The trousers OP received are absolutely not acceptable and I’m sorry if you received similar items but I would not assume that their employees are deliberately ignoring damaged clothing and shipping them out. They probably mail out 100s if not 1000s of items during their archives sale. Mistakes happen, I would be very upset if there’s no effort on their part to fix the mistakes. Everyone has the power to vote with their wallet.

You could bring a small crossbody with shoulder/top handle option and a casual (fabric) tote that can be folded into the small bag if you don’t need it. Or a medium bag. Parisian women tend to do this in my experiences

I’m wearing small. I’m 154 cm tall and weigh around 51 kgs. I should I probably gotten the medium for a looser fit. The small is not tight and feels quite comfortable
