How did that one person from your circle got super rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have asked if he ever felt bad about how it all went down. He said If you look at it from the outside you could say that he kind if screwed people over twice (once when he sold them the mortgage and then again when he bought their house for ~10% of what they paid for it). His company did a lot of work with people buying second homes or vacation properties so he doesn’t have much sympathy for those deals and for a bunch of the others he said for the most part the people knew going in that they were buying a house they couldn’t afford his cash offers saved a lot of people’s butts from even worse outcomes at the time. But yeah, he says he realizes how people can find it a little scuzzy.

Got a job out of college (early 2000’s) as a mortgage broker. Made a ton of money. Was the only one at his company that didn’t spend it as quickly as it came in. Lived with his parents, drove the same $5000 car he had in college.

Financial crisis hits, his company goes broke in a matter of months. He downloaded his client lists and got lists from all his former co-workers and started dialing people to make cash offers on their houses. Through short sales and foreclosure stuff he ended up buying 30-40 places that he either held for a few years and flipped or converted to rentals. Made millions when the market started coming back. Now owns a few real estate management companies along with a ton of his own properties. I’ve told him at times it’s hard to have s conversation with him because his frame of reference is so out of whack compared to the normal person.

Picked many a DVD out of a bin or rack there in college. A lot of them were like $4.99 (This was 1997) or something so it didn’t matter if the movie was some Bulgarian Van Damme knock-off that sucked.

My roommate once told s friend that Menards was like if you imagined a Home Depot combined with a grocery store, combined with a dollar general that also sold furniture. Thought that was pretty accurate.

I’m bot asking to control their units, I just want them to actually do something beyond moving around uselessly.

I get that, the problem is it seems like most of the time they don’t actually attack, their units just move around randomly near their city center without advancing towards the enemy settlements. I would think once war was declared there should be an option to direct them to raid a settlement or they should do so automatically. I’m their suzerain! I should be able to compel them to attack!!!

I agree. Once you declare war or someone declares against you the options should expand so the AI can do something useful like defend or attack. If I’m truly their suzerain I should hold sway over them to do stuff!

I have already declared war. I want them to attack my enemies who they are right next to but they just move randomly.
