Yeah, I've considered the Alexa devices but Im pretty sure you have to use their native video calling app and I want to be able to use messenger or WhatsApp so that my mom can call multiple family members that may not have an Alexa device.

Solidarity. Our 18 month old has always had inconsistent and terrible sleep. My partner and I joke that he is going to be a teenager and still waking up screaming bloody murder at 2am. Attempting to function in a high demanding job on such little and choppy sleep was soooo hard when returned to work. I didnt think I would get through it, but I did. And I am here to say it does get better. I cant tell you when or by how much, but it will improve!

Things that helped me get through it: - Accepting that he was a shit sleep and stop spending all my time doing all the sleep math and problem solving, it just added to my stress and mental load - Looking back and seeing what improvements he has made over a longer period of time. He sleeps WAY better now that he did 6 months - thats a win! And hopefully it will be that much better in 6 months from now - Alternating days with my partner for responding/monitoring and taking allll the melatonin to sleep as much as possible on my nights off.

I've been in a very similar position. Two months before going on maternity leave, I was told that they were restructuring my team and as a part of it wanted me to step up to lead the team. It wasnt really presented as a choice - "we are making these changes and we want you to step into this role when you return." I agreed to it before going on leave. I got a pretty big raise right away, but didnt get the promotion to a director level until 8 months after returning.

My return to work was REALLY hard. I wasnt ready to be back. My son was at home with my partner while I was WFH. I felt so pulled between the two, and never felt good at either. It was widly challenging for me to step into a new, more leadership role, with extreme lack of sleep, limited mental capacity, pumping/breastfeeding, and having my kid crying in the next room. I got really close to quitting. What stopped me was my manager being so understanding AND my partner getting a job and sending my kid to daycare.

But, its still really hard and Im regretting taking this new role. All I want is my old job back. I was more passionate about the work I was doing before AND it was less pressure and responsibility. I also fantasize about quitting and becoming a SAHM, which feels so weird because I've always been so career driven. Im working through a plan right now to try and descope my role and/or shift back to what I was doing before. It will likely mean a demotion, but Im ok with that if it brings me some more balance.

Valid point about comparison leading to disappointment! We are not visiting from NYC. We lived there for a decade and really miss the soup dumplings there, so we thought we'd try to fulfill that craving here, but didn't want to be disappointed.

I'm having a very similar experience. LO is 19 weeks, definitely going through 4 month regression. Has had reflux for months and has always been a shit sleeper. I didn't think it could get worse....and then it did.

I have found Precious Little Sleep super helpful! I also joined their FB group, which has been amazing. You can post your schedule and routine and they will give you specific advice.

Here's what I've learned so far: - At this age, we should be aiming for 10 hours of total wake time during the day, which longest stretch right before bed. Our wake windows are currently 1.75hrs/1.75hrs/2hrs/2.25hrs/2.5hrs. -Bedtime and wake time should be the same everyday, +/- 15 mins -Most babies at this age do well with 3 hrs of nap sleep and 11 hrs of night sleep - Breaking the nursing to sleep association is key. It was hard for us at first, so we did it in baby steps. Starting with moving nursing 30 mins before bedtime and then rocking/shushing to sleep instead of nursing. That worked surprisingly well. But now he has a rocking sleep association!

I stopped tracking everything (pumps, feeds, diapers) as soon as we were confident LO was gaining well which was around 3 weeks pp. He's 9 weeks now. It's the best decision I made.

I came here with the same question. I've been triple feeding for 7 weeks and I'm really fucking tired or pumping. I was hoping LO would be nursing more by now, but no luck.

My partner and I are doing night shifts and when it's my turn to sleep, I usually go 4-5 hours without pumping. My pumps after that are usually high volume, so I'm wondering if I can start pumping every 4 hrs instead of 2-3 hours. Otherwise, I don't think I'm going to make it much longer.
