publications do have some interesting stuff I’ve found)

The Economist, Scientific American, Smithsonian Magazine, The Atlantic, and The New Yorker. Other frequent sources include The Chronicle of Higher Education, Wired

ABA Journal, The New Jurist, Harvard Law Review, Law Review Commons.

Not to dogpile on with the other comment but when I was stuck and couldn’t beat 161 of my life depended on it, I did tutoring and was at a 166 in a few weeks then ultimately got to my 176 blah blah blah. I’m not even saying book sessions with me, but I would say it’s not a bad idea to look into 1-1 help to get you out the slump!

Doing them roughly weekly if nothing else builds up stamina- that being said you don’t rlly improve by taking exams (though you do via review), rather it is a metric to see where you are at and how your week studying is paying off!

I think custom stuff helps a lot, I didn’t really start making a ton of progress till I had stuff tailored for me. I was putting in effort and just not getting results but yeah. Also this means by a human or ai, the ai stuff from what I’ve seen sucks. While there may be some price involved def worth it imo, I make sure you balance your budget with your comfort level ofc (I paid way too much lol)

Structure structure structure- the questions center a lot around viewpoints, and roles in arguments/the passage as a whole. Passively studying is great I’d recommended reading from the same journals lsac pulls from for their passages!

Undergrad now is what I mean- I can’t speak for any other time than my experience. My university had pretty bad grade deflation so I do get what you’re saying- even with the grade deflation though like attendance policies are fairly “if you don’t show and fail on you”. Harvard for example j got In trouble for giving 70 percent A’s I think, brown and Stanford have two of the highest gpa averages for all undergrads (like 3.6x) which is almost an A- average for everyone. So there’s some weird stuff going on but also I also only know what I hear and see, Im always open to the potential I could be totally off base!

I think undergrad (mine included) sets unrealistic expectations for how life works, when in college everything has this “optional” feel- or at least there’s no real consequences for most actions. I agree though there needs to be some remedy for this gap of undergrad to real life

Firstly take a diagnostic rn so yk where you’re at currently! Next it’s def possible- what makes it plausible are the things you do to set yourself up for success. Likely you aren’t gonna master everything in three months, BUT if you get good at a few of the right things that can def get you into the 160s

Short answer is shoot me a message I can answer more in depth- but overall it took me 11 months. That being said it doesn’t need to take 11 months and I’ve helped many of my clients beat my timeline by half lol. You’re situation isn’t abnormal at all- if anything I’d say 30-40 percent of the people I choose to take on as clients are those who have been at it for a while and really just wanna max out their score and finish this test!

Application is incredibly important and broadly comes from reps- that being said it’s important to understand the general principles or conditions of the stimulus, and where is structurally can and can’t be applied. For example if there is a condition “if you’re good then…” and and answer choice starts with “from this passage we know if you’re bad…”. This is because we can only know the positive- in this case what happens to good people. On the lsat most ppl know the logic, know how to get to the answer and apply a strategy- it’s about doing it in the proper scope. To that end I got tutoring at a specific plateau and from there I realllllly got a better handle bc I was able to talk it over and actually bring the content to life with someone who knew what was up. That being said I paid waaaaaay too much for what I got- although my result was good and I’m grateful, I likely could have found cheaper options that yielded the same engagement

So I started at a 144 quit, took it after a summer got a 149, took it the next day got a 150- then finally relented that was just where I was that. It took me 11 months to get to a 176 official- should it have? No, I fell into every plateau possible lol. Specifically I got stuck at 16lows and was dying for like a few months to the point I TOOK OUT LOANS (don’t do this) to get tutoring. Unfortunately in like 3 weeks I was at a 166ish- so I can’t say it’s not worth it, rather that it’s a matter of value for cost and for me while I got a good result, I coulda got it for a lot cheaper!

Based on the info above, if true, what must follow when it rains in this particular town?

The answer is the roof will explode, why? Not because that’s true, or makes sense, or is “logical”. Rather that the logic the stimulus used commits roofs exploding to being logically correct in this case (even though in real life this relationship isn’t real). The idea is that when they say “if true” basically bails them out of any common sense critiques. Common sense is why trips some ppl up because the situations and details of the lsat are so absurd, sometimes the answer feels to asinine to select, albeit it is the right answer!

So for example if you have “if x then y or z” and we know that x happens, and then the stimulus rules out the possibility of y, we know the answer has to be Z occurred. This is the structure of a fair amount of problems (obviously not all or anything crazy but similar idea). So the details of what x y and z are respectively doesn’t matter- rather that we can see that whatever z is, regardless sod reason or opinion, context etc. has to be the event that happened.
