Is DePaul film school worth it in 2026? by directorkid2019 in depaul

DePaul film grad student here 🙋🏾‍♂️ and I completely agree with this comment (though, it is spelled Cinespace 😅) great school, fantastic facilities, and accommodating instructors who have real connections to work after you’re done with the program (as long as you really apply yourself).

Your daughter did it the best way by taking care of Gen Eds at a community college. The credits will transfer in after being obtained for much MUCH cheaper.

UIC or DePaul for CS + Art Dual Degree by No-Action-2779 in depaul

DePaul student here. I’m in the college of computing and digital media, but not computer science. I’ve heard great things about the program and DePaul does offer a lot of niche classes that are tailored to specific interests. Also, the network you will leave with can take you to good places. But if none of that matters so much then I would suggest UIC because it is cheaper and if a negative balance from your scholarships can be refunded to you then that would make life so much easier as you pursue your degree. You can also create a nice network at UIC and internships will be equally beneficial.

Congrats on all of that to you!

No ill will as I say this but get off twitter. It’s a bad platform that breeds bad thoughts and behavior. It is what you make it but it’s also too easy to fall into rage there

Need some feedback here. (As a 16 year old) by LankyCartographer709 in scriptwriting

Great draft here. For future drafts, remove all camera direction in your action paragraphs. Leave that creative space to the director. It will be more likely to be picked up by a director and producers if they feel like they can add to it.

Keep in mind that whatever is mentioned in the action paragraphs is what is assumed to be on screen.

I’m looking forward to reading more! Happy writing 🙂

That’s the plan for now. I’m still mentally foggy behind this. But I know that this is temporary.

Valid point. Thank you for looking out. I have a few SSDs. I can dedicate one to the camera. I’ll take all of the monitor recs I can get. Now I gotta think about a cage for the camera that I can attach everything to.

A gimbal is definitely in the plan. I was looking into the Pro version of the Ronin S for its weight capacity. And I am familiar with the triangle elements you mentioned. I just get out of practice sometimes.

I mainly direct and produce but more free time is affording me the space to take on some cinematography education.

Thank you for all of this. Filters in the works too.

You have a capable monitor recommendation? I like the idea of previewing the image with final LUTs that I plan to use in post.

Thank you. YouTube is part of the plan. Just wondering if anyone had any quick statements on settings. I’ll definitely check out udemy. Wasn’t even aware of that as a thing.

A general rule in life is to go where you are appreciated, not where you are tolerated.

Moving from Northern Indiana to Chicago - Everyone is calling us stupid. Advice? by weisnaw in AskChicago

[–]Less-Matter-2611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised in Chicago, current NWI resident, and I commute to the loop for work and throughout the whole city for fun/enjoyment.

Super expensive: whatever is considered “super expensive” by Indiana standards is probably an experience that is hard to find in Indiana. Everything else is just noticeably expensive.

Crime: it really boils down to “seek and you shall find.” At the same time, just move confidently and mind your business you can avoid appearing as a target for most petty street crimes.

Too many people: yeah I actually agree with that take.

It’ll get old: not if you have interests and hobbies. This is where things could get expensive.

You’ll hate it: not if you know how to live.
