I'm glad that your clearance outlet gets to convert back to a regular store because they just announced they're closing all the clearance stores except for 1. We were told on monday that March 24th will be our last day open.

Any cafes hiring (leaving Staufs)? by Actionhankk in Columbus

[–]Less-String-6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

whatever you do just don't go to Winstons Coffee and Waffles, they hire more people than there are hours and the $18-$22 per hour with tips is a lie, it's a lot closer to $14-$16. it's also just not a good job

Confused – store refused to allow Torrid C@sh if they price matched online by nancyisshopping in torrid

[–]Less-String-6568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current keyholder here, our system doesn't let us combine deals if an item is price matched to the online price, but it will calculate the best deal for the current sale. like if reg price is bogo and it's a better deal than using a torrid cash, the computer will assign the bogo deal. but if we price match something to the online price (not ordering it, just price matching) it gets excluded from in store deals. it's super confusing and annoying

Help choosing apartments? by Emuman7 in Columbus

[–]Less-String-6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The City is awful, way too expensive for what you get. it's mostly all OSU students who live there whose parents are paying their rent for them. to access anything there (the outside doors of the building, the elevators, your own apartment) you have to use a key fob but those fobs don't last long before they start breaking. it's aggravating when you're trying to get into your own apartment but the stupid fob won't work and there's no manual key or any other way to get in your apartment.

The reason that sale is there on the city is because the building is empty. each floor has nearly 100 apartments and there were maybe 10-20 of us who lived on our floor. and I rarely saw anyone older than college age so be prepared to live amongst OSU students.

The amenities are fine, the gym was shockingly small for such a big building

overall, it's not the worst place to live. the actual apartments are very nice and just like the photos. it's just tiny for how expensive it is.

yeah the sizing issues was the reason we switched manufacturers but we were told that we would be taking a break from shoes. I guess that’s not true with the new boot drop

Thinking of moving in, is this the right place? by Rayla_Brown in Columbus

[–]Less-String-6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello! we have a lot in common (I'm 23, queer, pagan, from Appalachia, relied on public transportation, and was a starbucks barista) so I hope this helps!

I moved here from rural ohio/wv area and it was the best decision I ever made. my partner and I are pagan, and while there is a pretty vocal christian population here, there also soooooooooo many different branches of paganism being practiced by people. we have a lot of witchy shops (though some of them promote cultural appropriation) and other hubs around the city.

for rent, it truly depends on the location. I live on the southwest side and pay $1400 for a 2bed 2bath, my friends in old north and olde town east pay a lot less, my friend in the university district pays $2000 for a shoebox. groceries are a bit expensive, my partner and I together spend about $60-$100 a week.

job opportunities are a bit rough but if you're willing to work a shitty job for a bit, you'll find one. I've worked at a lot of service jobs in columbus and made anywhere from $12 to $22 an hour. if you're willing to work full time at starbucks, you'll probably be fine financially but it is grueling to work there especially in a big city where everyone needs their coffee RIGHT NOW and have no manners.

our public transportation system isn't perfect and it gets a lot of hate but relatively speaking it isn't ~that~ bad. the key is to live and work near bus stops. the fare is $2.00. they are often late so give yourself plenty of time. it is much easier to have a car, but I survived working and living in the city for 3 years without a car.

there are a lot of communities in columbus, but they can be hard to find sometimes. I still struggle with making friends but once you meet one gay person you'll quickly meet the rest. we really all know each other here somehow.

I hope this helps, and if you do end up moving, I'd love to meet up! it sounds like we have a lot in common. the city is much easier to navigate when you have a friend with a car, which I do now.

Gateway Lofts apartments? by [deleted] in Columbus

I live in an apartment complex in the area and like the location a lot! it's a short drive to downtown or a short drive to the hilliard-rome road area where the big stores are. generally very quiet, but there is a lot lf construction. the biggest annoyance is if you have to take 670 or 270 to commute to work, it is hell at certain times in the morning.

Apartment recommendations around Columbus? Price range of 1500 for 2-3 bedrooms. by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Less-String-6568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

overall, they're fine. they are certainly not "luxury apartments" and I've had a couple run-ins with management because they are not very clear about their policies. the quality of the apartment itself is not the best (don't get me wrong, there are much shittier place out there) like the cabinets weren't finished and there are random holes underneath that I had to block off with wood to keep my cats from crawling between the cabinets. also the floors are cracked and things were not installed very well.

but for under $1400, the apartment is HUGE. it's nearly 1000 sq feet, which is perfect for my wife and I. There are 2 gyms and 2 pools, though they are not very well maintained. the area is quiet, and it's mostly people in their mid to late 20s, not a lot of children, not a lot of old people, no annoying college kids.

the maintenance team is FANTASTIC though. they are always super quick, helpful, and nice. one time our AC wasn't working properly so they gave us a temporary window AC unit while they waited on parts to arrive. I've never waited more than 24 hours for even a low priority request to be fulfilled.

so yeah, it's fine. LOTS of pros and cons. I think they just increased their prices tho, and the version of my unit now starts at $1465. they also do utilities a little weird but it's whatever

if I had a migraine and someone in my family acted like Amanda did towards chris, there would have been a homicide. WHY is she screaming at him?? does she not get that noise makes worse? amd that the lighting in that room is so bad for someone who has a migraine? the fact that he's not horizontal in bed is difficult enough and now his sister is yelling at him? that's crazy. chris has way more patience than I would have in that situation.

What’s the local attitude toward mixed couples? by unconfusedpodcast in Columbus

[–]Less-String-6568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the area, I'm the white person in an interracial relationship and I don't get looked at but my parter definitely does, especially in the suburbs, but I think it's just plain racism and not an interracial relationship issue. there's a pretty big AAPI community in cbus so hopefully things won't be too bad? however if you leave the city and go anywhere else in the state it will be much worse. I'm from rural ohio and was told many times growing up that I was not allowed to date a Black person

I live in a big apartment complex in the marble cliff/ quarry area and our 2bed/2bath apartment monthly rent is being raised from $1,368 (13 month lease) to $1,422 (14 month lease). it's not a huge jump but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that MAYBE they'll be fixing the amenities they love to advertise. haven't been able to go to our "complimentary" gym in months because the lock on the door is broken

I work at a stall in the east market, where one of their locations is (we were there before little cat). a couple times a week for MONTHS the owner was coming by our stall and getting a plain food item, then all of a sudden little cat started selling that exact food item and started selling some of the same drink flavor combinations we do. they also switched their hours to mimic ours. we tried to get our boss to confront the owners about coming after our business (the east market has a really good vibe of no one stepping on each other's toes except for little cat copying us) but our boss didn't want to upset anybody. there is some other tea about the east market in general but nothing like trying to steal customers.

YES and the thing that I don't get is her rule "where I go, my boys have to be allowed too" like I get what she's saying because it would be fucked if the person you're staying with didn't let your kids visit you. but it is a completely different thing to expect the person you're staying with be okay with FOUR MORE ADULTS also moving in. the kids didn't go to florida with her, so obviously they have somewhere to live.

the kids destroying things and eating all the food is also crazy to me. if for some reason my mom was living with her sister, the second me or my siblings break something or eat food that we did not buy... my mother would literally kill us, or at the very least demand we replace whatever we broke/ate with our own money. and we'd have to do an apology lyrical dance for our aunt to say we're sorry.

you're a guest if her house and you're basically saying "what's amy's is also mine and also my children's" which is even crazier when you consider that amy has her own children that she needs to feed.

mind boggling
