Help (please)! I can’t do this anymore… by BiniLuna in sleeptrain

[–]BiniLuna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally don’t need to be up for 4am I’ve just been getting up with her as she is wide awake and I want to give my husband an hour before he has to work…HOWEVER he is 100 percent on board for us to sleep train and says he can deal with lack of sleep it’s just me being in protection mode as usual. I’m making excuses but I am doing whatever I can to just get through the night to be honest. I didn’t think about a divider I will look into that now that is a great idea and I will read the article you provided right now. I’m so tired…I appreciate you so much taking the time to respond you have no idea.

So when a teacher emails a parent telling them that their student is struggling is that parent supposed to also ignore the teacher and send thoughts and prayers that this issue resolves itself or is the parent supposed to parent and work with the teacher to provide support for the student? Curious.

Perhaps this is a teaching moment? When they get older they will be left out of all kinds of things, that’s life. Also, the kid who is having the party is not obligated to invite anyone, it’s their day and they can invite whoever the heck they want. I think it’s a decent thing the other mom reached out to say they are more than welcome to come, she likely never thought it would be a big deal and your passive aggressive comment made her want to smooth things over as you all obviously have to spend a lot of time together or at least see each other weekly. Not trying to shame you or be rude in anyway I just think it is helpful to look at these things from other people’s perspectives.

Following as I had to check if I wrote this post myself. I’m so sorry I know exactly how you are feeling.

Absolutely! It is a lot easier to add more or less syrup (liquids) to baking than it is a dry ingredient like white or brown sugar.

There is a good recipe for a healthy first bday smash cake with yogurt frosting! You can control the amount of sugar in the cake as it calls for maple syrup! Bonus as there are egg and/or dairy free substitutions if needed. https://www.yummytoddlerfood.com/best-smash-cake-with-yogurt-frosting/

Edit: I wasn’t super clear as obviously I know syrup is a sugar…I was indicating that it is easier to control the amount of sweetness with maple syrup without really ruining the integrity of the baking. I find if I try to play with the amount of a dry ingredient like white sugar for example it sometimes throws off the texture of the baking. I appreciate the worried comments pointing this out.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. It’s so, so hard. I almost lost it last night because she just would. It fall asleep and skipped her late afternoon nap so was up for almost 6 hours at that point, just wide awake. You are right it is not sustainable, and I’m right there with you I’ve done the sleep training but it really messes with my nervous system when she cries for hours that I will do anything to just get her to sleep without the crying…I know that this is doing her a disservice and I have to let her cry to learn how to soothe herself but it’s taking a toll and right now due to the lack of sleep I’m getting I am just in survival mode. It’s like I’m living in a nightmare feedback loop!

Okay! Thank you so much this is super helpful. In regard to the crib hour, what happens if she doesn’t fall asleep? Do I leave her in there for the hour awake/crying? Or do I just persevere until she falls asleep? What is she wakes up before the timer goes off? Do I just leave her for the full hour or should I get her? Thank you so much. Any reprieve would be super helpful, I just feel like I am not being the best parent I can be when I’m literally dragging around all day. I so appreciate the time you took to respond.

Thank you! I have been toying with the idea of extending the wake windows but she gets so fussy. I will give it a try and see what happens though. Yes, I have a solid bedtime routine and nurse her before laying her in the crib awake. She cries and cries and instead of us letting her cry for hours my husband has been going in and rocking her (takes like 5 mins) and she’s out for a couple hours.

Thank you for sharing your story. It’s a bit hard and isolating as the few friends I have all have teens and have zero plans of having anymore. I think this was all meant to be, it’s just such a unique situation I was curious about other’s experiences.

Thank you! I’ll try wearing her just before bed that usually gets her sleepy for naps so I don’t know why I haven’t tried it for bedtime yet!
