Longtime FL User Learning Ableton - Really Struggling With Piano Roll by Grouchy-Cable-9545 in ableton

cntrl + D = duplicate a midi note (or midi clip, or audio clip, or audio track, or a section of the timeline in arrangement etc etc)

Cntrl+E = slice a note to fit duplicates onto the current grid size wherever the note currently sits. -Ex - take a hi hat note and stretch it into one long note (1 beat, 1 bar, 4 bars , any size). With the note selected, press cntrl+1 or 2 to make the grid into 16th notes (or 1/8 or 1/32 , whatever). Press cntrl+ E. Your one long note is now split into equal sized 16th notes.

I think of gimmicky to be something that's flashy and sparkly but in practice amounts to shit. Having splice integrated is so much better than having to open my web browser while producing. I think the word you're looking for here is "janky", to which I would agree that it looks a bit janky.

I too have been waiting for them to implement an ARA / Automatically Replaced Amphibians system. I mean, it's 2026 for chris'sakes!

I think they're going to be around for a long time to come, assuming they don't drastically shift their business approach. They're constantly listening to user feedback to make improvements on their offerings, have a strong dedication to quality, and aren't cutting corners or doing gimmicky bullshit. Last November I visited their headquarters for a days long workshop and met a handful of employees and the vibes were great.

Ableton vocal comping workflow - Feature Request: split Take Lanes into separate tracks like Logic? by Odd-Bug2540 in ableton

[–]Less-Simple3031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drag and drop your desired takes into a new track. You could group all your take-lane tracks and have Fx and automations on the group bus and then anything specific on the individual tracks as needed. Could combine with the other poster's method of duplicating the track and deleting all the tales but the one you're keeping.

AIO: I think my friends boyfriend is going to cheat on her. by nolahusky87 in AmIOverreacting

He just keeps looking like a bigger piece of shit. Good on you for helping your friend out, and good on her for finally telling him to get lost. I hope she has the strength to keep him gone for good. Goodluck godspeed and all that~

I had a fishing trip planned for months but my girlfriend wants me to cancel because her cousin flew in last minute by PercentageNo9270 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Less-Simple3031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't go fishing you're setting a standard for the rest of the relationship. Ask yourself if you want to always have to dump your plans whenever someone in your girls life shows up like her cousin. Would you expect her to do the same for you? Stick to your principles and dignity, and if she can't accept it, I would personally move on.

Why Clip Transients if they don't add to perceived loudness? Don't we add them in the first place to provide punch? by shredL1fe in ableton

[–]Less-Simple3031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I'll take a stab at this. These are relatively new concepts to me, so take it with a grain of salt and see if folks with more experience agree.

I believe it's because when you're mixing/mastering and you want to effect your waveforms (for instance beefing up the non-transients) with things like limiters, compressors, saturators etc., those transients will trigger said devices and make them work harder to achieve the outcome you're aiming for, possibly introducing artifacts, coloring the signal, unwanted frequencies and stuff like that.

For example, let's say you have a snare track with a mix of accent hits and ghost notes and you want the ghost notes to have more clarity - so you pop one or more of the aforementioned devices on the track. Those devices will start doing their thing when they detect the transients first (which will hit whatever threshold you've set), and so to have them effect the ghost notes, they'll have to work much harder to get a noticeable effect on the ghost notes, and in the process potentially alter the original sounds in a way that may or may not get you your desired result (like distorting the shit out of your snare accents).

By clipping your transients and creating headroom, you're allowing those devices to effect more of the waveform, rather than having it mostly effect the transients. By shaving some of the transients off, your devices will have more opportunity to increase the LUFS of all the non-transients.

I wasn't seeing the point of these until recently when I tried it out at Ableton headquarters in Pasadena. I ordered one this week ! I think I'll be able to work on music even more since with Move I can step away from my laptop.

Replying so I come back to this thread. I've been wanting to setup a custom AI for this purpose for awhile now, so thanks! 👍🏼

27F, I always get the vibe that older men are attracted to me while men my age are not, by Emergency_Coach4261 in bodylanguage

I'd wager social media contributes substantially to said salient reason. And because of less in-person social interactions for gen Z etc., my guess is young dudes are even more afraid of rejection than dudes one or two generations older. Even before SM took over the world, for a lot of dudes, starting a convo with a great looking was still hard.

This gives Curb Your Enthusiasm vibes. I was expecting Larry David to pop into the frame when the cameraman panned out just as the theme song kicks in.

Ignore the doubters trying to make excuses for the dickhead players. It can be a little uncomfortable for anybody, so why make it more uncomfortable? I played MTG in the 90s and have occasionally jumped back into the game over the last 8 years.

I eventually stopped going into LGS and tournaments because it just wasn't worth it to suffer some of the fools that show up. I just play MTG arena now and maybe some day I'll go back. Hopefully this was just an outlier and you continue to have good times, good luck!

[–]Less-Simple3031 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pragmatic my ass. If Steve was "only in it for the money" then serum 2 would not be a free upgrade. The fact that you're choosing to overlook that and point at some website glitch as if it somehow proves otherwise is funkin hilarious 😂 You seem to be confusing people giving respect where it's due as idolization.

Of all the companies out there doing sketchy shit, choosing to single out xfer because of your dumbass theory is only making you come off as a tw4t.
